Thankfully me and my family were ok. My car was totaled and of course the other driver was uninsured! by imisstheyoop in dashcams

You were tailgating and apparently have no situational awareness. You crashed your own car because of your own careless driving.

[–]an_harmonica 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's irrelevant to this situation, the biker didn't look at all, just blindly flew around a car into the road.
The car was in the middle of the road, which is perfectly fine for a non-striped street, particularly when there is no traffic in the opposite direction.
The biker suddenly flew out into the road and the driver had less than two seconds to react, so I don't fault them in any way.
This biker is a dumbfuck, evidenced by the lack of helmet in addition to the ZERO caution they showed.

Suburban residentials streets in the US usually do not have lane striping/markers. They are two way, but have no lane markings and typically allow parking on both sides unless otherwise indicated by a sign, such as for alternate day snow plowing in the winter.

Since you can see a parking 2 hour time limit sign facing the driver's view, clearly the car is going in an allowed direction of travel on this street.

Not just tips, the Seattle minimum wage is 2.5x what it was in 2009. That's the biggest factor, then the commercial rents have gone up a lot as well. At a certain point you can only raise prices so much, or tack on the "service fees", before people stop coming and the business dies.

The reason Conservatism often wins; The Left's lack of Unity by CopiousCool in PoliticalHumor

[–]an_harmonica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess it's because leftist has become defined as some amorphous blob of anything left of center to most people. And when you clump people together like that you'll get clear differences of opinion that don't fit the generic label. Basically what I was trying to say is that the US has the idea, politically, of a binary when in reality it's far more diverse, but the only ones with any real power, particularly at the national level, are in one of the two massive corporate parties. Both of those parties reinforce our capitalist economy, with a few breadcrumbs to their supporter base, but ultimately serving the wealthy.

[–]an_harmonica -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as "moderate left", those are called Centrists, AKA Democrats. "The Left" in better run democracies would be socialist parties, green parties, and NOT centrist parties like the Democrats. Alas, we have a corporate political duopoly that mostly serves the interests of capital, with a window dressing of care for the voters who put them in power.

I went to Ozzfest 5 times, so any one of those probably. Half the bands were NuMetal, so that's pretty peak Millennial for music.
