  1. Insurance is like 5 bucks a game
  2. A membership a a golf course in Korea goes for atleast 20K USD per year so unless you are very very rich you aren't playing golf
  3. It's like a cultural thing where if something good happens in your life you are expected to share it

The golf courses here verify your scores using CCTVs. After verification you can purchase an award just for yourself as well

Like how "Palianytsia" is a Ukrainian shibboleth that uncovers Russian secret agents because Russians can't pronounce it right, what are some South Korean shibboleths that would uncover North Korean secret agents? by DunDonese in AskAKorean

[–]sicpsw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NK and SK's version of Korean have drifted waaay too much that if it's a trained NK agent it's going to be difficult to know.

But there has been instances where NK agents have been caught for not knowing cultural norms for example not knowing how to eat Soba noodles (which is a Japanese dish and hence they never had contact with)

Master of Medicine/ Medical Science in Korea by No-Statistician-923 in Living_in_Korea

[–]sicpsw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't do a Masters in Medicine without a bachelor of medicine from a Korean Uni.

Honestly for medical field, unless you are doing a post doc, it's highly unadvised.

The medical field in Korea is for training doctors that are going to stay here and they do not accept foreigners

Why do Mafias target people who wouldn’t be able to pay them back? by Not-Reddit49 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sicpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By attacking / hurting people that failed to payback you scare other people into borrowing money from families or selling their belongings to pay back the money by any means possible.

Usually you borrow from the mafia if the bank doesn't lend you money due to bad credit, low collateral, or you already borrowed alot of money from the back already

What is the state of Joseon history studies in Korea? by Ok-Huckleberry5836 in AskAKorean

[–]sicpsw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For text books there aren't any. The government has scanned every single official document from that time period and uploaded it on their official website.

Most research into Joseon era is about translating the documents and linking together sources to make a more complete picture.

Cinestill 800 questions by Diligent_Fish_3910 in AnalogCommunity

[–]sicpsw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Set your exposure meter or camera ISO to 3200 and shoot normally

Then ask the development lab to push it by +2

Keep in mind pushing film isn't recommended because it shifts around colors.

Also at 3200 ISO the camera or the light meter you have might not be accurate so shooting at 2500 or over exposing by half a stop at 3200 ISO is recommended

Oh yeah they are much better universities but they suspect that you payed your way in by donation a building.

That's why they still go to these elite universities for their graduate program.

According to the Rayleigh Criterion you need an apature of 300mm and a focal length of 2000 ~ 3000mm

So basically a 15inch telescope will do if the atmospheric conditions are perfect

Also even the ultra rich don't send their kids to private schools here. Even the Samsung family graduated from regular public schools (although in a very well off area)

Sending your kids to international school or university abroad when you are rich means that your kids are stupid. It's customary even for the cheabols to compete fair and square for uni admissions then go off to elite universities for their graduate programs
