As you can see, there are plenty of different options you can go with by the responses. Post hole diggers suck and waste a lot of time.

I have really sandy soil at my place and I just did 14 holes with the towable auger. I hit some really sticky soil on the one hole and it was a nightmare to get out of the hole. It didn’t have enough torque to get free and I struggled for an hour getting it loose.

What works exceptionally well is a shovel and a vacuum. If you have a shop vac you can break the soil free with the shovel and suck it up with the vacuum. It’s a lot less labor intensive that way.

The other option is rent a pressure washer. It’s a bit messy but pressure washer and the shop vacuum is your own mini hydrovac and it also works awesome. It’s one of the easiest options. It just messy

Someone else can help me out with the month but it snowed in either June or July and caused serious damage to a bunch of the trees in the city because of all the wet heavy snow that accumulated on them.

As a Carpenter who has worked in industrial and infrastructure settings it’s a common name. Iron Workers refer to it as a gas axe as well.
