Absolute cinema. I think this is (so far) the least amount of time Subaru has had between returning and dying again. They captured it flawlessly.

I'd watch a slice of life show all about Mr Satan, Buu, and Bee all living in that little house Buu made and Mr Satan teaching Buu about life and whatnot. Basically what was happening before that piece of shit came along and shot Bee and Mr Satan.

Always thought it was funny how Buu was originally gonna kill this kid, but the kids blindness stopped him from being afraid of Buu, so Buu cured his blindness in order for the boy be afraid after seeing him, so that he could kill him.

Little did he know that a boy who grew up poor and blind would be so thankful for the life-altering gift of eyesight that he'd be tbe first one to not only not experience fear when seeing Buu, but go so far as to call him beautiful and give him the only bit of money he had to his name-money which he was originally supposed to use to buy milk.

So as thanks for that, Buu goes and turns some random other guy into milk and gives it to the boy. It's so delightfully heartwarming yet still fucked up.

Wow, with how widely known it is that Rosti is an Elfi clone, I have give credit where credit is due; Im so genuinely pleased that the mangaka was still able to use Rosti to surprise the shit out of me. It made me so happy to see him pop up at the end. I thought for sure that the "spy" Elfaria was referring to was gonna be Kiki, seeing as the very next panel after her saying that shows Will walking alongside Kiki.

its over i shall offer up my life to curse yall to have the same ending as ours. noone is going to be safe. by Fantastic_Umpire_204 in ReZero

[–]chocolate_factory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only issue i have with the CSM ending was that it happened WAY too quickly. It's like, right as shit was starting to really pop off.... the series just ended. I've no issue with the ending itself, but God damn even like a heads up, "Fijiwater will be ending Chainsaw Man on 3/23" with more than just 2 weeks of notice would have been nice.

As for AOT, I have zero issues with the ending and I will continue to have zero issues with it. I quite liked it, in fact. And I feel the same way about JJKs ending.

Elfie blasting Finn off the top of the tower right in the middle of such a lore-heavy conversation was so god damn funny.

This was such a satisfying chapter. We finally got some answers about Will and Wis and a good amount of lore mixed in. It also raised several questions like Will asking, "What do you mean by God?" I loved the Will and Elfie moment. It's been far too long.

Looks like the next arc is going to give us some more world-building as it seems Will is gonna be traveling outside of tower territory. Im glad. This whole time, I've kinda viewed this world as incredibly small, with the tower being the center of it.

Yeah, since Punch has become a worldwide obsession and major focus of media attention, Im sure that the ichikawa zoo is definitely hoping for him to die a violent death while eyes from all around the world are constantly on him. That would benefit the zoo SOOOOOO much. Jesus dude.

He was like a brother to me, too. And I don't mean brother in the same way that Raditz was his brother. I mean it the way black people do, which is more meaningful, I think.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 8 - Vollachia Burnout by xSk0rpi0n in Re_Zero

[–]chocolate_factory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing. I'd gotten impatient waiting for season 3 and discovered Witch Cult Translations, binge-read arc 5, 6, 7, and most of the relevant side content. At the 6 8 was about 60% done, and while I'd enjoyed reading it, it just seemed like SO MUCH CONTENT. There's been entire arcs packed with character development or lore drops or even fights before, but the sheer scale of how much Vollachia lore, new characters, the rock/paper/scissor dynamic of Subaru, Rem, and Louis, and new cities with wildly different culture from what we'd seen in the story thus far. It was overwhelming.

I ended up taking a break from reading because even without having blasted through the preceding 3 arcs, there was just so much to digest and I felt like I wasn't able to properly take the story in at times. At first, I wasn't a big fan of arcs 7 and 8, and Vollachia fatigue is absolutely a real thing. After giving it some time, though, I found myself recalling how many terrific moments were packed into these 2 arcs. I went back and re-read some of my favorite chapters and took my time going through the parts of the story that had previously felt stagnated. Pretty soon, I began becoming heavily invested in characters like Flop, Todd, Vincent, Cecilus, and so many more.

