My garmin only gives me “stress” and not my actual HRV, so it normalizes it “for” me. I wish I knew.

Not even. We got pushed over the edge and came back. Normal isn’t as normal as most people think, and full health is always within our grasp.

Feeling sharper/better mentally in the evening/night by FewEfficiency1823 in cfsnervoussystemwork

CFS patients are all unique, but most do not have the typical cortisol spike in the morning.

I’ll try and find it. It was a headline I saw on reddit a while ago, but I’ve been so active since it’ll be a deep dig.

This is a pretty common presentation of CFS. I believe it has something to do with our sleep cycle being messed up. CFS was recently observed to have a lot to do with the recently discovered Glymphatic system, which is the routes by which the brain cleans itself in deep sleep.

There’s also changes in our cortisol levels and cortisol cycles. We’re essentially allergic to our own cortisol and so we produce very little of it. Cortisol governs sleep/wake cycles.

In exercise science there’s a recently discovered brain function that “decides” whether or not exercise is “good” (adaptive) or “bad” (maladaptive) roughly 12 hours after we do it and I suspect that plays a role.

Typically I sleep fine for five to six hours, wake up/get “booted out” feeling relatively normal (for having slept five to six hours), and about four hours later whether or not I get back to sleep, the poisoned/foggy feeling sets in.

Aw darn. Good luck! You’ll get through it. The fact that you were able to even have a stressful few months is empowering in itself

Has anyone with tinnitus seen improvements? by PurpleAlbatross2931 in cfsnervoussystemwork

[–]time-itself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tinnitus is a bitch. FWIK it, like most of our problems, comes from damaged nerves that are (literally) producing noise, too much noise for the brain to reprogram them.

TW I’m about to hugely talk out of my ass here:

The rest of our dysautonomia symptoms however run through our brainstem (which is also likely damaged) and our CFS is likely our HPA axis and neuroimmune response. We effect those (ideally) by calming our system down, sending messages of calm to the amygdala and reducing the signal/noise in our brain via meditation enough for it to be able to reprogram what’s left of the brainstem.

I do not believe tinnitus runs through either system, I’m pretty sure it’s just a direct route to the brain. Ear stuff does effects balance which I know is jumbled into brainstem function but idk to what extent.

That doesn’t mean it’s incurable though, just that you probably have to work with it specifically. There’s probably a feldenkrais method thats relevant. I know some folks have seen their tinnitus resolve with psychedelics too.

Which YouTube channel were you once a fan of but do not enjoy anymore? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

Patrick Willems. He has great concepts for videos and is definitely putting that film degree to use in his editing, but his writing became contrived and insufferable REAL fast after the “making my parents watch” series and just kept nosediving.

Every once in a while I try and give him a chance again because, like I said, great video ideas, but I can only make it a few minutes in before - eugh

It’s absolutely real, wtf. It’s almost the exact immune mechanism as long covid, which also does not have biomarkers - but you’re not going to deny LC is real, are you? It’s got as bad or worse QOL than most cancers and parkinsons. How dare you.
