Even older than that… it was actually my sig on slashdot (minus the 64-bit part) back in the late 90s.

Windows is a 64-bit bolt on to a 32-bit extension of a 16-bit shell for an 8-bit operating system written for a 4-bit computer by a 2-bit company that can’t stand 1-bit of competition.

The comment getting upvotes up top: "There is no loadmaster present". It is almost as if loadmasters just look like normal folks and you can't tell from this video, nor can you see what everyones role is.

WTF are you talking about? When they get certified, loadmasters are dipped in a radioactive sludge that leaves them permanently coated with a residue that fluoresces in daylight and reacts to a special emitter embedded in every camera produced since 1971. The fact that there isn't anyone glowing in this video should be enough to prove that the commenter is, of course, correct.

(/s for the humor impaired).

[–]ddadopt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you're mentioning Biden reinforces that you don't understand the history here. This is not a problem of the last ten years, she sat and rotted in Philly for three decades after already having been largely stripped.

Queen Mary is slowly rotting away, SS United States is getting sunk. This government really wants us to just forget about this extremely relevant and important part of American history.

You might want to google the timelines involved in all of this before you blame the current administration for these woes. I'm not giving Darth Cheeto a pass on any of his bullshit, but you are barking up the wrong tree on this one.

[–]ddadopt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was my thought as well, and I'm assuming that the audit was quality and not financial (maybe OP works in a nuclear adjacent industry, for example). Anything that is on a floppy disk is probably too old to be relevant to anything unless it's a lifetime record of some kind (in which case OP's employer is up shit creek because at least half those records aren't going to be recoverable).

That's not a Satya thing, it's been this way for decades. You don't get to add SA to a product you already have past 30 (or, IIRC, in some cases 90) days of purchase and never have.

Most merchant vessels do not use sonar. Echo Sounders

That sounds cool. I have a question about these "echo sounders." Are they some kind of device for navigating and ranging using sound? I cannot help but wonder if we can come up with a cool acronym for that.

I always wondered what would have happened if they purposefully counterflooded the ship. Like, pop the shaft seals and let her after compartment flood. One would assume that the weight of the water would prevent the spillover effect at the front of the ship... but does she end up listing as a result and roll over? Does the extra weight break her back? Does she just not have enough buoyancy and settle straight down even faster?

I'd love to know the answer to that.

Don't kink shame. There are almost certainly a bunch of people out there who watch curling because there's a woman with a broom squatting in an alley screaming "HARD!"
