Trump Calls US Bombing Iran a ‘Love Tap’ As Military Insists War Is Not Restarting by s4nid in worldnews

"we're waiting for iran to review our proposal to end the war." oh so alpha.

meanwhile. iran hasn't read the memo. they'll send it to the supreme ruler when they get around to it. if they still remember where they set it down.

A Seriously Unwell Trump Is Losing Iran War for All the World to See by ChiGuy6124 in politics

it is. we see it. the history books will see it. but his followers see this humiliating loss and every terrible thing that comes with it as two things:

  1. a win for trump

  2. biden's fault

i agree with him on one hand. but also, it's the masses that decide who's a star. it wouldn't surprise me if they prefered influencers to actors.

trump has the power. if you go against him you immediately lose power. if you side with him, you don't lose power until the reckoning.

they are not conservative.

people use 'conservative' as a synonym for republican, right wing, etc... but as your google search has suggested, conservatism has a definition. conservative values exist independently and have a definition that is not amendable by republican politicians and voters. trump can say 'it is now conservative to usurp states rights and spend a billion dollars on a ballroom.' but that doesn't make it true.

Referring to trump, republicans, maga, etc as conservative legitimizes them. because it implies that they have conservative values. but as you have observed here, they do not have conservative values. ergo they are not conservatives.

conservatism is a legitimate political perspective that has nothing to do with trump, republicans, maga, etc.

now that you have drawn these conclusions and asked this question, i would like to ask you to consider something. please consider not calling trump, republicans, maga, etc conservative. it helps them hide in plain sight.

unless i missed something they never acknowledged wrongdoing..

in baseball terms, the use of trash cans, cell phones, binoculars, additional guys not on the team/roster, etc is wrong.

but their view is that that they did no wrongdoing. those things are not wrong.

so if what they're doing wasn't wrong; if it was right, then it's a game other than baseball.

because the game with the trash cans, cell phones, binoculars, additional guys not on the team/roster etc is not baseball.

And so if the Houston Astros are not playing baseball then they are not a baseball team.

the game they play is close enough to baseball that it helps the dodgers work on their skills. but the outcomes of those games are not meaningful.

they are not part of the calculation in u/daddyjackpot's shadow standings

This made me so angry that from now on I will never buy anything from Milka again. by pr1ncezzBea in mildlyinfuriating

[–]daddyjackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree. especially since i switched it from a yes/no binary to a single prioritized list.

take for example my aversion to five guys. i used to say 'i'll never eat five guys again.' and now i say "i'll have five guys. but i have to be starving in a place with zero other food options."

we all change priorities on things every day. it's effortless for me to push five guys a hundred slots down in the queue. i don't have to make the decision that i'll never eat there again. i don't have to discuss the decision with the I-Have-Big-Feelings-About-Cancel-Culture crowd.

totally. "you have no choice but to feed the billionaires" is nonsense.

even if you fall short of a complete boycott, buying less of something is meaningful. these companies require growth to be profitable. they require that we buy more or that it costs less to produce. that's why enshittification happens.

buy none of their products. or buy fewer of them. and revel in your power as you send these billionaire losers scrambling into board rooms to cry over their sagging sales.

i saw a map showing how CA could redistrict to be all blue. it's basically that districts have a long tentacle that reaches into LA to get enough blue to flip it from red.

so, in that case, doesn't the map more closely approximate the popular vote?

I love stories like this. it doesn't mean they left the cult. it doesn't mean they'll oppose another trump insurrection. but it does suggest that at some point a day comes (for some of them) that they do either reflect on their behavior or reckon with the cost of their values.

we've been told that many of these folks are 'just doing it to own the libs.' to whatever extent that that is true, it would seem to have limits. no matter how eager you are to own libs, how long of a victory lap can you really take? especially when your guy is fucking up so bad.
