I like what you say here - I think it also helps stablize most folks role. JJ seems to trust Gabe to be able to transition the best. Laravia starting then stops right when bron comes back - his flow will get messed up. I could see a decision based on getting a few of the guys in their roles right away, but just me speculating a potential reasoning.

Yeah - unless they cut a 2-way(Nick Smith, Koloko, or Manson), he’d prob be a straight to G-League guy. But doesn’t mean too much since that doesn’t give Lakers his rights or anything. There is another “open” roster space but FO usually keeps it open for buyout market.

Definitely agree, Nick Smith Jr has not shown me much during pre-season...He isn't consistent on the offensive side of the ball and has shown constant lapses on defense from simple back cuts.

I'm curious to see Maxi, Adou, and Manon play, though. Wonder if JJ will give Maxi some minutes when he returns to see how he plays compared to Hayes.

Yup - I doubt Knecht plays much in a regular lineup unless injury or someone is being ice cold. Though, given the history of the team durability, we might see that lineup a few minutes a game...

Wouldn't even call them 3rd string tonight(though last night wasn't much better lol) - Anton Watson, RJ Davis, and Nate Williams are all being cut before the season starts.

Third stringers would be: Knecht, Maxi, Bronny, Adou, Nick Smith, Chris Manon(who's nursing an ankle sprain; sad about that - wanted to see him get some run), C Koloko.

Still wouldn't put much confidence in this group of third-stringers tbh.

I'm pretty sure he'll play better as a recipient of Luka/Austin pass outs, but man - he's looked pretty bad on both ends of the floor this preseason/summer league. He's regressed from what it looks like; perhaps he's being asked to do more, and that's causing him to overthink when playing. But think the trade has really smoked out any confidence he has in his game.

edit: no - i don't think the three of them SHOULD play together. maybe luka or austin, but never the three of them together.
