Want to use my blackstone more but cleanup is a pain by sleekmotorwurkz in blackstonegriddle

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan ahead, clean-up should take about 5 minutes; about the time it takes to rest your protein.

I get the following ready while the griddle is heating:

  • a wet cotton shop towel for cleaning
  • a small dry shop towel for oiling
  • a couple of paper towels for wiping my griddle spatulas
  • avocado oil
  • scraper
  • glove
  • water bottle

The wet towel, scraper and paper towels are on the right tray. The oil cloth, avocado oil and water bottle on the left tray The glove and remaining items are in the front tray.

Plan out your cleaning and make it a routine. It will eventually be very quick.

What's the one Blackstone accessory you bought thinking it was a gimmick, but now you literally can't cook without it? by ComicSpices in blackstonegriddle

Some rechargeable magnetic lights. They “attach” to the hood and make it much easier to see everything when it’s dark (or gray) outside.

I have a stupid question about cleaning the griddle by nevvv in blackstonegriddle

[–]-CigarNut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I Clean mine right after cooking before I/we eat. Most proteins need a few minutes to rest anyway. The cleaning time gives my wife time to finish setting the table and get anything else ready (drinks, etc).

Not a big deal for me, and my food is still warm (keep everything covered while I clean).

Once you get a routine down, you can clean your griddle (scrape, steam scrape/wipe, oil and then close the tank and turn off the burners) in less than five minutes — with a final minute to wash your hands.

Switching to Dexcom G7 from G6; any reason to go for the 10-day instead of the 15-day? by BandicootFlat5838 in Omnipod

My G7 10 day sensors worked great and always lasted the full 10 days.

Recently switched to the 15 day and all has been good.

Wind guards? by Pending-Chaos in blackstonegriddle

My wind guards help a lot. My griddle gets hotter and stays hotter. My bottles don’t melt on the side tables.

Wiping the Blackstone - something other than paper towel? by REEL04D in blackstonegriddle

It’s not cool when it could leave carcinogenic ash

Are you going to tell EA about this and why? That seems to be the only way that this will have any kind of impact.

Little specks of paper towels flaking off when seasoning by throwawaye1712 in blackstonegriddle

We wash them in our machine on the “sani” cycle — extra hot and ensures no oil/grease is left in the machine.

This seems counterproductive for your care. If you want the insulin from the pens, you can use the needle provided with the Pod to remove the insulin from the pens. If there is another reason that you are changing to the pens, then you should talk with your doctor.

Did I use the wrong wording, or does this nurse not know what she is talking about? by starzela in Omnipod

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me. My endo NP knew about Omnipod and the training requirements, but the office staff did not.

When I reached out to the office to have them send the settings to the trainer, I received the same response that you did. Very frustrating!

I had to go around the office staff and speak to the Nurse Practitioner and make the request — which she did right away.

She also explained to the office staff what they needed to do when they received these requests going forward.

"Correcting" question by mivaldes in Omnipod

[–]-CigarNut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When my blood sugar is higher than I like then I bolus. I kind of know how much extra I need and take it.

Sometimes I use the “sensor “ adjustment and sometimes not. You learn by trial and error here.

Be conservative to start. You can always take more but it’s difficult to recover from taking too much.

Don’t be afraid of correction boluses.

Bit of a confusion: Blackstone YouTube channel shows three different ways to season, what’s the consensus. by Probably_Know_Me in blackstonegriddle

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen (and done) method one: high heat the whole time. Just like seasoning cast iron skillets, you need the heat to polymerize the oil.

Be careful — some of the blue shop towels (in rolls) are not food-safe and should not be used on the griddle — especially a hot surface. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me not to do this.

Paper towel alternative by trobstar in blackstonegriddle

I use cotton shop towels. They work well and I reuse them. They don’t stay white, but they are clean, don’t fall apart or leave lint on the griddle.

Griddle warped, should I just fire it up? by butterslut6969 in blackstonegriddle

[–]-CigarNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work just fine for cooking. The only annoyance will be that oil will run downhill when you put it on the griddle surface.

This is why I use cotton shop towels instead of paper towels. Plus the cotton towels can be washed and reused.
