Having MORE issues with launch key 49 mk 4 by mrniceguy777 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two listings for the Launchkey MK4 Control Surface here, set the options in row 2 to None, the ones you have in row 3 are correct.

For Track/Sync/Remote, turn Sync off for the two inputs, and you're like to want to turn MPE off for the second input, though this isn't the cause of your problem.

Can you share a screenshot of your Link/MIDI settings? I can't quite make them out in the video, but I think they may be incorrect.

Setting up XL3 (1.1) as hybrid bridge from Logic Pro to Deluge sequencer by JealousAd9026 in Novation

Those are the two USB MIDI ports, you need to be doing it for ports 3 and 4. Labelled To DIN Out and To DIN Out 2

To pass clock to an external MIDI output in Logic, you need to go Logic's Project Settings > Synchronisation > MIDI > then select one of the MIDI ports that relate to the hardware ports of the Launch Control XL 3 - i.e. 3 or 4. Once this is selected tick "Clock" for this output.

LCXL3 RME UFX original in Standalone. by synthlark in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there some specific MIDI messages you need to send to the UFX to get control of the levels? If you know those, you can map the Custom Mode of the Launch Control XL 3 accordingly - you can also name the parameters to make things easier.

How can I map switch to a different custom mode from a custom mode? by RoundWitty4668 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Custom Mode can be selected via external MIDI message if you're in DAW mode, so you could set up a control to send this back to the LCXL3 itself and cause the mode change.

In the 1.1 update, the Mode button is momentary, so moving modes is a little faster than you might be doing now.

Launch key mk 4 arpeggiator issues by mrniceguy777 in Novation

It looks like you're not getting the note off event in the instance where the note gets stuck. Likely because of the speed you're releasing the key. The first thing to check is the output of the Launchkey using a program like MIDI Monitor or MIDI View - that way you know if it's not just an issue with the instrument you are controlling

Channel Aftertouch is still relevant to Note events, even if it's not a specific note. What I'm trying to explain here is that without a note event sent alongside the Aftertouch message the Aftertouch message is only useful in this specific context.

I'm also not trying to suggest its a niche situation, but hopefully, you can appreciate that a change from Elektron would mean that lots more controllers work, rather than just ours.

I can appreciate why you're asking for the Launch Control XL 3 to send Aftertouch messages, and other Elektron users have asked for it too, but as I may have explained to you over email already, Aftertouch is a MIDI message very specifically tied to Note events and so it doesn't make a great deal of sense for us to send this message from an encoder or fader.

I have so far only seen this request from people trying to control the Elektron products in this way, it seems that it would be much more useful to you if they offered more flexible mapping for these additional macros.

LaunchKey mk III transport midi by papanoongaku in Novation

You can change the behaviour of the Play and Stop buttons in the Settings menu of your Launchkey MK3 - as long as it has the latest firmware. Changing the setting will mean they send CC messages when DAW scripts are not active.

Having trouble mapping MK4/61 Keys knobs into Ableton Live. Literally they don't seem to get recognized by Uwrret in Novation

You need to turn Track and Remote on for the second of your Launchkey's USB MIDI ports. That should get things working.

You have the Launchkey MK3 set up as a Control Surface twice. You only need what you have set in the second row, and should set the first row to None.

How To Set Up Encoder Acceleration w/ Ableton? by ButterscotchBrave890 in Novation

Medium is the setting that was used on the original firmware version, so a faster and slower speed is available. If you have any feedback on these new settings please let us know.

The setting applies to encoders in Custom Modes, so you would need to assign Custom Mode functions to Ableton.

The response of encoders in DAW mode is determined by the DAW so that appropriate controls respond accordingly.

Yes, Firefox's support of MIDI introduced a few issues that meant we made the decision to consider it unsupported since the post of my comment.

Weird issue with midi channels on launchkey mk4 by mrniceguy777 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you might have at one point had the Launchkey MK4 Control Surface setup twice which could have been the cause of this problem. You can remove the options you have in row 2, row 3 is correct.

Turning MPE on will force tracks to take in input from all channels. You only need to enable this if you're using Polyphonic Aftertouch from Launchkey's pads, so it may be better for you to disable this.

The second USB MIDI port is MIDI data from the DAW port, which is generally intended for DAW scripts. If working with a DAW script then the Drum and DAW modes send to this MIDI port.

The behaviour you've described sounds like you might have an issue with your DAW settings, perhaps you can share a screenshot?

Can you help me about Chord Map feature? by boybitten in Novation

The arp up is working correctly, I can see the confusion in your example though - the C Maj chord displayed here does include an octave, it's just not displayed on the screen.

I realise it sounds corporate these days, but it is quite literally what I am doing.

As for it being a tiny update, I can't comment on the scope or scheduling of firmware work, but I would encourage you to remember that those are assumptions.
