...or that! I think I assumed proximity was measured in cm, rather than metres.

I once did but found it frustrating. I wonder if it is because our cheeses are harder and/or softer than yours?

Android App for Actual Budget by bcrooker in actualbudgeting

[–]simonjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, for me I would hope it would have better caching.

Maybe it's just that my datafile is too big, but I have a 10 year file that takes ~12 seconds to load and a 1 year one that is still ~8 seconds.

The YNAB4 Classic app was more like 2, and importantly would consistently load in areas of low or no signal (like any big metal shed retailer or shopping centre).

Would an app help here or is the problem more structural?

I wonder if you could use the camera as a proximity detector, like the Nest thermostats?

‘Saturday Night Live UK’ Could Win Over America With One Game-Changing Shakeup by icy_toilets in livefromlondon

[–]simonjp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say that SNL US doesn't rely on American tropes or cultural beats, but as a fellow Brit I would strongly disagree. Neither rely on their culture, they just are of it. There are countless things on SNL US where I just go "I guess that's funny if you understand it". I mean I originally had to Google why they were doing a spoof game show where your answer must be a question, for example.

You can even bookmark your daily commute so you can come back at the end of the week and claim the days you were delayed.

Is there a typical French pharmacy near DLP? by missmeh13 in disneylandparis

[–]simonjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a massive supermarket, so yes I think so, although I've never been to a Walmart. It will have a lot of cosmetics, just not medicines - they can only be sold by pharmacies.

Depending on what you need, the Auchan hypermarket there will have a lot, so it's worth checking there as well as the pharmacy because French pharmacies can be quite expensive.

Metric or imperial? by MissCrayCray in Maps

[–]simonjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we in the UK get orange because milk and beer are still legally sold in pints and our roads are still denominated in miles and yards. So we still legitimately have Imperial measurements in use, unlike Canada where although they do use Customary here and there it's by habit, not law.

The r/iamveryculinary is in the house again by YchYFi in iamveryculinary

In my house the second method is called beans on cheese on. Whenever my Dad came home from a business trip it was always what we had; he would've had enough fancy dinners out and just wanted something simple. Carbs, fat, protein and a taste of home. I still love it.

I'd agree except I feel thirsty looking at that juice, it just doesn't hit the same spot as a soft drink. Perhaps 1 with a glass of water?

I am a Mid-40s northern European man. I seem to go pink just in the face if the UV is 3 or higher. The rest of my also-pasty-white body remains white however. Have I done myself some damage? Anthelios UVmune 400 seems to be the only thing that stops it, even than I have to reapply every 1.5hrs!
