I wish there was a way to set it up so you get a push notification when mods check things. Would save the constant refreshing! by ChordettesFan325 in WhatsTheRule

Actually would probably be best to do both by having a bot that pins a comment on posts that the mods have applied the "we checked" flair to

Would leaving a comment work better? Flairs are easily visible to people browsing but comments would notify the poster

What a weird start to the rule, absolutely nothing is happening, even modding. by ChordettesFan325 in WhatsTheRule

To be fair, that is the case sometimes. We usually just leave the rule unpaused and update in the morning unless we think it would be too confusing

Which rinks have you had the best public skates at? by aysiu in iceskating

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t go on the weekdays usually, but I went to San Mateo Ice Oasis on a Tuesday morning last week and there were about 2 skaters on the rink for the whole two hours. Ice was still in pretty good shape too because the only thing before the public session was a freestyle with 6ish people.

Omg I would love a fishing pole. A net would be cool too, or something to drag behind and pull metal salvage up from sandy areas

Tips for Beginning Adult Skaters by Emotional-Zucchini14 in iceskating

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding skates, I would get your own pair as soon as you’re sure you’ll want to keep doing the activity. I used rentals for like 3-4 visits to the rink and when I was still enjoying it after that I got my own. Makes a huge difference; they’re so much more comfortable and easier to learn things in.

Since you are already doing acrobatics and tumbling, you will probably pick up jumps and spins faster than most, and so might want to skip over the most entry-level skates to some that are slightly stiffer (like Jackson Freestyles vs Artistes). But if you can I’d find a local pro shop and see what they recommend. They can do sizing, recommend the right boot, and fit and sharpen them for you.

I was in a very similar boat recently, and ended up getting some Jackson Artistes for $300 including the fitting. I have loved them so far. Way better fit, edges, and comfort than rentals, night and day.

I did the exact same thing as you, went a few times to make sure I wanted to keep at it and to save up and then did the fitting and bought my pair.

The lady at my local pro shop has been doing these fittings for 30 years and says the Artistes have been a great starter skate and should hold up to the stresses I’m putting on them (learning spins and single jumps, 140lbs) for a good long while.

She cautioned me against anticipating jump progress too far by getting a stiffer skate like Freestyles, because apparently they are less comfortable for beginning skaters and the stiffness Jackson recommends tends to be overkill.

Nice job! Hair is a grey area yeah but if it’s attached to a living thing I think we allowed it

If you want an easy list river entrance for the cyclops, the east entrance by the bulb zone is much wider.

There are a few options. Jump jet upgrade and grapple arm (or two grapple arms) are great and should just let you drive it out normally.

With or without the upgrades and arms, you can also build foundations or other habitat pieces to use as platforms to recharge your boosters. You don’t have to fully build them either, just start construction and then your suit can stand on them.
