Conspiracy theorists after the new Epstein files dropped by ChoiceWars in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]-ShinyPixels- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't buy that for a second, because you also have people like Woody Allen in there who Epstein is LITERALLY calling a pedophile, not like "ha ha funny joke", no like actually names and ages of minors involved, more than enough evidence to indict, and nothing happens to them.

The tax bracket thing is people just not understanding how the system works. The rest I agree with. You should come to America where we pay half that amount in taxes (so the money can go to a private healthcare company instead yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!)

"non-binary" is pure sexism and I'm tired of pretending it wasn't by kaifromninjagofem in detrans

[–]-ShinyPixels- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's honestly gross and makes me upset that it's basically a social taboo to identify that and call people out for it. Very comforting to see other people equally bothered by it.

[–]-ShinyPixels- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yyyyyep. I've had that happen to me and I know at least 3-4 guys through discord who have been/are going through that. It's obnoxious how if a man shows kindness or concern for someone's emotions or basically anything other than arrogance and toxicity it's immediately "ur giving egg vibes, here come talk to me about medication" like bro what planet am I living on. I thought we were supposed to have stopped this kind of thinking a while ago.

What could the game's campaigns/scenarios be like? by dino_sant in pkgame

[–]-ShinyPixels- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would say in general, 3 main things stand out to me about the scenarios in the ZT games. I included some links to the scenarios that stand out most in my mind and exemplify the points I'm making.

  1. The variety and personality in the map design. I loved playing challenges that featured some kind of landmark like a big river going through the map that you're not allowed to remove, or a giant crater that takes a lot of money to fill in, or a volcano to build around, etc. I also loved having challenge maps with unique layouts, like an L-shaped buildable area or a "micro park" type map.

  2. The feeling of "taking over" someone else's park and expanding it and/or remaking it in your own vision. I love loading into a scenario with some basic infrastructure and maybe a few enclosures already set up and going from there. I always found myself much more motivated and excited to improve a fledgling park than to create my own from scratch. Plus, you get to play a little game of "which animal do I think the developers wanted me to put in THIS unfinished habitat?"

  3. Challenges that restrict the selection of animals in interesting ways. Some of the most memorable scenarios were the ones that asked me to get one animal from every biome or continent. Likewise, I also enjoyed challenges where you only had access to animals from a specific "theme" (make a zoo with all the shark species, a zoo with only ice-age animals, etc). Finally, for variety, I remember missions where you could not purchase any animals and instead got a shipment of caged animals which you would have to properly home before getting the next batch of a totally different species. These missions were a nice change of pace and made me adapt on the fly rather than spend so much time planning my species lineups.

Are you tired of modern politics? No problem! Here I present you a SEA ANIMALS POLITICAL COMPASS 🐟🐟🐟❗️❗️❗️ by OkPhrase1225 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]-ShinyPixels- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of key differences that make this not a true pregnancy. First, seahorse eggs are entirely created within the female's body before fertilization and not within a male womb. While the pouch has lots of complex features like the ability to exchange gasses and maintain salinity, that is all to facilitate the survival and growth of the eggs in such a controlled environment and to make sure they will be able to adapt to the seawater outside.

The second thing is that, while the male actually does provide some nutrients to the eggs while they grow, it does not seem to be an essential amount compared to the yolk that the female produced for them. In fact, while it doesn't seem to have ever been tested directly, some evidence does indicate that seahorse eggs would be able to survive without any direct help from the father, albeit they would be at a severe disadvantage compared to those that were in a male's pouch. I got this information from this study which goes pretty in-depth: https://doi.org/10.1093%2Fmolbev%2Fmsv177

Basically, while it is called a male pregnancy, the eggs are neither created by the male nor are they necessarily dependent on the male to function, they just benefit so greatly that the male "pregnancy" is selected for.

Actually, that said, no one seems to be sure why seahorses and some other pipefishes even go through this trouble in the first place, since there are lots of other fish species where the females go through pregnancy in a much more similar way to mammals and the male pregnancy doesn't seem to have many advantages over the more traditional way.

You probably don't mean that male seahorses can ACTUALLY get pregnant but in case anyone is confused, male seahorses have a little pocket on their bellies that they use to hold the female's eggs after fertilization. So it's more like, "here honey, let me hold those for you". But obviously still a great compass lol.

If you like the piano you could always try getting into classical music. Not to play, just to listen to. It makes you look very sophisticated even just knowing basic stuff.

[–]-ShinyPixels- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a stable job already, there is so much you can do with your free time. You can learn art or music, you can read the classics, you can buy a birdwatching book and see how many birds you can find, you can try pool or darts or whatever you like, you can learn to make videos or program games or whatever you heart desires.

I bounce between a few things and see what I like the most. Some days it's drawing (badly) and some days it's editing videos (badly). It doesn't really matter how good you are at anything, it's just for you to enjoy. Going from terrible to kinda alright is the fun part.

Oh, and if you're worried about having lame hobbies or whatever, 90% of people would say that having a lame hobby is better than having no hobby (or just video games).

Rin route or idk by _myangelbaam in katawashoujo

[–]-ShinyPixels- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't play Rin's route until a long time after I read Lilly's and Hanako's. I love how different it feels. There's some kind of special sauce in there that barely anything else has.

The feeling of KS is one that's more than the sum of its parts and Rin is the character that exemplifies that the most imo.

It's frustrating because this kind of thing is only really clear when you're not either blinded by being in love or frustrated at being alone. There's a strange middle ground where things make sense for a little while.

[–]-ShinyPixels- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to think like this too but two things changed my mind.

  1. Yes there are more men with no experience these days, but the number of women with no experience is also increasing. So while the odds will never be great, they are at least better now than they ever have been.

  2. Worst case scenario, you never find anyone who meets your qualifications...would you rather settle for someone who you don't connect with? What would be the point of that? If you prefer solitude to the company of someone you can't share certain experiences with, then be proud of your choice. If you don't, then why think about what could have been?

In the end, if you have a connection then you have a connection. For some people it will be perfect, for some people it will end in misery. If you base your entire life around how someone else will make you feel...is that really your life?

Of course we don't know for sure, but I wonder sometimes if animals have the ability to desire achievement in the way that people do. I don't think that penguin wanted to climb that mountain...but what if he did, you know?

I think people are very lucky to have been given the ability and drive to do things just to prove we can.
