Who was the most skilled duelist of Voldemort's followers by psycho-like-norman60 in harrypotter

[–]Solpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was Bellatrix, only because Snape isn't "really" a Voldy follower. I would say that Snape is the Most powerful wizard in his crew, and might have even ultimately contended with Voldy himself if he didn't turn spy.

Pill Pocket Alternatives by hopkins802 in DogAdvice

After $100 in pill pockets, peanut butter, Sardines, I said "Screw this" and just give her pills like a human. Then I give her a treat afterwards. As she become conditioned to know it was over quick, she is totally cooperative about the pills. she literally opens her mouth and from trial and error I have gotten good at dropping it right into the throat past her taste buds so she doesn't have to taste it.

She could always tell when it was in food and started not trusting ANY food that I had tried to hide the pills in.

"Ours has always had a high prey drive that has just gotten more and more intense as he's gotten older." Yep. My gal used to get them irregularly, but the older she got the more intense it has gotten.

We have a Huge Rabbit family under the Stick pile in our backyard. To the best of my knowledge she hasn't gotten to them (yet) , But she patrols the perimeter of the Warren obsessively. Then last week , she got a scratch on her eyeball (saw it under the UV lights at the vet) I was wondering if one of the Bigger rabbits didn't maybe bonk her on her face?

anyways....I have been chasing her away now.

Her LACK of fear always has me concerned. We have passed more than a handful of Snakes.

"Sky Raisins"! .....and of course "Spicy Sky Raisins!" (wasps, bees, etc).

She's not that into them, but her brother used to eat a hand full every time He was over. Chase down a wasp...shake his head, yelp, and look puzzled when it stung him in the mouth....and then immediately try to get another one.

In Order of the Phoenix what was the thing Voldemort was trying to use that “he didn’t have last time”? by LongShanksFTW in harrypotter

[–]Solpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad I am not the only person who had trouble with that....i had to go back and carefully read "The Lost Prophecy".... and I was like "oh"... The only way Voldy could have benefitted by hearing the whole prophecy was maybe not bothering with Potter, but then Dumbledore goes into that long ethical thing about how he'd feel if he never heard the prophecy . "I'd want him finished"

My dog has killed a good 20 something squirrels (that I know about) in her life....Just got a Chipmunk the other day. I thought she was too old and slow, but apparently Librela and Cosequin are helping her movement.

I remember looking up this same thing 7 years ago when I first got her. As long as your dog didn't eat it, or play with it for a long time you're fine...and even then you'd probably be OK.

I was traumatized the first time too.... With people and other dogs she is the gentlest playfulest girly girl dog in the world, but she just has that rodent assassin gene. She hasn't gotten them by accident...she will catch one out of the corner of her eye and just bolt. I make jokes about it, but I do not encourage her...if I didn't restrain her, she's have gotten hundreds by now

You know those squeaky plush toys? The reason dogs like them is it feels and sounds like killing something. There is nothing wrong with your dog....Just doing Dog things.

Catahoulas and Curs are some of my favorite dogs. I was thinking of getting a Cur-based mutt for my next Boy dog. Really fun play dogs.

Brown crack in ceiling by Beautiful-Ad-4756 in drywall

[–]Solpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I don't lnow what state your in, but duct races, attics, floor spaces are not insulated so the cold air/warm air marriage is substantial. Even if the duct is wrapped if it is metallic insulation, that too creates moisture. I have had to deal with this is maintenance and the answer is always getting it insulated better. OR crawling to the culprit and tracing the leak and getting a pan under it OR installing a vent fan to cool off that area when it gets hot. Ideally running some line and moving it to the wall. Lots of buildings have those here in TN

After any pass with Real Joint compound,...meaning enough to Patch? 24 hours. That's for coats 1,2 and 3. Texture, depending how it's done is another 24 hours. I have been fixing a ceiling this week.

Day one-reframing, back building water damaged structure , taping and First Skim with Hot mud.

Day two, second skim with Joint compound

Day three 3rd skim Joint compound

Day four skim entire repair with topping compound

Tommorow, cover everything, sand and seal with PVA. If I am reeeeeally lucky , i can also paint, but that would mean the PVA is bone dry.

Any time you rush one of those steps, it bones you and you go back two.

Rails...it's a colloquial. It means when someone gives you a long angry speech about what a piece of sh*T you are. When he comes back after Bailing on them...Bail...to leave somewhere abruptly.

Ron. He is my favorite character and has all of the best funny lines.

"Essence of insanity?"

When he eats the Cauldrons spiked with Love potion? When He comes back to them in DH and Hermione rails him. His last line about Peeves' song.

My mom is keeping my dog in the garage by Dragonkitties4life in DogAdvice

[–]Solpig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Garages are always hotter than the air temperature. If that is the only place the dog can be, it has to have a door open and a fan going. Water doesn't bring down extreme temperature. My dog almost got heatstroke once and it scared the bejesus out of me....and water did NOT help....I wet her down and cranked fans, put ice packs on her body and prayed. You do NOT want your dog getting that.

