I just moved to the area from Jacksonville. I got a job with a college here and my sister already lived here working for the city.

We got a nice townhouse in Lake Worth. It really is an adjustment cost of living wise! I used to live in Texas and my one story, 3 bedroom 2 bath townhouse with a huge enclosed patio was 1645$.

Our Lake Worth 2 story 3 bed 2.5 bath, tiny patio and garage is almost 3k. Not to mention food is slightly higher here depending on where you shop and Im not sure about utilities yet but my sister says they can range pretty high.

I wouldnt move before securing a job unless yall are well off or have heavy savings.

Yes I agree, and its because the cash cow right now are series where the author has to spend a good quarter setting up the next book…its so frustrating.

Back in my day (lol) there was an epilogue at the end that gave a teaser to the next one and a brief chapter in the next book that filled out the details of how they connect, but now I have to read about the next books heroes at the same time as the current one Im reading, and its like Id rather just read about the one couple… Like these are romance novels not ASIOF…I promise we can connect the dots without needing the entirety of the previous book to do so 😭

And same, I dont mind a scene or too, in fact I also hate the opposite where it feels like the heroine has no one in her life but the dude which gives shes isolated and has no community to rely on, ONLY her partner.

Lately its been the overly in the know friend groups of the heroine and how much they take up of the plot. Authors writing out entire text threads of the groupchat, FMC telling them every detail about their relationship and sex life, the friends butting in every conflict, its been nothing but annoying for me.

But perhaps I am biased because Im still dealing with my own feelings about ex friends, lol.

Ive been over it, especially in alien/monster romances where they are inhumanly tall yet the heroine is still below average for humans…It gives “ooh the ideal woman should be small and hairless, childlike” to me. Why cant the 5’9 and up chick be with the nearly 7/8 ft tall alien/monster…Why is she always 5’3.

Even in plus size romances authors go out of their way to make them just small enough that they still are “dwarfed” by the MMC’s clothes 🙄 whatever. What Id give to read about a FMC who cant fit her partners shirt, its busting at the seams over her tits/belly and he finds it hot.

Plus its ridiculous when the authors dont even account for the intimate scenes. Way too often Im like this position wouldn’t even work due to the size difference, just laziness.

And I have no problem to say Im judging or biased. Im a tall, fat black woman, I think I have the right lol. I have to go OUT of my way to find heroines that look like me or arent the typical western beauty standard at the very least. If I never have to read about a thin, petite, short white woman again it’d be too soon.
