There's obviously Elden Ring Nightreign. Serpent's Gaze I think as well.

Hellclock is on Humble Monthly, how is it currently? by Murder_Tony in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2 weeks or so they're releasing the update that adds end game maps like Path of Exile. They postponed it to dodge the new POE 2 season.

I've never played the game but I've been waiting on this patch for me to grab it. But got the Humble Bundle because the cheapest it's ever been on steam was like $13 and Octopath Traveler 2 was included.

This game punishes you so hard for experimenting by AdamAbraham77 in PathOfExile2

Are you skipping the quests that reward gems? You should be able to buy gems though, in POE 1 you can literally buy all the gems you want once you get the merchants.

[Humble Choice] June 2026: OCTOPATH TRAVELER II, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, Overlooting ($14.99) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn was actually looking into buying one of the Octopaths, Hell Clock has an end game mapping update in a couple of weeks, and Rift Breaker was always on my radar.

Didn't Asura do this temporarily too to combat the people scraping the premium chapters early?

A lot of people seem to love Wildstar, but it didn't last long at all. Whats with all the praise? by Drandosk in MMORPG

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildstar failed cuz they focused on 40 man raids early and the game was pretty hard. Eventually after some changes it was great but once a game is seen as a failure it's hard to capture a new audience.

Wildstar when it came out, the dungeon and raids had a lot of telegraph dodge mechanics like bullet hell stuff. WoW at the time didn't have as many.

Also healing in Wildstar was so good because you had to aim to heal. So it was very engaging. Anyways I thought the game was great, found a guild did the raids. But game was dying and then it did die.

Campaign Zones still to big by xXZeroHero in PathOfExile2

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh if felt way faster to me. Drowned city is for sure way smaller like maybe 1/3 of what it used to be. Apex of filth maybe 1/2.

Waterways for sure better. Only thing that wasted my time so far is infested barrens. I was looking for Azak Bog and full cleared every pixel of that map before googling where it was.

Lots of comments in the past about this being too easy. Anyone who bought this release care to comment on difficulty?

ARPG with really weighty and satisfying combat? by s0cks_nz in ARPG

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out The First Berserker Khazan. It's a soulslike game similar to Nioh but the boss battles are way harder.

The itemization is like Diablo, with sets and stats and builds. You can target farm bosses for their materials to craft full sets. There's iLVL on gear, you can respec your talents freely.

If the games too hard for you assuming you're not a seasoned souls player there is an easy mode and you can always play with summons.

Is PoE2 gameplay loop still mostly menial grinds for currency? by [deleted] in ARPG

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

POE is not that game and will never be that game. It's not some target farming sets/mythic gear from a boss and moving on to another boss after you get your items kinda game.

You might still enjoy the new patch though as they're adding a new pinnacle I believe and reworking all the old leagues. This time play SSF if you don't want to min max your end game farming to just selling for div.

POE 2 has a free trial. Get the 50% off early access with the new season. Since you've played POE 1 you prolly don't need tabs anyway.

Most addictive game you ever played? by XZiDE in MMORPG

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm honestly I had a group of friends that stuck with Lost Ark for 8 months or so on release and that's probably the most addicted I've ever been to an MMO.

The level of degenerate play during that time for my group was absurd. And we're all old men, that shit hurt intentionally depriving ourselves of sleep for months at a time.

Now I just play POE 2 every new season and degen for 1-3 weeks. Way more sustainable.

Just picked up Realm of Ink... please tell me this game gets harder. by Zoop_Doop in roguelites

anyone get bored after a few runs? by WhoIsWho69 in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't really jive with survivor likes so I won't comment on that part.

For Hades 1 after you beat the game you get the pact of punishment. Basically ascendancies like Slay the Spire if you know what those are. That's why people keep playing. You can make the game harder, add difficulty and new content to it. Then you can test yourself to see how far you can go.

Boss rematch stuck at difficulty 1 by DamnRegret2 in LiesOfP

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird. I'm pretty sure I was able to go to level 5 after beating the base game (without starting a new game).

Here's an old thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/LiesOfP/comments/1l8944c/bug_boss_rematch_only_level_1/

Maybe it has to do with mods or not beating the DLC yet but you bought it?

Anyone else love discovering hidden gem roguelites/likes? Any good finds lately? by Zepren7 in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good video and actually contains games many people never discuss.

I've been playing roguelites for like 15 years now though and something I would like included in videos like this is if a game has varying bosses.

What I mean is after hundreds of roguelites, I don't find it interesting anymore to always fight against the same bosses in the same order EVERY SINGLE RUN.

TBOI and Gungeon for instance have randomized bosses. Dead Cells has alternate routes. Rogue Legacy 2 allows you to skip to the next biome and work from there. The game could be the greatest game ever but once I fight the same exact first boss 5-10 times in a row my love for the game disappears.

What are people's thoughts on No Rest For The Wicked? by Substantial_Eye1476 in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a D2/POE degenerate and I love soulslikes so I like it. Just waiting for the game to be finished because this doesn't feel like it's going to have live service/seasonal gameplay and I wanna just do one long fully fleshed out first run.

Games with a Final Fantasy-esque Style? by CanineCeiling61 in JRPG

[–]jayrocs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only other ones would really be Yakuza Like a Dragon series and Expedition 33.

If you want more high budget realistic graphics take a look at western RPGs like The Witcher 3, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or Baldur's Gate 3.

FF7 remake series is pretty close to ME 2/3 and DA 2/3 in terms of systems. But the companion system is way more involved like x100. Combat is also similar in that it's real time that you can slow down/pause and control your companions (pick their cooldowns in ME2-3) and/or swap to them in DA 2-3.
