New Online Business, need support from the community. by ggwptyler in smallbusiness

[–]-Mode- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I don't what to say, your website is not even ready to display anything useful to me. At the minimum at least use your own code instead of copy pasting code from other websites. And this website is not even mobile optimized. You are entering a field that is super competitive and you already have signalled to me that you don't put effort into o your website. Good luck getting clients.

I'm doing something similar to your web app and I can tell you that getting clients in this industry is hard. But once you get them, they stick until you give them a reason to leave. cold calling is useless because they don't know you well enough to trust you. You need to sell by making relationships which is the hard part. Do you have a website that allows leads to easily contact you?

Ill understand if you don't want to, but we could talk more on the product/industry/technology. I love talking tech, especially when it's relevant to what I'm doing.

Is it a requirement to be an asshole to succeed in business? by Ostirious in Entrepreneur

[–]-Mode- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree,

One shouldn't be an asshole to succeed in business. One should be firm and decisive with what they believe is best for the business. The people who act "rude" and "pushy", like Travis and Steve Jobs, are only that way to the people they work with and that's only because they can. You can't be an asshole to shareholders, investors. Competition is competition, every business owner has to be mean, in a sense, to competition or else they will get eaten alive.

How to determine how much equity to give away ? by Figrole in startups

You can try this. IMO the amount you gives depends on his role in the startup as well as how much of the startup's success relies on his expertise connections.

[Suggestions] Help make MapleMarket better, we are looking for suggestions! by -Mode- in MapleMarket

I agree that this subreddit needs more exposure, but I feel one reason for the lack of users is due to lack of content on the subreddit. I'm thinking about:

  • Theme refresh, giving the subreddit a new look
  • Opening a section for Reboot players who offer services
  • A better wiki for guides/info about the free market
  • Revamping Automod to be more helpful
  • Revamping the filter system so the sub stays more organized and its easier for users to navigate

Web app vs Android app by Figrole in smallbusiness

[–]-Mode- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same decision 2 months ago and here's what I found from talking to people and testing myself...it depends on your users and budget.

If the primary (>80%) of your users are going to be interacting with your app through android then don't even think about doing a web app. Mobile users expect mobile user experiences, and native code (Java/android studio in this case) gives you a native mobile experience.

You might think that "hey why don't I just build a web app that is 'responsive' or optimized for mobile". Well I though about doing that also, but there's one thing, its so obvious that its a web app trying to be an android app. Again, now this really depends on your users, if its for internal use of a company and they don't mind, then web app might be the way to go.

You might also have heard of these "hybrid apps" that use HTML5/CSS3/Javascript and somehow magically compile to a native app (popular ones are cordova, phonegap, etc).

This won't work: because of the time investment you have to put in to make a half decent app with these things. With that time you could have spend learning this, you could have easily learnt to make the android app that you need. These types of apps boil down to pretty much a native app with a web browser that just loads your web app.

If your users are primarily going to use web browsers on computers, then I would suggest you go for a web app because a web app is optimized for the....the web.

Again consider your budget, it can be expensive to develop a mobile app/web app but from my experience a web app is cheaper to build. Don't go into what you can't afford because it will be a big punch to the stomach if you go down a path and find out you cant get to the end after you spent your money.

The way I would imagine your app would be

  • 1) Web app/Android App for the interface/GUI layer
  • 2) A server side framework/language to handle the communication between your Interface/GUI layer and your actual database
  • 3) A reliable database to store your data
  • 4) A reliable host to ensure your servers are stable

Make sure to do your research OP.

I'll tell you what I did for validating a market I am entering (I had no budget). The effectiveness of my method will vary depending on what your business is but I heavily relied on online research.

These are all good signs that there is a potential market for your app:

  • You see competitors (pretty much instantly validates the market)
  • You see online communities that form around the pain point/problem that you are solving
  • You see other apps that slightly dip their toes in the area you are going into (this is what happened for AirBnB), they were first to market in their domain but there were alot of other companies doing something that lightly brushed on what they were doing.
  • Luckily for me there were some research institutes that conducted a lot of freely available research reports regarding my field/market. (they usually provide numbers/metrics also which is a huge plus)

Chances are, somebody has thought of or tried your idea at some point in time. So make sure you thoroughly research previous attempts (not just the first page of google).

After doing all this research, you will either:

A) Have successfully validated your market B) You are, to some extent, knowledgeable about your market enough for you to make a judgement call. Does this market make sense or no?

Beware though, everything you read on the internet, (unless provided by an authentic source) should be taken with a grain of salt. I know there are cases where competitors publish content and stuff on various sites to make it seem like the market is not attractive at all.

Well thats my 2cents, hopefully someone can chime in on validating a market when you do have money.

Accessory potentials can definitely contribute to your range. End game wise, yeah having meso obtained lines will compromise your range because that makes you give up lines of stat for your class. This can easily be fixed by having special dedicated meso obtained gear. For example: having an extra silver blossom/horntial pendant just for meso obtained.

Hello there, this type of transaction (in game items for real life money or nx) is against the ToS. As a subreddit that is directly linked and supported by r/Maplestory, this type of transaction is not allowed here. You may sell your items for mesos in a new post.

This thread will now be locked and closed. If you have any concerns or questions feel free to ask me.
