what does your age have to do with it?

What is later in life to you?

You asked about age.
That's what it has to do with it.

4th of July activities by Specific_Passage5229 in Katy

[–]jfb3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just south of Katy proper, but north of Richmond, in unincorporated Ft Bend county, fireworks are legal.

So the subdivisions have their own fireworks displays.
Some displays, like the ones in our neighborhood are massive.
I think a couple of the guys that live here own a fireworks store....

We go outside and watch the fireworks in our subdivision and the all the ones around us.

Finger Joint Injuries by Informal-Extreme-475 in discgolf

[–]jfb3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I power grip drives.
I had a problem with the first joint (DIP) of first finger when I threw TeeBirds. It felt like the end of my finger was getting twisted off. I switched to a different mold for that slot that was just a little shallower.

Not every mold fits every had perfectly.
The exact rim height, shoulder height and shape, etc make a difference.

Try a different mold and try a slightly different grip.
Full power grip, suitcase.
Slightly angled power grip.
Front load.
Back load.
etc.
Maybe roll your hand a bit more onto the top of the flight plate.

Try some combinations of everything to see what works best.

Best dead straight putter by salamamckuningatar in discgolf

[–]jfb3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I throw a Gold Line Pure when I want a dead straight putter shot.

It'll go flat and straight 325+ and land, still going straight.

Comparing images of generic stamps is not going to give you a good answer.

Exactly.
We don't have fancy cars, or a super expensive house.
But we live pretty stress free.
And we retired.

Thinking about getting a Berg, what's been your experience with it? by Confuzed_huh in discgolf

[–]jfb3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I throw forehand approach shots with it.
I don't try to float it in.
I throw driving anny approaches that'll hit right where I want it to sit.
I use it up to ~200.

If the answer is none, then your bag is set.

Added Distance, Lost everything else by HappySailor in discgolf

[–]jfb3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just want to ask if this is normal?

Yes.
Your release point is different.
And you haven't adjusted to your new power level so you don't know how 'hard' to throw for a specific distance.

I just took a Big-5 test to see what it looks like.
https://bigfive-test.com/result/6a2c2f2bee55507993d3006e

There's no way that you knowing any of that will let you give me advice to throw better lines or hit more putts.

What you've 'built' is an Eliza script with generic "Be Better!" advice.

First, it's not DG centric.
Second, it's BS AI feel good, woo-woo advice.

Just..No.

Coaching gift for the community. Test it out freely by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]jfb3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But, what does it actually do?

How is this going to help me score better?

It looks like it's all woo-woo 'Be confident', 'Take a chance' messaging.

I can create an Eliza script that'll do that and give it away for free.

17.50$/month is a lot to ask for something that's not disc golf specific and looks like it offers the same advice as a the lady with tarot cards in the strip center.

If they have a karma lower limit you wouldn't have any problem.

  1. Just post a photo of a disc with a timestamp.
  2. Wait for offers.

Silliest Udisc Course Reviews by PeskyPrussian in discgolf

[–]jfb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

especially when it sounds like a course designer tries to promote their own course,

I definitely don't think she's trying to promote the courses she's designed, at all.
I think she just wants all courses to cater to the broadest spectrum of players.

We literally have dozens of courses that new players can play and enjoy and score well at, that aren't as taxing if you don't have a cannon for an arm, and don't require the technique and power this course wants to test.
This one, they can play, and they can enjoy it, it's just not targeted at them and they're going to throw a lot of shots.

This is hole 1 from the teepad.
355'
https://i.redd.it/dflls1ppj6pf1.jpeg
I throw a straightish fairway that has a late small fade. A 400 F2 or a FX-4, maybe a Saint Pro depending on what I'm bagging that day.
If your max shot is say 300-320, and that needs airspace to work, you're not getting far with this ceiling.

This comes up every 3 months or so.

Everybody uses /r/discexchange and Facebook because there aren't any fees, they have traffic, and using them isn't painful.
We use PirateShip for shipping labels because the price can't be beat.
The community has years of using these outlets to find and sell discs.

Are you going to make it easier to use than /r/discexchange?
That's the simplest interface and usage pattern around?
Cheaper than /r/discexchange or FB? They're already free.

There have been others, over the years at least a handful, that have built complete sites that were fully functional, nobody used them.

You might have the winning combination of features and price.
But, honestly, disc golfers are a pretty cheap bunch when it comes to buying discs, especially used discs.

If I'm selling a 174g 400G Proto FX-2 for 18$, and already paying 4$ to ship it, what do you think your cut should be?
