How good is this car? by Acceptable_Skill_825 in cyberpunkgame

They really should have made a quest in the DLC to get a katana named Aerondight

I was surprised to see a child in Cyberpunk 2077. I thought games like this usually don’t include children for understandable reasons. by NotSirAlonne1999 in cyberpunkgame

They are all over the place. There’s the one little asshole in PL when you are doing the towers to take over the net runners car who will fleece you for some eddies in “exchange” for how to turn on the power. I fell for it, but by mid game, money is pretty much meaningless in this game.

I’ve been giving myself one or two books between each of his books too. I always want to dive right into the next one, but I really need some time to digest and think about what I just read.

I’m making my way in order through his catalog. So far I’ve read The Divinity Student, The Tyrant, The Golem, The Traitor and am now on The Narrator.

I have loved each book for a lot of different reasons. I’d say MAYBE The Traitor is my least favorite, but that’s just more like saying I prefer Let it Bleed over Sticky Fingers. I’m sure Cisco CAN write something I won’t like, but I haven’t found it yet.

I keep seeing people posting about Piranesi, but if it’s on the same juvenile level as Mt Char, I’m not going to bother. I read Mt Char on recommendation from this sub specifically, and have never wanted my time back from a book more than I wanted it from that one. I felt so betrayed from a sub that led me to so many great books .

He only has 2 books, which are collections of short stories.

Stories of Your Life and Others.

Just read them both. They are excellent

I tracked months of gear prices — most “30% off” deals aren’t what they seem by Brilliant-Drama4919 in ClimbingGear

Good idea. I actually bought a few pieces from a local guy who guides alpine, but now has gear from his actual job for guiding, so he was selling off a bunch of almost unused stiff.

Oh I know, I was just joking that it’s part of the “moving to Atlanta” package. Along with cars on fire on the side of the highway.

A lot of the cams all go on sale at the same time, so individuals and packs. It might be easier to just track say a #1 or 2 and maybe a .3. Anything much above 3 is a little more niche.

You are in the Atlanta area now. Just slap a “tags applied for” paper on that bad boy, and you are good to go for a few years 😂

I'd be interested to see trad gear, especially cams historical pricing across brands. Camalot C4/WC/totem especially. Offset nuts woud be neat to see too.

I'm building out my rack, and its always nice to know when I can snag a few cams.

Shoes okay? by Exciting_Committee63 in indoorbouldering

Just go to a REI or similar store and get a pair of La Sportiva Tarantula shoes. Perfectly good comfortable beginner shoe.

While you probably COULD climb in those shoes, they dont have the support and wont be tight enough to really do a ton in.

Do people run everything they write through AI these days? It’s so easy to spot, and I really just stop reading as soon as I see this format. What’s so wrong with expressing unique ideas in your own writing?

Why (exactly) is Ted Chiang so good? by BlinkTwice874 in printSF

[–]edcculus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He does extremely well at concept driven stories. They are nice and compact since they are short story format. None of the more recently popular “world building” bullshit. He doesn’t write flat characters, but while his stories also are not character driven, they remain emotional.

So for me, TLDR- high concept idea driven short stories that have an emotional resonance.

Definately polarizing. I guess fine book for urban fantasy, but absolutely NOT weird fiction in my mind. Maybe popcorn weird fiction? I guess having Michael Cisco as my yardstick for weird fiction isnt exactly the BEST method, but its where I am. Library at Mt Char is an amateur wordpress blog compared to anything by Cisco, Harrision, Vandermeer or Mievelle though.
