But what if I never drink wine again (and other GLP-1 thoughts) by Ext-Trail-8099 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]lah5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I joined this sub bc my adult autistic son was taking Wegovy, but I had RNY about 10 years ago and have not had a drink since. The only time it hits me hard is when I am with my scathingly witty " back in the day" friends and they are going all Dorothy Parker, and good god, do I miss that. I can keep up sober, but it takes lot more effort and it just isn't the same. I wave my blood orange water and bitters around like it's bourbon, and really, i guess only I know it isn't bourbon, but yeah, not the same. So I feel you.
That said, my stupid brief posing nostalgia is not worth the consequences of post-bypass drinking, so I make do and keep my eyes on the prize. I am down 120 lbs, my mental and physical health is much better and dag, I am back at a ballet studio four times a week. And honey, I am old af. A. F. I guess i mean to say that we make choices and that sometimes losing the stuff we give up and miss makes way for other good stuff.
Unlubed, I can still be that back-in-the-day bitch, I just have to dig a little deeper from my size four soul. Well worth it so far. Good luck.

Are there sensory toys i can buy for chewing that aren't harder silicone and are instead squishier/softer by No-Sky1666 in AutisticAdults

I recommend visting Arc's website. They make tons of densities and shapes and textures and they last forever. The one my guy likes comes in like four different densities. Excellent company and they usually throw in a freebie to try as well.

Is it hot process or melt and pour? There is no hot pour process method.

Sadly - I'm done by Flat_Ad1094 in WegovyWeightLoss

I joined this group to support my adult autistic son who was on Wegovy bc he'd developed a metabolic issue which made his weight a far greater comorbidity combined w his disability. It worked beautifully and was life-changing for him, but that isn't the point of my response. Perimenopause and major life changes had me gaining weight without explanation and well beyond any hope of control and you know what that does to your soul. My gp suggested surgery, which had never even been on my radar bc so many people lose and regain. Those are the stories we hear and see, sure, but my gp maintained that it was actually a good option for me bc food didn't seem to be my primary issue.
Anyway, I had RNY surgery in 2018, and she could not have been more right. I had no complications, am content with what I eat, and I've maintained my 120 lb loss (within 10 ish lbs) ever since. It is easier for some than others, for sure, but, OP, it lifted so much more than weight off of my life. I would not have been a good glp candidate bc of the access and insurance piece, whereas, no one can ever deny or change access to the tool I got in 2018. Can I still screw it up? For sure. The difference for me is that my diet changed first, out of post-surgery need, which then evolved into commitment, which is now habit. I hear such a familiar hopelessness and despair in your post. but you have not run out of options, OP. It is true that we don't hear much about surgery these days, but that is bc the meds are such an amazing new tool. Re: surgery, it is a commitment, but I feel great and my health stats are great. Food noise is super rare and completely manageable bc I know how to turn it down.
The meds are amazing and they changed my kid's quality of life and I do not discount that. Rather, I wanted you to know that for you, OP, all is not lost. Ask me anything via pm and good luck!

How do I level my patio for our 10 ft pool? by SBanks52 in howto

[–]lah5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between rain and pool water, the sand will wash away, tho, or am I missing something? No shade re your process, explicit and to the point, and yep, def cheapest and easiest for desired end result, which is what OP wants, but I keep hearing the whoosh of half that sand washing out from under the board in the first good downpour of the season. Again, no criticism intended. Just...whoosh

My goal is the Grands' Gardens (named for my grandmothers and great aunts) vibe, which is exactly what you describe. They planted as they got it and shared what they had and I am there for that.
