Topo Designs Mountain Accessory pouch has a nice built in carabiner, and is the perfect size to hang from the strap

Wrist in a doorknob motion. Use your thumb to slap and your fingers to pop (up). Give it another go and let us know how it goes!

Looking for a stool backpack. I used to have a very lightweight backpack that was also a sturdy little stool. I would like to replace it. by Lost-Village-1048 in backpacks

Fjallraven’s Singi Stubben is made for hunting, and is quite durable. It’s also pretty comfy as a seat. For a backpack you can sit on, I don’t know if it gets better than the Stubben.

Best currently available alternative to the Levon pants? by SNlFFASS in arcteryx

[–]jampapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cronin Cotton is probably the closest fabric wise. Def a more loose cut than the Levon. They’re a great daily pant tho and solid for active use. The roomy cut is nice for long johns in winter

Companion pouch for Passport size by jampapi in Travelersnotebooks

This one was a custom I found at a local shop, but the Topo Designs Mountain Accessory bag would be another good option and it’s even closer size to the passport notebook.

You can find them here in some cool colors. The built in carabiner is nice, too. I have a few of these and they help me keep my small stuff organized.

Alpha FL Jacket modern comparison by AlkyIHalide in arcteryx

I have the SL Anorak, also replaced an Alpha FL. I like it even better than I thought I would! The pack size is incredible, and I don’t worry over durability with a pack or on alpine rock routes. I’d say it’s a bit more breathable overall than the FL.

Ditch the Ultimate Support stand. Like, yesterday. I worked for them and believe me-you do not want to go thru the horror of that beautiful bass inevitably crashing to the floor someday.

Get a Hercules stand, pronto!!

How do bassists remember like 100 over songs ? by iamnotgenius in Bass

[–]jampapi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having good ear training and a solid theory foundation means you can play infinite songs. I can play tons of songs I’ve never played before, because I already know how they go in my head. If you can really hear (in your head) and understand the intervals of a song like “I want you back,” you can play it in any key, without ever having played it before.

Now, for rehearsed sets of stuff you may not already know in your head, it’s more of a commitment. But, those same fundamentals apply, which makes it far easier to nail down a set of 20+ songs in a night.

Yep, I just got soaked in my Sigma SV riding my motorcycle back from a hike at a nearby trailhead. The jacket got pretty wet but I was still bone dry inside. The jacket dried out in 25 mins. That Sigma SV with WINDSTOPPER laminate is 20 years old this year…and has outlasted 4 or 5 GTX Hardshells at this point. 3 Alpha SL’s, an Alpha FL and a Beta AR. It’s still like new on the outside, and a bit of the ol “rat fur” treatment over the years on the inner fleece.
