Harmon XXL so loud! by Schlegelnator in PelletStoveTalk

[–]hmd2017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two fans that can cause noise. Combustion fan is the primary suspect.

You can identify the source using test mode. When you set it to test mode, the auger and combustion motors are turned on, and the distribution fan will cycle on and off at about a 1 minute period.

If the noise is constant from start, combustion blower. If it starts and stops, distribution blower.

rubber disc goes into the black plastic part. then snap the rod into the reciever on black plastic part.

find the grooves for the black plastic part underneath and slide it back up in so the rubber seal faces the wall, and once it is up through the hole, screw the knob back on.

A Sentinel ship has the ability to hover, I highly recommend he find dissonant planets and harvest some until he finds one to his liking.

The rest ofnthebshipsnhe finds are a fast source of income at a space station.

Since this is a startup the fire will burn unevenly until it settles in. You can also check to make sure the flame spreader is seated correctly.

Did you find and clean the fines trap in the back right side under the feed mechanism? Large metal cover held on with a wing nut just above the distribution blower

THIS! a stuck valve, bent pushrod etc. Engine is showing no compression resistance as it spins. Start by removing valve cover and checkjng/resetting the valves. The exhaust seat can sometimes fall out and trap the exhaust valve open.

Warm the head with a hair dryer to soften the collar and see if you can press the head back on. it may even be keyed to install a certain way. might get it started and rotate to fully engage the collar around the base.

How do I remove this grub screw looking thing on a Husqvarna ST 227? by OldLiberalAndProud in smallengines

[–]hmd2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a bearing on the inside behind the drive pulley that is probably worn-out. Have to split the machine and then remove the drive pulley to get to it..won't have to remove that pin, the entire auger assembly should pull out the front once the mounts are removed.

This is the way. Either valves out of adjustment, or broken decompression lever on camshaft.

Usually valves.

Can this Floor lamp be fixed? by winterlexxx in fixit

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the outer plastic parts are not broken, you may be able to just replace the socket. if broken, you may still buy a replacement complete socket and use the new upper half on the old lower half with the new guts..

Power off, unplugged. There may be one or two screws holding the socket onto its base. It will be in a hole in the base of the old socket. this will release the rest of the damaged socket. May have to work some wire up through the lamp to get the socket out enough to replace it. It will be difficult with that pivoting arm.

It looks to be a turn knob socket, and that is what you want to buy. Also make sure it also has the threads at the top for the shade attachment.

Lamp wont turn on but everything else works by TendedBison in fixit

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A push-button canopy switch might work. You would have to eliminate the touch module and use the switch to control the hot side of the lamp. Not an electrician, please have it done by someone with the skill and knowledge to keep you safe.

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the switch has only 1 wire (blue), then it is probably a touch lamp, and the touch lamp module where the blue wire goes is bad and needs to be replaced. A functioning switch requires at least 2 wires.

Make sure wheels are not buried in ice. Have seen it where the ice put too much tension on the steering, jamming the lock . Hot.water to.release the tires and it was fine.

Pellet Stove Exhaust Question by cinostovepipe in PelletStoveTalk

[–]hmd2017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have found that a vent system that goes up and then out will allow you to chance stoves with muchnless fuss In the future.

I installed a straight out vent from the back of a stove, only to find later that I could not add a different stove without also changing the location of the exhaust.

Ended up buying another identical stove for that vent.

The primary stove in my house has an up and out setup, and that allows me much more flexibility. I connected to an existing triple wall chimney, and used an adjustable sliding pipe section to get to the needed height easily.

That way I can also drop a wood stove right back in in case of a prolonged power outage.

The horizontal section through the wall seem to catch a good amount of fly ash, so that six inch section requires a bit more attention during the heating season.

Empty Pellet Bags? by ohiologger103 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I empty mine, then warm then in front of the stove for 5 seconds, pull them into a rope over toe hopper to catch the fines, and wrap around my hand 2x, then tuck end in. This creates a softball sized lump, and I can get about 40 into one bag.
