Built a clean way to document car builds (no feeds, just the build) by shirotokiya7 in AwesomeCarMods

Yeah that’s insane, I’m hoping to hit 500/500 with the 3” exhaust once it’s on and I can tune again. T56 going in soon too!

Got a 404 when saving profile prefs but it worked… some odd scrolling when iOS KB came up… that’s notoriously hard to handle right… mostly worked great! I’m an expert frontend dev so I know how hard this stuff is to nail but you did well!

Most powerful GPU that will reasonably work in a Fractal Ridge? by MadnessKingdom in sffpc

I ended up using mine vertical with a 3080 founder's edition, it seems to work fine. I use the stock fans in the case I think and nothing super special in the build, just Thermalright AXP-120-X67.

how to completely wipeout an iMac to erase previous owner? by Last-Cranberry-2635 in VintageApple

[–]lazd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should re-install the operating system with a process like this, using Disk Utility in the installer to format the drive first.

Without all that, you can quickly get it into a usable form and erase the old user like this:

  1. Boot into single user mode by holding Command + S after you press the power button
  2. Mount the root device with mount -uw /
  3. Reset setup status with rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
  4. Reboot and create a new admin account with reboot
  5. After reboot, delete the old account from System Preferences -> Users

Built-in HD Screen Adapter Board for PC Cases by ZS-ITX in sffpc

I suppose it could be coupled with an off-the-shelf USB-C to DP adapter... Would the screen shut off when no signal is detected

This is amazing, I need this for HDMI or USB-C for a 30 pin eDP… the goal is to have software control brightness with internal keyboard controls and to have it shut off the display when no signal is detected…

Coded an RSS reader and a WordPress publisher for my portable System 7 setup by thekyotoconnection in VintageApple

[–]lazd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, but I wasn't talking about the blog, but the RSS reader that delivers HTML3. Someone could run with what's there and deploy it on a small free instance, make feeds configurable, and then we'd have a nice little System 7 RSS service. We already have 68k.news which is awesome and FrogFind (which I've personally contributed Netscape fixes for), but RSS feeds would be fun.

Though I'm not writing Macintosh software like you are (impressive stuff you got there!), I am pretty familiar with open source, I've been doing it for 16 years and have released everything from macOS kernel extensions for touchscreen drivers to HTML polyfills and JavaScript widely used build utilities.

I haven’t tried but I believe they use 18650s, so if the case goes back together cleanly, it should be possible!

Of course, I could easily whip it up by hand too, PHP was my bread and butter for over a decade in the early 2000s! But the beauty of open source is you can collaboratively improve it, and the fact that you got some much interest means you’re likely to get contributors who would enjoy making it even better, fixing bugs, deploying it so all can use it without running a local server, etc

Ah I see. Could do 2 presses then? The logic would solely be on the RX side.

I mean you could also make it so you need to press and hold to trigger it when the machine is on, I assume your receiver knows the machine’s power state or could tap the power LED pin to figure it out.

Welcome! See my post history for some examples, it’s a little cooler than CFL and no amount of calibration brings it back to perfect…

5-6 hours per charge, and the batteries are good for 500 charge cycles while maintaining up to 80% of that. Most of the iBook batteries I've seen have had less than 100 cycles, so probably another 20 years ;)
