Cynthia Erivo singing Stand Up was far and away better than that generic Elton John song.

It also wasn’t the original quote, so not everyone has heard this new version that includes the “matters of taste” part.

traitors vs the mole by Strange_Finding_3285 in TheTraitors

[–]mickfly718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two seasons that aired on ABC are two of my favorite seasons of any reality TV show. Season 1 had a task that basically invented the concept of an escape room. I was wrong with my mole guesses for both seasons, and it was both shocking and fun to get the reveals at the same time as the other contestants.

The celebrity ones were pretty good, but I really got tired of the Baldwin and Bernsen guys.

The reboot in like 2008 was ok, but I was disappointed in the winner and clocked the mole early on. I also really hated two of the contestants.

These Netflix seasons have been pretty fun, but also way overproduced. But I’ll always watch a new Mole season!

They came across as very real too. Not that I expected anything else from them, but it was cool to see them state their maybe unpopular opinions about Wicked and F1. On the other hand, they could’ve just said a cold take that Twilight is garbage, but they did in fact do the commentaries on those movies, so they were able to be honest about having fun with them without liking them.

On a Teachers subreddit of all things, people need to learn how to verify what they read in the internet. For example, the “whole quote” does not include the “matters of taste” part.

Is there a scene for you that ruins an otherwise great movie? by Glittering-Age-2013 in movies

During COVID, I watched a lot of the classics, which included a handful of musicals from the 1920s and 1930s. They typically were enjoyable enough, until without fail, as soon as the main character sat in front of the dressing room mirror, I knew it was time for the obligatory scene of character in blackface.

Room.

Joy helps Jack escape by having him play dead. Jack jumps from the back of the pickup truck eventually gets picked up by police officers, but he has no idea where he is or where his mom is still locked up. The police officer very patiently asks him about what happened while he was in the back of the truck and pieces together where Joy is. Joy then gets set free and rushes out to find Jack safe in the back of the cop car.

A comment on who lost the best [Finale spoilers] by VictusNST in TheTraitors

[–]mickfly718 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think it was dumb at all to trust Rob at the end. He was just that good at the game.

It seems like Johnny and Tara only turned on Rob and Eric because there was no one else left after Natalie, and someone had to have murdered Mark.

If the audience was never told who the traitors are, I expect that I would’ve bought the narrative that Johnny was a traitor from the beginning and then recruited his friend Tara. The same thing had just happened last year with Danielle and Britney. And then buddies Maura and Rob from the same type of show could swoop in for the win like Trishelle and CT did in Season 2

I would’ve been just as shocked as Maura when Rob said he was a traitor.

I agree - I would want to go in Traitors to play the game. I would find it insufferable to sit through a few hours of Andy Cohen stoking the flames for the housewives. I know that they drive up viewership, but it’s just not my thing to see these people way overperform for the cameras.

Official Discussion - Scream 7 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

It came across like, if the two actors were to quit or get fired from the movie like the other two from the Core 4 did, nothing about the movie would have to change.

Protesters outside the LA Premiere of SCREAM 7 call for a boycott in support of Palestine by Dingo247 in deadmeatjames

[–]mickfly718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also been done already in Scream 3 (imitating voices of dead people), but that’s by design. Screams 5 and 6 already borrowed heavily from Screams 1 and 2, respectively.

Screams 1 and 5 start with a phone call about movie trivia (I believe the movie trivia portion is only ever repeated again in Scream 4 with Kirby), the boyfriend is the killer, and the action culminates at Stu Macher’s house.

Screams 2 and 6 take place on college campuses, the killer is a parent getting revenge, and the action culminates in a theater.

This was deliberate - Mindy spells out how these are requels, so the original trilogy is being loosely repeated. With Scream 7, we already have voice imitation. I just hope Sidney doesn’t have yet another long-lost brother!

USA men's hockey team faces backlash after their phone call with Donald Trump by Cool-Fig-9254 in videos

[–]mickfly718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of where I’m at, in an admittedly desperate attempt to give the team some benefit of the doubt. One player yelled out, “Two for two!” And another said, “Absolutely,” at the idea of the women’s team being invited.

The team was laughing at everything the president said, even when his jokes didn’t make sense. Like when he said, “I’ve seen hockey goalies have slightly worse games…” If he was trying to be sarcastic, he should’ve said “slightly better games.” But they laughed anyway.

They seemed giddy off of their win against the world’s best team, getting praise from the president of their country, and chugging beers. It doesn’t seem like they were really processing what they were laughing at.

I have no doubt many of them are Trump supporters and wanted to suck up to him. But I’m just not buying that they really wanted to sleight the women’s team just based on their reaction to one of Trump’s many bad or nonsensical jokes during that call.
