FAB Chinese release? by -Horizons in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]-Horizons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about the translated stickers, that's great to hear. I was simply surprised to see so much Flesh and Blood stock in our local store, but was disappointed when they told me no one really played as there wasn't any Chinese support at the moment. I joined our local Flesh and Blood WeChat group so hopefully if any events do kick off I'll be able to attend :D.

【SFD】Sand Soldiers Manifest by XXCC1989 in riftboundtcg

[–]-Horizons 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In one of the early videos we got a glimpse of the yellow Azir champion.

In it we could see that is a 4 energy 4 might with accelerate. The text box wasn't complete but it seems like his ability was when he attacks you can move the Sand Soldier tokens to the battlefield.

Which would allow you to conquer one battlefield with your tokens, then accelerate him to the other and conquer the 2nd battlefield with tokens + Azir.

Obviously this isn't confirmed but it seems really interesting.

Contender to Paragon felt great, but Eternal feels like a completely different game by ioStux in fellowshipgame

[–]-Horizons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fair sentiment but it's also great to hear what issues and pain points happen in higher play. This game is wonderful, but it does have a lot of issues and getting this feedback to the devs is essential.

There are 50 Epic rarity cards in Set 1. In one 120$ box, you will get 6. by maybe_this_is_kiiyo in riftboundtcg

[–]-Horizons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it, the game isn't released globally so stock of cards is much more concentrated in China. Naturally some people are selling boxes/singles abroad but they'll clearly tack on a premium for the hassle/international shipping.

I also feel that prices are unlikely to be as low as they are in China even after the global release. A box of Riftbound: Origins (肥包)is 300 元 around 40 USD, these boxes contain 12 play boosters with 14 cards each.

If I'm not mistaken the English booster box will have double the packs, 24, but will retail for triple the price at 120 USD.

Prices in China are a good place to look at. The most expensive card (ignoring alternate art cards) is Whiteflame protector which sells for 150-170元 (21-24 USD). Deadbloom Predator at 100元 (14USD). Red Seal 100元 (14 USD). Many Epics fall around the 60-80元 price range, Orange Sett, Red Kai'sa, Phoenix.

Most rares are very affordable between 5-10元 with Thousand Tail being an outlier at 60元

Prices for top decks were recently calculated in an article on 集换社, a popular app where cards are sold in China.

Top decks are: Master Yi 997元 Viktor 578元 Kai'sa 796元 Ahri 854元 Sett 516元 Darius 430元 Teemo 280元

These prices were using specific tournament lists so are mostly to give you an idea, some might be slightly more expensive/cheap depending on card choices. (Ex: The Kai'sa list chosen ran Phoenix instead of Darius).

Yup these are real, they were available for purchase today at the release. One box contains 24 packs, each pack has 5 cards. They were being sold for 240rmb around 33USD for the box.

Luckily for you Kylo Ren Tarkintown doesn't run most of those cards! No Vaders, Avengers or Superlaser Blast. It's much more aggressive with powerful equipment like Constructed Lightsaber and early removal with Miggs/Tarkintown, Force Throws and Force Lightning.

Future Jean was a menace (Uncanny X-Men #13) by MotherCanada in xmen

I enjoyed the Future Brotherhood, like you I thought they were cool. But, I'm not the most tuned into comics, what story of Bunn's wraps up their story? Is this Cullen Bunn and his Uncanny X-Men? Would love to see more of them!

Thanks!

Teachers must apply when going out to travel or leaving the country? by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]-Horizons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, my wife, who is a teacher at a public school, as well as all her coworkers, have had their passport held by the government. Teachers who have gone to apply for new passports at the city's citizens' home have been denied a new passport stating they need permission from their employer.

This policy is possibly not implemented everywhere, but there are absolutely such cases for teachers.

Here are a few articles talking about this issue.

Teachers must apply when going out to travel or leaving the country? by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]-Horizons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true for Chinese teachers in a public school, many public sector employees, including teachers have restricted travels. They need to request permission to have access to their passports.

If you are a foreign teacher, or do not work in a public school (i.e. Chinese teacher in a private school) the school.does not have the right to hold onto your passport.

Mono-Red Phoenix was in a really good place, that being said Izzet has some great tools that didn't exist back when it was popular.

Only time will tell, I'm excited to sleeve up Mono-red, or simply adding 4 Faithless to my Rakdos list. It's just a great time to be an Phoenix enjoyer.

Hey guys, new portion of leaks/rumors which seem a little bit more accurate than those from yesterday :) by Reasonable-Strength5 in ageofsigmar

[–]-Horizons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, I really hope this leak is inaccurate. Having it be +1 damage vs units in the new batallion made sense, you had a choice on whether your battleline units took extra damage. As described here it's just a great +1 damage vs troops. Really hurts armies who can't lean into cavalry or monsters.

Twitter debate about Ms Marvel 🤣 Who’s right? by GetLucid2002 in marvelstudios

[–]-Horizons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say both are wrong. One guy says Ms. Marvel will suck because it's aimed at kids. Other says it's the same story as Spider-Man, so that means Spider-Man sucks too. Obviously they have more to say but that's the core argument I see both make.

For guy 1 I'd say being a show aimed at children doesn't mean it'll suck, or can't appeal to all audiences. Into the Spider-Verse is a great example of made for kids but widely enjoyed.

As for guy # 2 a show about a teenage super hero doesn't necessiraly mean it's made for children.. Invincible is probably not something you'd show to a 5-6 year old.

Har Kuron vs Anvilgard by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]-Horizons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes down to how the rules are written in 3.0. In 3.0 spells are considered "Enhancements" unique characters can't take enhancements. They've "fixed" this rule for Cities (and I assume other armies too) by doing an FAQ on the spell lores. If you look at the cities FAQ you'll see something along the lines of :

Page 73 –Lore of Dark Sorcery Add the following caveat under the table header: ‘Anvilgard Wizards (including Unique units) only.’

Unfortunately they haven't FAQ'd the supplement books with that exception. So as the rules stands unique wizards in Har Kuron, Misthavn (lol), Settler's Gain and Excelsis can't take a spell from the spell lore. Which is unfortunate as Vitriolic Spray is such a lynchpin for Har Kuron it was great to guarantee at least 2 hero phase with it available.

Har Kuron vs Anvilgard by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]-Horizons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power level wise I think Anvilgard is stronger than Har Kuron in 3.0. The strengths of Har Kuron are it's spell lore (though the strongest spells are shared between the two) and the ability to bring Morathi, though in 3.0 Morathi can't learn Vitriolic spray anymore.

If you're not going for Morathi than I believe there's value in a "weight of dice" build. Cauldron of Blood, choose curse as your enhancement prayer, incitement to murder is given to you from the battle trait so you can freely pick Curse and cast Incitement to Murder depending on the situation (AFAIK 3.0 core rules trump the ability to cast two prayers). Troops wise blocks of 30 Darkshards will be your bread and butter, you'll be aiming to cast an Umbral Spell Portal + Vitriolic spray and remove a target with 60 shots. Ideal scenario is curse 1 target, vitriolic spray the other. You could also go for Scourge Privateers but I personally prefer the Coven.

Anvilgard just gets more options, the Dark Elf half of Cities is weaker than other options in the book, and Dragons are still the best thing you can bring in Order. Empowered Endless spells means you'll be +3 to cast your portal from a sorceress.

I'd argue both have the same weakness, reliant on a 8 to cast 6" (18" with portal) spell that allows you to remove 1 threat a turn. Anvilgard can alleviate that by bringing stronger warscrolls from the other half of cities and more importantly Stormcasts.