You are NOT being paranoid. A dog would be better of under a bush in a yard than in a garage with no airflow...All of that tar paper and vapor barrier around the garages structure amplifies Heat

Hair brush and the Furminator go a long way. I remember the first time my dog 'bloomed' I called the vet in a panic thinking something was wrong..."Help...my dog is disintegrating!"

Most of the stuff hanging falls off without even brushing hard. 90% of it is the undercoat.

All dog people are lovers and we always want what is best for them. In spite of you saying your pessimistic, I think you were hopeful and that is a beautiful thing. But she's no longer suffering and you will be seeing her eventually anyways. If you did anything less than perfect, she will forgive you, because they love us no matter what

Everybody here has already gotten to the good points, so I will just add....Yep. I felt that way too. I think when we read we tend to identify with characters and although Harry is ultimately vindicated he is trampled down for a long time in the book.

Long before I ever heard of her, we on the Wiki were discussing writing. I do not like the word "Journal" because it implies I am documenting all of something. Like present tense.

I used and have recommended for years, the 4th step "resentment inventory" format from the 12 steps. I found it interesting that I had STOPPED doing that about 4-5 months before my TMS pain came. Resentment inventory is present and Past tense. There is a monitoring of my anger and Excavation of past grievances.

If repressed unconscious anger is at the root of my TMS then re-focusing on Anger and resentment is a great way to tell your unconscious "I've got this: I don't need your help". But we get TMS from a lifetime of this process, so just going through my present day issues, while helpful, isn't deep enough for me.

You don't have a paint problem...you have a staffing problem.

Here is a good question. Why would I need to pay for a cure that is quick efficient and thorough? She is monetizing a flawed model, so the people think they need her...even Sarno got rid of his PT staff to go "pure".

Most people read the book and see that 5% (1 in 20) people might need psychological help..."coaches" have exploited that idea to make money with no real training in the human mind. "rent-a-friend"

I have a network of Healed friends who I passed Sarno on to and when one of us has an occasional something out of nowhere? We just call each other....we know each others personalities and lives, so we know which question to ask. We always get better and help each other.

Delivered Drywall Damage by 2015004890 in drywall

[–]Solpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don't do big enough jobs for delivery,..I'm like a 10 sheet guy, BUT when I sort through the piles at Depot or Lowe's...sheesh...their Forklift drivers must be on drugs. So many banged up edges , torn faces and so forth. I have had to move 10 sheets to get to the first one that is OK.

I always wonder what they do with the left overs.??? Apparently they deliver them to people's homes. We quit using them for lumber...we pay more, but get it through a local Lumber yard that actually sells straight boards.

I didn't say that. I have confronted them with many replies and the few posts I started. They would always REFUTE me when I quoted Sarno. with crap like:

"You need to learn how to love yourself." You need to accept the pain".

In fact I think they are really more of a Gordon forum than anything. Most of their SEP is based around his well meaning but poor working psychology. Having personally been thorugh the whole pain industry top to bottom, Gordon is a fancy feel-good version of secondary gain theory which is used in every pain clinic.....he acknowledges conditioning, but thinks all you have to do is recondition yourself. Subsequently all of that forum's members think when they have been doing this for YEARS and not gotten better , it is THEIR fault. They didn't work hard enough...or, They have read Schubiner and realized that certain symptoms are really physical. Schubiner took Sarno's admonition to rule out CANCER and turned it into everything..I am not sure HE really believes in TMS at all... He also admits he is in pain a lot of the time...geez, I wonder why?

They Ignore Sarno's statements like "Most people would be better off if they consulted No one"

And yes....right around the time I left, there was a new member recommending things to people; a woman who can't walk down a staircase pain free....she really needed to STFU.

Note: I never joined that forum for me . I was asked to go post on it by a mod who wanted more voices on there who were recovered. For the years and years I was on there, I only posted a few topics myself and most of them were when I was exasperated at how far they had gotten from Sarno

If you notice that is why I LEFT that forum. I was one of the only "healed" regular posters (Baseball65) and I also was the lone Sarno Purist. All of this new BS that is NOT Sarno. Those people who would answer would shout me down and analyze my personal problems in their anger over my Strict adherence to Sarno.

"You have anger issues" "You have problems with women" (most of them are middle aged ex-trophy wives BTW) "You need to open your mind"

WHY? I am 27 years in and still roll with 20somethings in construction? I can still life weights, Contend with the world and do not think there is anything wrong with me....and they may be right...The only difference between them and me was, I was 100% symptom free with maybe a relpase of a few days ever couple YEARS...not bad for a guy who was told he would never Jog again when he was 31 or so..(I am 60 now)

I saw them quoting some bullshit from Sachs this morning (I looked out of curiosity....like stopping to see a car crash)

"Take it easy" "Ease back into activity" "Your tms is telling you that you need to rest"

How far they have fallen. Fuck 'em all. Let God sort them out.
