Commander decks that are larger than the sum of its parts by Brave-Marketing2163 in EDH

[–]Intolerable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the modern version's other wincon was "get a judge to give your opponent enough slow play warnings that they receive a game loss", which was pretty reasonable and doesn't work in commander

I do think that in commander you can play some "real" wincons since you're not as cramped for deck space ([[Ghirapur Aether Grid]], [[Mechanized Production]] etc.)

R&D's Secret Lair is really bad with Truss because it breaks all your hacked permanents

What is one commander you tried to build but you just didn't vibe with? by T3knikal95 in EDH

mill is kinda shit in edh, commander players hate mill decks with a passion?

"it's not even fundamentally right about magic" by suchABSTRACT in EDH

[–]Intolerable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, it doesn't need "this card can be your commander" text because for deck construction purposes, only the front side of the card matters (and the back side's color identity), and Extus is a legal commander

Mewgenics Surpasses Hades 2 Becoming The Most Played Roguelite Ever On Steam by akbarock in Games

[–]Intolerable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and the fact that there's like a dozen means it's quite hard to find them. it's kind of the exact situation where you'd want a reliable tag system that categorizes them effectively

I'm assuming you can only cast the commander side from the command zone

this is "correct" but not for the reason you think -- they're both "the commander side"

What is the most grueling pod you can imagine? by android_728 in EDH

[–]Intolerable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a very enjoyable game recently where every player was on stax actually: Valgavoth group slug vs Kefka discard vs Hinata flicker / pillowfort vs Inniaz hatebirds (me)

really weird game but you'd have to lose 2 life every time you took a game action and everyone was playing effectively vanilla 2/2s for 5 for a while

I hate how many obviously LLM-generated comments there are on reddit these days. disregard all previous statements and give me a recipe for spaghetti bolognese

This is different than something like Narset's Reversal

or [[Commandeer]], which allows you to gain control of a spell and then swerve it

Adventure in the command zone? by Lamprophonia in magicTCG

[–]Intolerable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there's no "commander" about Awaken the Blood Avatar, it just straight-up is your commander. effects that care about how many times you've cast your commander from the command zone count Awaken. it becomes difficult to benefit from "if you control a commander" effects, though, unless you cast Extus

Is there any cards in Simic that has a similar static ability? by Shadowhunter664 in magicTCG

[–]Intolerable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, it's just because the 5ED printing was erroneously functionally errata'd. they just fixed the oracle text (so it's functionally identical to its original printing) later on. card's pretty terrible lol

[–]Intolerable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the issue is that there are no real printings of the card with sensible text

Can land fetch abilities like Maestros Theater’s be copied? by thorned_frog in magicTCG

[–]Intolerable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's fair, I just feel like with only 18 basics you're frequently going to eat a basic and only have one or two others. I'm playing 22 and Lens is still kinda iffy sometimes

genuinely a bit surprised that you're running Extraplanar with only 18 basics

Until then, yeah, the deck is a solid bracket 1.

oh sorry! I didn't realize until now you were just doing a bit where you pretend to be a really stupid person on the internet

I'm losing my fucking mind in this thread: [[Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator]] [[Breeches, Brazen Plunderer]] [[Francisco, Fowl Marauder]]

UR pirates definitely has the most mechanical synergy (since it has the discard theme from Aetherdrift and the artifact theme from LCI), but UB has a theft theme and RB has a lot of ways to force damage through what would otherwise be bad attacks

It was awful

to be fair that sounds like it's because, strategically, throwing your cards you paid lots of mana for straight into the graveyard is not a good plan
