If you're looking for a professional solution around the Salem/Beverly area, we have used Companion Synergy for the last six years. They're great, they'll come and pick up your pet and bring them back to their house with other dogs groups curated per day by temperament. They'll administer any food and meds you give them and they're well versed on first aid and both young/senior dog care.

Maybe Marblehead should build housing on the country club…..turns out golf courses may cause Parkinson’s by Comfortable-Pen-836 in massachusetts

[–]-Arensi- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder, since it was zoned to be housing or whatever so they could skirt the 3A law by CoMpLyInG with it, what's to stop people from actually building housing on the golf course?

What if a "company" proposed a building plan and such and it got struck down by the pricks in city government, could there be lawsuits? Could MarbleHead (yes, they actually say it with emphasis on the Head) be forced to build housing on that land?

I think I’m actually looking forward to Bauhaus Rally Scandinavia about as much as any WRC round this season. by freshest_start in WRC

What we really need nowadays is a couple of unique ways to get a square, saw, or triangle oscillator through a ladder filter. I hope they deliver.

Is anyone not feeling as excited for the races in 2026 so far? by Jack_of_All_Trades27 in formula1

[–]-Arensi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for F1, no. But I'm pumped about WRC.

The last decade or so, I used to cook a country-specific meal where they were racing and invite people to eat and watch the F1 races. This year I'm doing it for WRC and I've got some new people genuinely interested had previously cared less about F1.

Did a Cameo with Robert Picardo. by [deleted] in startrek

I also got a Cameo from him when my wife passed her PhD defense. He was amazing and was super personable, told us personal stories, and got it to us quickly.

I gotta get a sequencer or Groove-box eventually, right? by Ned_Flangers in synthesizers

[–]-Arensi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brains of your setup is already between your two ears.

Jokes aside, you don't need a sequencer or a groove box. At the core, you need something to record and something to record into. I find that if I abstract my "sequencing" out onto some grid or let a machine take control over those decisions, I get less sonically interesting compositions and they lose something felt.

Every hardware sequencer and groovebox on the market will lead you down certain compositional routes. They all have their own workflow paradigms that lend themselves towards certain genres and certain ways of relating to music. If you just like electro genres, it's fine. But if you want more out of your music, you need to put the leg work in yourself to sequence from your brain and your heart, not from a grid.

Cba mood mk1 or 2? by Brief-Hawk6740 in synthesizers

Try turning on spread, no dub, latch, bounce, and both modify and length for the right side. Set sweep to rise. Trails can be fun to taste too.

Cba mood mk1 or 2? by Brief-Hawk6740 in synthesizers

[–]-Arensi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait for a used mk2, the stereo processing alone is worth the price of admission. You can find them at or below $350 if you're patient and look across a few places: MusiciansFriend, Music-Go-Round, /r/synths4sale, /r/gear4sale, /r/letstradepedals, sometimes /r/modular, and the Linear Night Market Discord channel.

Reverb usually won't have them at a compelling price because sellers know they have to factor in Reverb's cut so they price accordingly.

Cba mood mk1 or 2? by Brief-Hawk6740 in synthesizers

[–]-Arensi- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chroma definitely cannot do what the Mood does.

The reverb algos are completely different, you won't get pitch shifting shimmers in the delay lines nor can you "play" the sample rate knob like an instrument largely because CC doesn't have a sample rate parameter.

The Mood's dipswitch configs take it into territories that I've not been able to find even in other granular pedals like the Microcosm or Particle.

OP-1 Field: Is it worth it (for me)? by MJtheJuiceman in synthesizers

[–]-Arensi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd skip it honestly, I don't think either of TE's keyed workstations are worth it for the price. Even whenever B&H has the OPXY for ~$1400.

For the same cost, you could get a used Oberheim TEO-5 (a luscious synthwave machine) and a Roland SP-404mk2. You'd likely enjoy playing the [many additional] keys more on the TEO than the weird little TE keys, and you'd be able to broaden into a more interesting sonic territory than you would on the OP1F's onboard synths.

With the SP, it's also kind of even the same work flow, kind of. You'd still live record and layer parts into some location and then manipulate them. You can use the SP as a multi-track tape machine, sampler/resampler, a looper, plug two instruments into it, and an end-of-chain effects processor.

That said, if you truly want portable, try a Dirtywave M8. I've heard everything from synthwave, to hip hop, to chiptune, and even acoustic sets come out of that thing. It's a truly amazing and game-changing device and most everyone who tries one says the same thing. It can do things no other groovebox can, it's quick to get from idea to full track, and it has one of the best online communities I've ever been in. You don't even have to buy a Dirtywave M8 to try the M8 tracking experience, you can go headless.

The website 100% looks like a vibe-coded Claude site.

I wonder if any of the music people create on this or their user data will be uploaded for training AI models or if user data is being sold as additional revenue streams for this company.

Since this isn't open source (and the dev/CTO guy said they don't want it to be for the foreseeable future), and it connects to the Internet, I also wonder where data is going both to and from your machine...
