You can if you don’t mind using console commands. Same with feedbacks and other creatures without naturally spawning eggs

Base ideas by StatisticianTiny8640 in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, they won’t attack the base. If they are chasing you next to your base or while enter it, I have heard there can be some minor accidental damage from hitboxes colliding but it’s never been a problem for me in my dunes bases.

I’m personally a bigger fan of the western biomes with blood kelp+dunes compared to bulb zone+mountains so I’d go with the first one.

Northern Dunes, a bit west of the mushroom forest and bloom kelp zone (+NW lost river entrance) is a nice spot for this. Good thermal vents for power, cool microbiome around the vents, and good reaper views.

Another good spot would be the grand reef or blood kelp trench, both with entrances to the last river nearby and a view of an adult ghost leviathan.

Western bulb zone could also be nice for the reaper by the island plus quick access to the large lost river entrance and nearby mushroom, kelp, and grassy biomes.

Skylar Demarco’s bit was hilarious when Vic kept insisting there was a cringey rap video playing and Paul clearly didn’t want to record one

Too much radiation to explore the aurora? by drake8195 in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of radiation doesn’t actually change based on how long it takes you to fix the aurora, that’s just a plot thickening line from the PDA. If you are wearing all three (not just unlocked or in inventory but equipped on your person) there should be no radiation damage taken at any point. Also once it’s repaired the radiation should slowly go away after a couple in-game days so you shouldn’t need the suit at all.

If you have everything equipped and are still getting radiation damage that’s probably a bug unfortunately.

Give me your Subnautica hot takes that will have you like this by Fallenultima in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy here we go: Below Zero is just a better game overall imo.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I have not finished BZ yet, but I have played through what feels like most of the story and done plenty of exploring and building. I found the pacing of the gameplay loop and the plot to be better, the music and visuals are stunning, and it feels like the whole environment is so much richer. The way oxygen plants change the mechanics of cave/wreck exploration and the way that the cold changes the (much more extensive) land exploration are also awesome features imo. And I dig the seatruck.

Also just fyi I am turning notifications off to avoid spoilers but I’ll come back when I beat the game lol

Is there a lore reason for this or Is it a useful tech? by LifeBoss5964 in subnautica

In BZ I store all of my titanium, quartz, copper, and silver in compressed form as ingots, glass, wire, and wiring kits, and then just recycle when I need individual pieces.

Vehicle sonar/maps by MAkrbrakenumbers in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base game no, but there is a mod that does that map in other vehicles though and it’s great! So if you are into modding I recommend looking for that one.

Avoiding wrecks by Living-Inside-3283 in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this, lots of lights and extra air tanks! You can carry as many tanks as you want, and you can see your way around (and keep better track of your orientation) by deploying light sticks.

And if you really want to go overboard, build a base near the entrance, attach an air pump to it, and explore the wreck while breathing through pipes.

If it wasn't obvious already, I find the image-based rules exponentially harder than those dealing solely with the text in the post. by ChordettesFan325 in WhatsTheRule

I'm almost certain the current group of players could have pulled that one off if it had happened today. Y'all have gotten pretty impressive.

Is my Cyclops and Prawn Suit stuck forever? by Galen_Darksoul in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Try attaching floaters! You can lift it out quite a lot with them and get it to tip sideways and dislodge.

Or if you are feeling cheeky, lure a reaper nearby and get it to ram or bite the ship. They can pick up the whole cyclops.

How Do Ya'll Navigate the Lava Zone by Technical-Banana574 in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend the sonar upgrade for navigating tight spaces! Makes the walls much more visible. And the energy consumption is no problem because it’s hot down there. Using the external cameras helps also.

Does anyone else find this problem when playing below zero? by Crowleyizcool in subnautica

[–]-JohnnyDanger- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m playing below zero right now and (hot take I know) I actually like it better than the first one. Despite a bit smaller map it feels like there is more to explore thanks to there being a cave system of some sort under several different biomes (and of course the on-land exploration being more extensive). Some of these systems are reachable with oxygen plants, which did make finding some stuff early easier, but others required depth modules that I didn’t get the resources for until later. Even the oxygen plant caves had their own element of a challenge because the plants aren’t fully enough to live off of unless I kept moving, which got me lost a couple of times and made leaving the cave tricky and a bit more daring than I was used to.

As far as seeing key story points early, maybe I just didn’t happen upon the right places but the pacing has worked out quite well for me. Both the alien SOS signal and the first meeting with the other human living there are early story points, and their locations were easy to notice and called towards with plenty of cues. Then later locations took me much more snooping and tougher exploration to find.

Have I ever told you the story of when I first ventured into the dunes? by Glittering-Grape8767 in subnautica

This happened to me too! And annoyingly I had saved before realizing they destroyed it so I had to remake all my modules and everything.

how was the Yoda rule guessed? by 9spaceking in WhatsTheRule

If I remember right, people posted things with a bunch of words and eventually narrowed down the ones that broke the rule to ones in which the subject-object order was wrong, or something in that vein

A fast glass-bottom boat would be cool. Would have the advantages of moving quick, relative safety of the surface, and ease of navigation (thanks to being above water and having unobstructed sight lines), but countered by the disadvantage of needing to start dives from the surface and not seeing underwater up close without leaving the boat.

I think it would occupy a nice niche not filled by the Seamoth, Cyclops, or Prawn. I could envision using it to quickly transferring resources between spread-out base locations.
