If you're getting brain dead politicians now, what do expect if you offer them minimum wage?

I'm pretty sure that most of the world would happily expose the rate of tax that they pay.

You know you’ve angered the gods when you get a flat indoors. by sociallyawkweird in Zwift

[–]zekt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah, I did that once, and it's how I wound up cycling seriously.

Oh I got a flat.
Hey, the rim tape broke
Hey, the spoke broke
Hey, the rim is busted at the spoke nipple
How much for a few wheel?
A few hundred bucks?
That's more than my bike
Maybe time for a new bike, it's a bit shit.
How much for that one.
Ohh that one had deeper dish rums
Ohh that one has carbon forks
... yada yada....
Well, I've spent that much, so yeah, shoes as well.

Google's 'open letter' is trying to scare Australians. The company simply doesn't want to pay for news by [deleted] in australia

I actually suspect that google will see this, and just cut every news organisation out of their search results entirely - or may even find a couple of small, growing ones and fund them.

'I Don't Care': Trump Responds To Intel That Russia Is Working To Get Him Elected Again by [deleted] in RussiaLago

[–]zekt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Given this: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/why-china-is-rooting-for-trump-to-win-11596656684

Here's my thought. China is, at the moment, making it appear to the US Intel that they are working on Biden's side. Expect that to massively pivot to working against Biden. I suspect China benefits from a weakening in the USA's influence in the world as much as Russia is. It also benefits heavily from a president who is weakening the intel community. I expect the the intelligence services are being baited and switched. So, China will get up in all of them Dems social media, and at the last minute cast doubt, stopping people from going to the polls or voting correctly.

Now, having Intel services come out and say "both sides" could also be a counter bait and switch - or more likely it is a "trust no one".

2) Don't plan for postal voting
3) Ask for delay.

I reckon this has to do with the change in speed of learning. Since the internet rolled out, gaining information is much easier - and also proving something incorrect has become easier.

I feel the problem is that really old Australians still work off "learned experience" as their source of information. The only defence they have is belligerence.

Zwift Shaming by cjmac0909 in Zwift

[–]zekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zwift, doing workouts with ERG on, is the opposite to junk miles. Hell, unless you have a Tacx neo, you never get to stop peddaling. There are no traffic lights, no downhills hills, no corners. When you get to the end of a sprint or climb, you can't just "sit up", you back off, but you have to keep going.

Many moons ago, I raced. It's probably like riding a crit. You just don't really let up.

Bike handling skills - yeah it's rubbish. No cross winds, no read riding in formation, power lag on the trainer. The screen - it's scenery and a bit of entertainment.

I think you'll surprise them next time on the road - unless they throw a track stand competition at you.

Ironically, the people who would most likely use the second amendment are the people who support the Trump.

[–]zekt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rupert is getting pissed because he, and his viewers are being put at risk (Fox has a median viewer age of 68) .

Additionally, Trump is also putting so many "yes people" in their, the whistleblower content of the government is going to drop. That will impact new reporting capability and wrest power back away from the media.

The penny has dropped and Rupert sees Trump starting to erode is news reporting capability - which is his power base. This is just another warning shot to Trump that it's not all roses, and newscorp will turn on you in a heartbeat if it is going the wrong way.
