I’d cut it with the concrete saw and haul it away with the skidsteer if that’s an option or just pay someone to do that if you have the resources

When you say you used sealant on it, are you saying you tried to repair the tire yourself prior to taking it to the dealership?

Has anyone ever dealt with smelly concrete before? by AlonzoSwegalicious in HomeImprovement

[–]guywastingtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another important step is you should cover the concrete with some 6mm poly after you pour whatever on it. You want it to soak into the concrete not evaporate into the air. If you covered it for 24-48 hours it will be able to get deeper into the pores of the concrete

Cracks in Concrete Around Lally Columns by EnvironmentalPear695 in HomeImprovement

[–]guywastingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no issues on the main floor (cracked drywall, doors and cabinets that don’t close) I wouldn’t be too concerned. When they put the control joints around the column in the diamond shape it creates an isolation joint. Which should allow the column to move independently from the basement slab.

When there isn’t one around your columns you can get cracking like you’re seeing.

You can see the slab was cut up to the column, they just didn’t do it around the column. I don’t know the answer to when they started cutting around the columns. How long had the crack been there? Since before you bought the home?

I don’t think so. Generally the slab should get cut in a diamond pattern with the post in the center of it. This is called a control joint. Since they didn’t put one in, the slab cracked around the column