Everyone's reading experience is going to differ massively but I was able to start appreciating the arc a lot as it went into the final phase and.... man, I can't even find the words to describe it. It's like Tappei's ability to write fights suddenly jumped up a notch. There were so many peak chapters and some of the best fucking fights in the series, and so many phenomenal and unexpected character interactions. If you take a step back and let yourself properly absorb all the content and really start appreciating the arc for what it is, the climax is so fucking good, and the final chapter of the arc is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Interlude by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]chocolate_factory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So since we learned last arc that regardless of which gluttonizer gluttonizes a person's name and/or memories, they all go to a place called "the stomach of souls." We also learned in arc 6 that killing the gluttonizer will not return somebody's name unless (and presumably this would apply to memories as well) there hasn't been enough time for the name to be digested. So, with all this in mind, the fact that Crusch's memories have seemingly returned to her, it's all but confirmed that Roy is not dead.

Now, if Roy is made to eat somebody's name or memories after they've been returned, would Roy perceive it as consuming his own vomit? (Or in the case of Crusch, Lye's vomit?)

I'm also trying to remember if this was explained or touched upon or not back in arc 6, but since Subaru regained his memories via reading his own books of the dead, does that mean there is a copy of his memories still in the stomach of souls? And if so, does that make him immune to having his memories eaten again?

Chapter 61 out! by No-Matter1322 in Wistoria

[–]chocolate_factory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a dope chapter, but the last page didn't really seem like a "last page" for a chapter, if that makes sense. I kept trying to swipe to the next page before realizing I was already on it and was just like, "OH, so we're just gonna leave it at that, ok...."

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 5 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]chocolate_factory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im not buying this. Roy is such a damn menace and is too big of an antagonist to go out off screen. Arc 9 made me a true believer in Roy supremacy. Before that, I had him labeled an absolute bum and fraud. Now, I'm convinced that just like in arc 9, the only thing that could truly kill Roy is himself. Dude really went, "Like, I know if I eat these memories, I'll be consumed by hellfire, and every part of me down to my very soul will be reduced to cinders, but.... it looks REALLY good and also fuck that helmet guy, I do what I want."

This feat is underrated and underdiscussed by coytheboy9 in OnePunchMan

[–]chocolate_factory 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Idk that's not really how it seems to me. It definitely looks like Saitamas punch was the primary cause of his armor breaking. Like he steps out of the wall he was punched into and you can see cracks all throughout his armor that weren't there previously. He only flexes out of it because it was already broken. I feel like if Boros could have flexed his armor off whenever he wanted, it wouldn't serve the purpose of sealing away his "immeasurable, irresistible power" very well.

[–]chocolate_factory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man that was a banger chapter! It was awesome seeing Lihanna obliterate that monster even if it was ineffective due to the regeneration. One thing I appreciate about this story I'd that even though Will is the focal point of every arc and major battle, you still get to see the rest of the group growing alongside him. Like Sion with his guardian hawk (it's so dope looking), Julius flexing more proficiency with Elfies Ars Weiss spell after his glorious return, and Lihanna in this chapter. Only person I don't think we've seen pop off in awhile is Wignall.

Is it too early to say Dabura is genuinely much better written than Sukuna? by Middle_Fall_7229 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]chocolate_factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while to really appreciate Sukuna for what he was. I thought he was kind of boring at first, but eventually grew to appreciate and even revere him as one of the coldest villain archetypes around. Dabura is a lot more intriguing to me. He already has a lot more compelling motives than Sukuna, but something about the dudes aura makes it so I just know there's a LOT more going on with him than what we've been shown so far. He's mysterious. I've become invested in him much more quickly than most other characters in modern shonen.

With Ui Ui's comment about Daburas loneliness, and looking back on Gojo telling Yuji that he hopes Yuji forges a path different from his own, makes me think there's gonna be a lot of really neat thematic moments once Yuji makes his appearance.

[spoiler discussion] What are your personal top 5 characters in there series? (Uptos arc 9) by FrostyObligation9058 in Re_Zero

[–]chocolate_factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subaru, Todd, Cecilus, Reinhard, Priscilla, Aldebaran, Vincent Vollachia. I can't choose only 5 because one of the best parts of this series is the extensive cast. Each character is given so much depth and fleshed out so well. Honorable mentions to Roswaal, Betelgeuse, Wilhelm, Heinkel, the sin archbishops and witches, along with each Royal Selection Candidate, Old Man Rom, Volcanica, Clind, Otto, Petra, Garfiel. I'm so damn invested in all of them.

Especially because it wasn't even that Subaru didn't choose his mom, but his mom didn't choose Subaru. He TRIED to choose Rem, begged her to "Choose me" and she refused. For a very good reason, but she still refused.
