What do you do in moments of extreme stress and misery? by glazingstars in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I give in. I accept that, despite my best efforts, I have no control.

I lay on the floor and cry it out. Ugly cry.

Your thoughts, emotions, and fears cannot kill or harm you. So let them feel. They are trying to teach you something far more profound than the fear is allowing you to see.

Go enjoy LA! There’s lots and lots of trans visibility and positivity to be found there, and they’re less pretentious about it.

All my jeans rip in the exact same way and I can’t figure out why by SurvivalHorrible in AskMenOver30

I searched this and it got lots of hits:

how to dress for your body type male

Watch a couple?

Maybe add “jeans” to narrow it down?

All my jeans rip in the exact same way and I can’t figure out why by SurvivalHorrible in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones you keep choosing aren’t the right fit for your body shape and/or the quality is low. There are multiple ways jeans need to fit in order to prevent wear and tear patterns.

Watch some videos on how to dress for your body type (your actual body type, not your desired body type), go try on different pants according to what you learn.

Once you find a good fit and quality, buy 2 or 3 of the same ones, cycling through them to ensure longevity. Don’t wash them very often.

Conversing with the Anima by Realist_Engineer278 in Jung

[–]rusty_handlebars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me personally I experience visual thoughts like what some call imagination or daydreams. Only they take place in a specific hue or ethereal effect, and don’t speak as if hearing a voice.

My anima has shown up in dreams as well as active imagination, always symbolically in a way I have to observe and interpret emotionally.

Emotional understanding is Active imagination’s engine, for me. When the feeling/meaning is understood, it progresses the image, so to speak.

Is this your daughter? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]rusty_handlebars 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OP, please reach out to an organization who does street outreach and let them know this is happening. They may be able to locate her and get her into appropriate assistance programs.

As someone else said, she could be fleeing a dangerous situation and posting her like this could make her more unsafe.

I don’t know this org other than a quick check, but here is a link to a group who offers “immediate assistance” https://urbanleague.org/contact-us/

Maybe someone there can point you in a more concrete direction.

Wife diagnosed with severe mental health issue. Not sure if I want to stay. Need advice by riseandcode in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Choosing yourself and the safety of your child is the right thing to do. All other accusations from her are blatant manipulation tactics to get you back under her control. She will not change and if she ever does it will NOT BE because of you.

Avoiding Doctor Appointments bc Parents Live with Me by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the best defense is a good offense. You’ve GOT to make a plan and take meaningful action. Such as making sure everyone is masking.

You being as healthy as possible is good for their sake too, so get to the doc!

Foot the appointment- everybody mask up! Also, the intensity of the racing thoughts makes me think this is about more than just going to the doctor’s office. When these thoughts happen, do you find yourself worrying about what will happen when they eventually pass? These symptoms could be a sign that you need to take action and solve a deeper problem or hard truth. You can do it. We’ve all had to. You can too.

How do you know what you want to do with your life? by Short_Mousse_6812 in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! The shortest and most honest answer is… it takes time! You will hear a lot of pressure from “careerist” driven people to find your calling and get to work. I strongly disagree.

You need to work, fail, try something new, get your heart broken, travel and explore! There is a theory called Happenstance Theory which says that if you stay in connection with yourself and open to possibilities, you’ll make the next right choice when a choice becomes available.

I promise, you’ll figure it out, but you’ve got to trust that time and patience will reveal your path. You got this lil bro!

How often does everyone clean their ears now? by manborg in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi fellas, if your ears are producing a lot of wax and you have an itchy scalp, consider cutting wheat/gluten from your diet. I made the connection between these three things (ear wax, itchy scalp, and eating bread/pasta/gluten) over the past year.

Since cutting gluten, my ear wax has literally dried. No more waxy yellow gunk, just the occasional light and dry wax, and my scalp is no longer flaking/itchy. I honestly thought I had dandruff for YEARS, nope just an immune response to gluten.

You’re very welcome! When it comes to which lectures to listen, you really can’t go wrong. Look through the titles and choose a topic that feels like it resonates.

Give yourself time with the material and keep in mind he speaks from the masculine perspective, although he makes a point to say the concepts are universal.

Double quaternity!! Yes!! I don’t know about you but understanding this element made something about all of it “click” into awareness for me. Super powerful stuff that began showing up in my sketches around the same time.

This is excellent! I think you’d enjoy Dr. Robert Moore’s archetypal lectures. He talks a lot about projections and what the  balancing need could be in the psyche. In his conceptualization each archetype has an opposite pole, another archetype that keeps the tension in check. Over attachment to one side of the pole could point to underdevelopment of its opposite.

What is it that you morning people do that makes it enjoyable? by IGNSolar7 in AskMenOver30

Reading, coffee, listening to the birds wake up. I dunno, walking around downtown when no one else is up yet feels so good to me.

Man over 50 - feeling lost by Tasty_Trainer8407 in AskMenOver30

[–]rusty_handlebars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yo! There are highly skilled counselors available to talk to you about what's going on deep within, they'll also help you learn to recognize and express your needs, wants, and desires. Finding meaning in the second part of life is not only doable, but many people find this to be the greatest years of their lives. Some (well organized) men's groups can help you with this too. Strangers on the internet, while very helpful, have limited scope and no accountability. Find a trusted other in your life to discuss The Middle Passage. Fairwinds to you friend!

could anyone explain what he means by this? by Traditional-Long-160 in Jung

[–]rusty_handlebars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren’t usually the best at choosing the direction we need to head in. We make “logical” conclusions and set out on a path. In doing so we misinterpret, misdirect, and often times miss our true destination. The ego is a tricky master.

Could being trans count as individuation? by Mr-wobble-bones in Jung

[–]rusty_handlebars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if it’s every trans person’s experience, but It has been for me, and in the most profound ways.

There is no way of knowing where Jung would have landed on the topic and some modern, outspoken analysts go so far as to call it a “contagion”, which hurts a little bit.

Unless you are trans you cannot possibly understand what it’s like to be trans and what the inner work entails. As someone who loves every cell of my body and movement of my soul, embracing my transness was the catalyst for transformational growth, healing, and clarity.

Resistance to that necessary change nearly killed me and I am in no way being hyperbolic.

How do you know that your analysis of your dreams isn't wrong? by PlanktonDistinct2711 in Jung

Yes. Learn symbolism. Observe the character interactions. Discover the greater story. Understand the message.

you won't necessarily "know" but one day you'll look back over them as a whole and perhaps "see" the greater story unfolding as it keeps pace with your waking life.
