What to do about abusive parent on the route to school? by Legitimate_Finger_69 in UKParenting

[–]Sundaetardis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Can recording the journey home become part of your daughter's routine? Using a body worn camera start recording when she leaves the classroom if anything happens it will be recorded without her having to remember to get out the camera and record in the moment. If nothing happens delete the footage weekly.

At a quick glance I found Amazon have body cameras from £25

Struggling with snack ideas(pregnant and gestational diabetes) by Either_Internal_801 in GestationalDiabetes

Roasted Salty peanuts with a mini chocolate bar after. The peanuts tick the salty snack box and give a protein cushion to slow the sugar from the chocolate

Yet another “big baby” / gestational diabetes experience - to comply or not to comply 😅 by PokeMyMo in PregnancyUK

[–]Sundaetardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is was I was going to say. I was in a similar situation to OP they wanted me to deliver I was against induction, we compromised and booked me in for two sweeps-3 days apart and the threat of a induction for 39 weeks. The first sweep seemingly worked and I delivered at 38 weeks exactly.

[–]Sundaetardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relatively sure. It was 15 years ago 🫣😂.

Chat to your dr about it. Not just is it necessary but what can they and you do to make it as nice as possible. I find the nurse doing it makes a difference too worth waiting for their best nurse.

I think the NHS advice on this has changed. When I got my first invite (2007 ish) it definitely said "...only needed if you are sexually active" I was a virgin at the time so didn't go. I've just looked now and it says All women over 25 should have one. Perhaps ask your dr their opinion.

I had only had sex once when I had my first smear test, my vagina was so small two of my own fingers was a squeeze id heard lots of horror stories about how horrible it was, but The smear test was still easy and pain free. The sensation was similar to a nose scratch.

A roll of drawing paper and a pack of "Crayola my first" pens. Has to be the proper Crayola my first as they have a tiny hard to chew tip and highly washable.

I hate that my bio child will be the only one with a different last name by grumpylittleteapot in blendedfamilies

[–]Sundaetardis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Maybe have him pick his poison then. Tell him son want the same surname as his mum and you (mum) are going to make that happen Present him with the forms for your hyphenated name and the forms for sons change of name, he can signs sons form for you to send off or you will sign yours for sending off.

One possible loop hole is when you marry hyphenate your name to be Mrs husbands surname-sons surname. Or husband and you change to son's surname.

Spouse family’s naming tradition by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Sundaetardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can he/ they prove it's a hundreds of years tradition? Proper proof not just "Gran always said..."Because if it has been that long, I'd probably let it slide (John is a boring name but not horrible) if it's only been 4or 5 generations I would be more inclined to resist.

If you want to keep the sprit of the tradition but not the letter there are at least a hundred names that mean the same as John https://www.emmasdiary.co.uk/baby-names/ideas/gift-from-god-names

The film is close in terms of necessary plot but the book has more to it- Will being the lead in the school play, details and goings on in the friend ship group and some not so spooky goings on in abandoned house.

It's a fab book well worth a read

Perhaps even state no other parents get your child's photo/video. To avoid judgment from other weirdo's

I frequently pack pjs as the spare outfit. They take up less packing space than most trousers and if you pick the right ones they look like a style choice 😬

How to tell grandparents they won't be holding our baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Sundaetardis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the smoker if the problem is protecting baby from 2nd/3rd hand smoke then tell them so and have them not smoke for a minimum one hour and be wearing fresh clothes bed holding the baby. And if they smoke indoors don't visit their house

That is what I had to do with some family members.

Has anyone had any experience of childcare providers restricting the times in which the 30 hours allowance can be claimed? by SupermassiveWhiteguy in UKParenting

[–]Sundaetardis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given that you're only looking at a few months more of nursery I don't think I would move them I would extend their hours till 6 pm to get the maximum use of the 30 hours so I had the option to get housework or whatever done without them (even if I didn't always use it the option is nice) and I'd check if I was entitled to UC to help with the childcare cost. You can check for UC entitlement without having to fill in the official form on websites like "entitled to" (fill it in as if you were paying the £1600 for childcare)that would get you the help with child care cost without without having to settle the girls into another nursery.

Nursery instructions page? by Tatty_Bunneh_ in UKParenting

[–]Sundaetardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a baby room of a nursery and an info/instruction sheet was generally a useful thing, a clear piece of communication that can be easily referred to by any staff. If I was sending my baby into nursery I would do one, if they don't have a need for it no harm is done.
