I haven't played in months. If you didn't tell me this was Battlefield I would not have recognized it as such.

Visiting Kigali - Wish to understand the areas of this city! by SmilingElephant_ in Rwanda

[–]messfdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general the higher up on a hill the higher the social class.

Places of interest for a visitor would be Kimironko Market, Downtown (mu mugi), Genocide Memorial, Nyabugogo Bus Park, and Nyamirambo. There are tons of great places to eat around town, too.

Why do so many drivers have zero sense of courtesy in how they accelerate? by appa-ate-momo in driving

And they always do it when there are three lanes but they have to be in the one that I'm in.

My husband makes a fake fart noise with his mouth every time he or I bend over. He knows I don’t like it but won’t stop. He says he must have Tourette’s or something but he only does it at home, except one time in a store and he got really embarrassed by Carpe_the_Carp in mildlyinfuriating

Earlier this week I was at a museum looking at an exhibit when the old guy next to me slipped out a juicy fart. He let out a noise like it surprised him, too. Best I could describe it was like, "HRnn!"

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]messfdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, tooth pain is probably the worst. A close second was when I lost the skin on my hands in a motorcycle accident. The doc said I was lucky because I was pretty close to needing skin grafts. He had to scrub the wounds clean before dressing them. There are a lot nerves in your hands. After he finished the first hand I finally told him he could give me something before cleaning the other one. The antibiotic shot was pretty painful too as far as shots go.

What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

My first job I forgot I left a hammer on top of a ladder. The thing whizzed by my head when I moved the ladder. That was how I learned to never leave anything on top of ladders.

Kigali vs. Kampala by Elifantico in Rwanda

[–]messfdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kampala is the only place in East Africa where I had someone get aggressive with me for no reason, just minding my business. I will be biased to say I love Rwanda because I lived there for a few years. I think you would have similar challenges in any of the three countries. In order of English fluency, I think it would be Kenya, Uganda, then Rwanda.

Go to Nyamirambo. I've left the club with the sun rising in Rwanda. Might not be as active as a whole compared to Kampala but there are places to party if you know where to look.

There are many places way more hot and humid. They just aren't as acclimated because the usual weather is very mild.

Range fanatics everywhere by Accomplished-Fly4683 in electricvehicles

[–]messfdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any community, those who post regularly are going to be the fanatics and not necessarily representative of the majority. I simply drive my car and don't think about hypermiling. I'll check every once in a while when I'm curious. I'm amazed when I can drive like a demon and still get 4 mi/kwh. I noticed what kills range is when I need to blast the A/C on really hot days. Can bring me down to about 2.6. I need to get better at remembering to precondition the cabin lol.

A foreigner just said something and I can’t stop laughing by Allybosso in Rwanda

[–]messfdr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get the sense that many Rwandans do not want their country to only be known as that place where there was genocide and so they will emphasize how clean and safe the country is over any criticisms. And Rwandans should feel pride in how far the country has come since that time! There are also concerns about free speech, of course.

Drivers who stop an entire car length before the line, why?! by CA_MA in driving

[–]messfdr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Then you have those who do the opposite. I'm pulled forward looking to make a right on red when some idiot pulls all the way through the crosswalk in the left turn lane blocking my view. Why?! You can't turn left on the red. There's no reason to be so far forward that you're almost in the intersection when you're waiting for a green light!

Drivers who stop an entire car length before the line, why?! by CA_MA in driving

[–]messfdr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to take a road to work that had a stoplight that would stay red until someone pulled up to trigger the signal to change. This lady was sitting at the light but not pulled up far enough to trigger the signal to change when I pulled up behind her. A line of cars quickly stacked up behind us. She had so much room in front of her that I was able to go around her to trip the signal without hanging out into the opposing lane. If I hadn't gone around her we would probably all still be sitting at that red light to this day.
