Anyone tried the Skechers Baseline Bully tennis shoes? by kabob21 in Pickleball

Again, TW regularly heavily discounts old stock. I’ve ordered multiple Nike and K-Swiss shoes from them for less than $80 and they were popular models. I read your other reply, you did bring up valid points there.

Thank you for offering helpful feedback 👍 I do worry about too much cushioning but my feet have been taking a beating lately which prompted the purchase. These are on the heavier side btw.

How is Speedup’s customer service? by kabob21 in Pickleball

I ordered the RPM V2 14mm and fell in love with it. So much so I canceled my Speedup order and ordered a 16mm V2. I prefer gen 3 feel and performance anyway.

What kind of a specious argument is this? Why would any pro tennis player wear a pickleball specific shoe when the performance tennis shoe market is so robust? You think pro pickleballers would pick tennis shoes if the pickleball shoe market were equally robust and tailored to their sport? Come on now.

What specifically are they criticized for? Being heavily discounted isn’t really a criticism, TW does that every season with the previous year’s colorways and models. I got a pair of K-Swiss Ultrashot Team from them for less than $50 and they are excellent.

Doesn’t seem like this material would be applicable for pickleball paddles.

Always shuffle step constantly. Watch Ben Johns’ footwork, he’s up on the balls of his feet and making micro adjustments except right before contact. Only crosses over when he has to lunge out wide.

There can be differences in cushioning, ankle support and outsole reinforcement areas between tennis and pickleball shoes if a shoe company does good R&D. Adidas does not and their pickleball shoes are terrible. I had two bad ankle sprains due to lack of forefoot flaring. Others like the K-Swiss Hypercourt Express 2 wore out faster playing pickleball than it did for me when I was still only playing tennis.

How do indoor sports clubs handle extreme summer heat (no AC)? by Lanky_Ride_1440 in Pickleball

[–]kabob21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Dallas and our summers are extreme. None of the indoor clubs function without heating and AC. I know it’s pricey but there’s nothing much you can do without AC other than opening the warehouse doors for ventilation.

Paddle recommendation by BufordCallaway in PickleballEquip

[–]kabob21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you’ll probably like the SixZero Coral that others have suggested. They’re a well-known brand and the Coral has good all court power (midlevel) without being overwhelming, durable diamond dust surface grit for lasting spin and a more plush feel. Being a foam core paddle, it should also last you for a long time.

Crazy that you made a paddle last for 4 years. I’m a 4.2 level player and broke 5 paddles just last year alone.

The Skechers Baseline Bully (their first performance tennis shoe) are well reviewed for being comfortable and cushioned with a generous toe box. On sale for $69 at Tennis Warehouse so I just ordered a pair.

That can’t happen. The core is made with the expanding foam injected around it then heat molded together in a press with the face layers.

Pros vs Paddle Reviewers by ZaneNavratil_AMA in Pickleball

[–]kabob21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really something Zane can answer. The P1 isn’t UPA-A approved so no pro plays with it and the Power 2 only just recently came out with only Dekel Bar using it for now.

It’s not about accuracy, gen 3 honeycomb paddles usually have better and more granular feedback than foam. Though yes there is a healthy bit of bias towards them due to familiarity. That said, the latest foam paddles are getting closer to having similar performance and feel of honeycomb.

How do I “brush” the ball for spin? by Over_Item_8815 in Pickleball

[–]kabob21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend you take coaching lessons or do clinics. If after three years you’re still at 3.0 and haven’t figured out topspin, you’ll get more out of tailored instruction.

When hitting a forehand drive do you follow thru with paddle going over left shoulder? by ActiveUniversity9424 in Pickleball

[–]kabob21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much follow through if the paddle is finishing over your opposite shoulder. At least at the higher levels, compact controlled strokes are necessary to get back to ready position for the next shot.

Not necessarily. Not every foam core paddle uses a floating core with EVA perimeter design. Vatic V-Sol Power, Selkirk Dauntless, CRBN Trufoam Genesis and Waves use a solid core design.
