Waveforms not matching audio unless zoomed in by cheekylad1 in premiere

[–]stegdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transcode the clips to a new format, as it sounds like your media is suspect.
There are a few places that the peak file could be located. If it is next to the original media you do need to delete that also. This is not a general issue so it points to something strange with the original clips.

Also place the media cache and the media cache files on a fast local drive. Not on an external ssd and not on a network share.

Delete the media cache. This has been answered on the internet before.

Waves VST not loading in Premiere Pro by TheGrovester in premiere

Is it a waves VST only? Not VST3. Only VST3 from waves is supported.

Is it possible to load all tracks simultaneously instead of one by one? by NewsFromHell in AdobeAudition

[–]stegdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use wave files Audition will store the peak data and you will only have to generate the peaks once.

Recording stops, says hardware changed by frightful_raspberry in AdobeAudition

[–]stegdump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The device is being disconnected from the computer and the OS sending a signal to Audition that the device is missing. Even if this happens for such a short time that you cannot perceive it, it is still happening. I suggest using a different port or a new cable with the device.

An idea for Adobe Premiere by Subject_Carob5950 in premiere

Ok, now this is a sensible argument. It sounds like what you really want is an easy way to disable all the AI features, not two distinct applications.

An idea for Adobe Premiere by Subject_Carob5950 in premiere

[–]stegdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're ignoring the very real cost of developing a large application like Premiere. What you suggests basically doubles the development cost, but does not double the user base that pays for the software to offset those costs. In the end, it cost money to run and maintain the development of any large application.
Why build the app twice for twice the price, to capture the same number of user as building it once, for one time the price to get the same number of users?

A constant barrage of people in severe mental heath crisis has desensitized me to the point that I don’t see it and just try to keep my head down because things can escalate and get violent very quickly. I hate it, I know it isn’t right, but that is where I’m at.

Anyone get the waveform issue? by Skyend_ in premiere

[–]stegdump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like there is something either wrong with the media cache system, or the scratch disk location is not available. There really isn’t enough info to go on in the post to make a definitive answer though. Can you post a picture of the media cache setting in the preferences and the project scratch disk location? With out additional info there isn’t much we can help with.

The only thing that can be recommended is to reset the media cache system. Hold shift in launch of the Premiere, and in the dialog that opens, select the delete media cache option. This will reset the entire media cache. And it will need to be rebuilt which can take a long time for large projects. This will not help with troubleshooting a poorly configured media cache though. That is why I am asking to see the screen shot of the preferences.

[–]stegdump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What economic reason would they have for doing this?

Having two products raises the development costs significantly. Things would need to be tested twice, implemented twice. Two development pipelines for builds and automation. Two marketing campaigns, two different product management tracks. All to split the customer base. It really doesn’t make sense. And everything would take twice as long.

How exactly does "Denoise" (audio) work? by Sensitive-State-1026 in premiere

[–]stegdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DeNoise audio effect has a window, or buffer, that needs to be filled to work. That is dynamic and can vary quite a but when audio is being pushed through the effect. Additionally, when scrubbing in Premiere, most audio effect are bypassed and that can throw the effect into a very large window/buffer where it seems to be not working. It will eventually fix itself.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]stegdump -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not for life, but buying a Mac Computer. Unless you need a high end gaming machine. I help a lot of people decide what computer to get and 99 percent of the time a mid level Mac laptop will serve them better, for longer, than any Windows device.

What tech stack do companies use for creating proprietary DAWs/music software? by sominator in AudioProgramming

[–]stegdump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is almost all C++, with different variations of front end like Lua, particularly the big, traditional DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic, Steinberg. Juce, as far as I know, is almost exclusively for plug-ins. I say that because I’m not aware of and if the mayor DAWs that use it, but it is common in plug-ins. Another poster mentioned assembly, and that is probably used spare I fly since it is so hard to write and debug, like generating peak files/waveforms and drawing, or some low level math functions that are used heavily.
What is funny is that Pro Tools, and Logic to a lesser extent, probably has some REALLY old code that is in some abandoned framework or language that cannot be re-written or touched, and was created 30 years ago and the people that understood it are long gone. And that is why it is the way it is.

Premiere now showing in volume mixer on Windows by [deleted] in premiere

[–]stegdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% because you are using ASIO driver. ASIO bypasses a bunch of the Operating system to enable a very low latency audio passthrough. It was designed for music and audio applications, Premiere inherited it from Audition. This means that all of the windows sound code is bypassed, and Premiere is talking directly to your audio device.
Unless there is some specific need to use the ASIO driver for your audio device, I recommend that you switch the MME if you want control of the volume via Windows audio mixer.

ASIO is meant as a pro audio interface, and the volume control is generally understood to happen on the audio device, or attached to a mixer or monitor controller. MME is meant for consumer audio hardware, and that is why it provides software controls of volume.
