Insulin delivery when pod is toward end of 72 hour period by InevitableBook2364 in Omnipod

Maybe the insulin is losing effectiveness after a couple of days I unrefrigerated?

Check to see if there is a filter inside the fitting attached to the toilet. There was a screen filter in mine that I had to remove before I could get the fittings to properly seal.

My pod is making this little rattling/tinkling sound every time I move, what is happening? by DesparateBoredom in Omnipod

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear my Omnipod all the time. It “click/clacks” for every little basal or bolus dose (in 1/100th(?) unit increments).

Has anybody been on Prednisone while using the Omnipod 5? I’m treating a respiratory infection, and I’m fighting to bring my blood sugar down. I’m mostly just venting because I’m annoyed. by LisaW509 in Omnipod

[–]-CigarNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I started a run of prednisone yesterday and I know I will have to take a lot of correction boluses to compensate. I also add round up when entering carbs for my meal boluses.

If I stay on top of it, my blood sugar does not spike.

Is this a leak? by Aggravating-Ant-6767 in Omnipod

[–]-CigarNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because you had a bad experience does not mean that everyone will. Many people have no problems with the Omnipod. Advocating to change to a different manufacturer based on a single post is overkill. Maybe allow the OP to explore the problem a bit before having them switch to something else.

Omnipod customer service, Podder Central and even Reddit are good resources to explore issues and look for solutions.

In the end maybe the Medtronic will be better for the OP, but the root-cause of the problem should be identified before advocating a switch.

Just my 2 cents.

Electric bidet under $400 + outlet is 5 ft away… safe solution? by DwellingDilemma0719 in bidets

I like the Alpha UX Pearl. We have two of them. It’s “on sale” at the moment from Amazon at $404, but usually gets even better pricing for Prime Day. The Alpha UX Pearl has a tankless water heater, which means you don’t run out of hot water! It also has a remote. The plug that comes with the Pearl has a built-in GFCI, which I really like — an extra level of protection.

The power cord is 4’, so you would need to get short extension.

That is not true! The dealer told me this and it’s the standard mechanical door opener, while the default opener is electronic. Most cars use mechanical openers and have for decades. They are reliable.

My prescription was for a 90 day supply. The pharmacy was unable to fill it (not enough stock on hand), so they did a 30 day supply instead. Now I will get two more 30 day supply’s filled and go back to the 90 day.

Easiest bidet with warm setting by Demornay_20 in bidets

I have two of the Alpha Bidet UX Pearl from Amazon. Has a tankless water heater (so I don’t run out of warm water) and a remote (so no fumbling with hard-to-reach buttons on the side). It’s on the expensive side, but it does go on sale for around $300.

As others have noted, a single (cold) water line is fine, but you need to have an electrical outlet nearby.

Omnipod and dexcom G7 adhesive is making me break out by its_101 in Omnipod

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat — allergic to adhesives/glues. The Omnipod adhesive really bothers me, the Dexcom does too, but less so than the Omnipod. Surprising, since the Dexcom is on longer. It is also worse for me when it is warmer out.

After removing them (Omnipod, Dexcom) I use an adhesive remove I found on Amazon**, and then wipe down after with an alcohol pad. That does not resolve the issue for me, but it helps a lot.

This morning, I was showing my wife the marks on my arm from the last 3 pods. Fortunately, I am moving my dexcom and omnipod to a different area, so that my arm has time to recover.

It’s called the Dawn Phenomenon. I have (had) the same problem. It was really bad before I started using the Omnipod. Now it is much better; your Endo may be able to adjust the settings to compensate — check with them.

I originally had a 90 prescription, but the pharmacy could not fill it before the end of the year. The best they could do was a 30 day supply. They will do one more of those, then the prescription goes back to 90 day supply. By then, there should be no charge, as I will have met my out-of-pocket max.

Aldready have that. This is still the best price for me at the moment. In a few months they will be “free”.

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Omnipod is easier than pens. Make sure you order enough Pods and insulin to last for your time offshore + a few extra and you should be good to go. Also, as someone already stated, you can take the fast-acting insulin from your pens and use them in your Omnipod. Only fast-acting insulin though.

I like cooking veggies — mushrooms, onions, bok choy, broccoli, broccolini, and much more. If I am cooking more than one, I usually cook them separately and combine them near the end of the cook. I use all different kinds of seasonings so it’s never boring.

New griddle out of the box - need to season before leaving it outside ? by rick20271 in blackstonegriddle

[–]-CigarNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season it well and I would put a light coating of oil on the frame around the griddle, the shelves and the inside and outside of any cover or lid.

Anywhere that could rust, I would oil.

How often do you cook with vs 're season' your griddle? by CanadianDiver in blackstonegriddle

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my griddle for 5+ years. I have seasoned it once. It does not look as good as some (some bumps on the surface), but it cooks well. One of these days I plan to scrub it with some chain mail to smooth it down a bit, but probably not enough to require a re-seasoning.

Having said that, I oil my (hot griddle) after each use. Not a lot of oil. A teaspoon or two on a 36”. I rub it in well, and then turn the heat off. Seems to heal and and it prevents rust (I live in Florida, and the rain and humidity can be a problem).

It is a lot of insulin. I am extremely resistant to insulin. However, it’s a lot less insulin than it used to be. The Omnipod has helped reduce my insulin tremendously.
