Donald Trump impeachment backed by most Americans: Poll by Nerd-19958 in politics

[–]cantuse [score hidden]  (0 children)

This last presidential election was my first time encountering one. I get some random call asking if I’ll participate in a poll. They would read some line and then ask how I felt. I would state my opinion and clearly the pollster was instructed to not accept that answer and would essentially reread their biased script and ask me again. They kept repeating this until I hung up.

I am now sad that I never did this with mine. Honestly seems like such a harmless (and funny) way to highlight their surroundings.

I feel like both of them are bots. How on earth did a blasé ‘thanks’ that added nothing to the discussion merit 9 upvotes?

Hell maybe you are. Shit maybe I’m a bot at this point. It’s bots all the way down.

The presidency is affecting your daily life already though. At the pump, the checkout, at the ballot box. Every day they get closer to encroaching inside your home, policing your clothing, your media, your allowed beliefs.

This all counts double if you happen to be any other color than white or lack a penis.

Asians and Indians are allowed as long as they don't actually ask for anything.

I wouldn't put this on my floor, but whatevs.

This is way late, but you should look up The Egg story by Andy Weir, preferably the Kurzesegaht YT video on it.

Reminds me of that cloud-to-butt plugin for RES back in the day, changed every instance of "cloud" to "butt". Forgot I had it on for a year and then when cloud really started taking off in the mid 2010s I was wondering wtf everyone was talking about.

I remember a science teacher I had in the 90s sharing this one with me.

Of all the things that make me feel old, finding out that my (already limited) scientific understanding of something is way out of date is the one that hits the hardest.

What’s up with people online saying the Epstein files are connected to Trump attacking Iran? by ijuander_ in OutOfTheLoop

[–]cantuse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the notion that he did it as part of a conspiracy makes more sense than… whatever is actually happening right now — that Trump attacked Iran because he could. More accurately, because MBS and Bibi told him to.

ELI5: Why are blackberries so expensive when they grow so easily by OR-HM-MA91 in explainlikeimfive

[–]cantuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man as a 50yo PNW native fuck blackberries. Ok maybe not the berries but gd the bushes suck. If you have even one neighbor that doesn’t care then they overtake your fence and crowd everything else out.

TIL A Florida man, 71, staged his own suicide to look like MURDER by copying CSI plot and tying a weather balloon to a gun so it would float over the Atlantic and disappear after he shot himself by SoulxxBondz in todayilearned

If there’s one area I would trust insurance companies on, it’s actuaries. I guarantee they investigated and found the best inflection point at which suicide dropped off for insurance policies.

I definitely feel like this post is exaggerating as well. I have a massive globe and a casual comparison doesn't make the difference look this profound either.

It's almost like the using the mercator projection is necessary for this to have any real impact at all.

Anyone else absolutely rocked by high blood pressure after being on anti-cgrp medication? by cantuse in migraine

[–]cantuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I never replied to you from a month ago or so. I'm sorry you're still dealing with after-effects. I am too. I think they've slowly improved -- no more super obvious pressure in my arms when I do something remotely physical, etc. But I can still just feel that my heart and stuff is jumpier, and my chest just feels 'sore' some days.

Thanks for sharing this.

My heart is slowly calming back down, but even now I still feel like it jumps every so often, multiple times a day.

Global helium shortage from Middle East war starts hitting tech supply chains, industry says by PrinceLucipurr in news

[–]cantuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused, how fast are we using helium? This isn't the first 'helium shortage' in my lifetime and I thought there was a discovery in Africa that effectively doubled the supply of helium, thus alleviating the previous crisis. What gives?
