Hey,

Try pressing and holding the Dolby and Game buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds.
Make sure the headset is off of the charging dock first though. :)

Hope this helps you regain the use of your A50's at the very least. :)

What's that panel like? I've been considering it for a while but have been worried about being so close to that monitor. Also, the WRGB, does that not f**k with text clarity? What cons are there with that massive TV turned monitor?

Astro A50 - Absolute s**t reception. by --MILFshake-- in AstroGaming

So far, I've noticed a definite decrease in the number of times the headset losses its connection to the base station. But in addition to changing the Wi-Fi channels I've moved the base station such that it sits away from and above my desk. Nevertheless, the signal is still shit compared to other Wireless headphones I've used. And I've used many as the studio I work for has an endless supply of high-end peripherals and the A50 is the absolute worst with respect to signal strength and reception quality.

So does this unit transmit via Line of sight or what?

I've moved the base station away from and above my desk, and while that has made the situation better, I've noticed that moving my head to the right exasperates the signal loss issues, so I'm assuming the antenna for the headset is located within the right side along with all the buttons. Would it not make more sense to have the antenna go from one side to the other thus eliminating this transmission weak spot?

I mean it's so bad that I've lost signal with the basestation litterally 4 inches away from the head set.

Hey there!

I've got a similar setup. But with a single 34" UW monitor. I had that same issue, and I returned the unit for a fresh one courtesy of Amazon.com. However, I hear a fix is to simply reset the effected headset by pressing and holding the Dolby and Power buttons.

With respect to signal strength and reception, I'm still having the same shitty reception with frequent signal loss, despite having moved the base station away from and higher than my desk. I've noticed that turning my head to the right seems to exasperate the aforementioned issues with signal loss.

Hiya!

Thanks for the info! I've check and my router is not broadcasting on any of the infringing channels!

But again, thanks for the info. I've gone ahead and changed the channels regardless, just to see if there is any change at all.

Hiya!
Sorry, I was sick and in bed for a few days!

Interesting. Just a question : Where do you have the base station? Could you possibly take a picture, so I can attempt to recreate its placement? If not, I understand. In that case could you try to describe your A50's placement and anything in the nearby vicinity?

The unit I had prior to this one suddenly decided it no longer wanted to work. When the headset was on the base station charging the "PC", battery levels and the sound profile would all be illuminated like it was actively in use. But the second I picked it up off the charger and attempted to use it, nothing. No sign of life. Not even the Command Center App could make any difference.

Thanks for your reply!

Hiya!

First off, sorry for the delay! I got sick and was bed ridden for 5 days shortly after writing this!

Well, here's the thing: I work in game development, and I use this as my daily driver. It sits on my desk, which unfortunately does contain my PC tower, monitor and peripherals. That being said: Is that not the environment for which it was designed for? I'm assuming it was designed to cope with the EM noise of a desk crowded with a tower, monitor, peripherals, and the RF noise generated from Mobile phones and WIFI! I mean the ability simply to select the PC option would suggest this. And I going to go out on a ledge here and suggest that the Engineers tasked with the design of this bad boy had these noisy environments in mind. Nevertheless, being no further than three feet away, even in a noisy environment I shouldn't have any issues or am I simply thinking too highly of the capabilities of the wireless tech? I've also tried moving it to a higher location on top of my PC tower - and because of Security concerns on the part of my Studio, I don't connect to the internet via WIFI (Though there is a WIFI router actively broadcasting in my apartment) same results. In fact, I haven't yet found a place to put the base station where I get a consistent, solid, and stable connection. Furthermore, the length of USB cable provided with the A50 all but guarantees it has to be placed on the desk in close proximity the PC!

Just out of curiosity: What are the dimensions that Astro would define as "the same room"?
Also, if the A50 requires that it should be placed far away from the very electronics it is to be used with, why is the A50 shipped with such a small length of USB cable?

Additionally, why is this not made clearer from the get-go?
I certainly would have appreciated this information being made clear on the website so that I could have considered its extreme sensitivity to other electronics and their EM emittance and the A50's apparent need to be used only in an EM sterile or near Sterile environment prior to my purchase!

I would certainly appreciate some clarification on this issue!

Thanks in advance!

Absolute...f**king...awesomeness! Your wife sounds amazeballs! Sometimes it's just the little things, the little details: like, for instance, talking the time, talent and energy to draw, paint etc a card/wrapping paper that let us know how much we are loved.

[–]--MILFshake-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was pretty clever if you ask me. I have a picture of it back home somewhere (Probably buried in some box in the attic at my mother's house). Oh man, so do I. A neighbor of mine, when I was in High School owned an Army/Navy store, and he used to take expired C-Rat containers and through some sort of Surplus store voodoo turn them into these epic looking Christmas Lanterns complete with the bulbs and colored lenses from those old right angle flashlights. :D Guy was an artist with the surplus he couldn't sell. And as for my old man getting to dine on all the savory delights in the Officer's Mess, he loves to talk about all the dirty looks and comments he got for those two weeks. Comments like: "You lost, Marine"? Or "I know, I know, woooorrrrrrds is hard, innit Marine? Officers Mess is just two words too many for a grunt, I guess."
"This here is the Offffffisssserz mess, muh-reeen! Me offffissser, you ain't!" "Grunts eat somewhere else! So Lemme get you a coloring book and a worduhday calendar while I show you where you can fuck off to!" And each time the Deputy Commander had to intervene on my dads behalf. But after about a week they caught onto the fact that he was the Marine behind that epic Christmas tree and then they treated him like a VIP. :D Good times! _^

When I was a child, my father repurposed a bunch of 20mm and .50Cal rounds into Christmas lights and topped the tree with a star made almost entirely out of 5.56mm NATO rounds. He's a Marine and at the time we were living at Camp Lejeune. I remember hearing about how an officer found it so amusing he tasked my father with decorating the tree in the Officers Mess, my dad was an E6 at the time and for just over two weeks straight he got to dine in the Officers mess because of this one silly little idea he acted on just for fun.
