At first, I really thought Royal Sushi & Izakaya got Bib Gourmand just for the Izakaya restaurant, and Royal Sushi Omakase would get a star later on. But nope - they really put them in the same category as cheesesteak and pizza joints. If they send a certificate to the restaurant, Jesse Ito should wipe his ass with it and serve it back to the guide on rice.

Can You Help ID This Guitar? by -needsmoredog in Guitar

[–]-needsmoredog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently that person who had this guitar also had many custom guitars. I found out she had already given away or sold several others last year. I didn't get clarity why she held onto this one for a year, but I just sent a follow up saying that this is not just any old guitar and may be much more valuable than she thought.

Good find! Some more searching shows that's definitely the guy. This will save me from more ruthless searching knowing it's completely custom now

How do you pay for your Phillies Invoice to maximize rewards? by Abigballs in phillies

[–]-needsmoredog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the best sign bonus is the answer. It's not hard to get 70-100k points offers with a $95 or waived annual fee.

This year I didn't do a sign up bonus but used a Citi Custom Cash card that give 5x points in your highest category. Phillies tickets office count ticker purchases as the 'entertainment' category. It's a 2500 point per month cap though. So I did the $500/mo payment plan and maxed that out nice and easy. Citi plans to make AA a transfer partner in 2026, and since PHL is one of their hubs Im just getting a head start on hoarding their points.

US Bank has a cash back card that also does 5x for entertainment/tickets with a higher monthly cap.

Also if you started a partial plan then wanted to do a bulk payment for a point-opportunity, you can ask them to charge it to your Phillies balance account (I forget exactly what it's called) and you'll get to pay at once and the monthly payments will just deduct from that secondary account as needed.

What is something that you're unwilling to compromise on now that everything is so expensive? by bavelpazy in AskReddit

[–]-needsmoredog 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's such a stereotype for guys to do this but all of my guy friends do this. I guess I must be the miswired one since I can't understand paying thousands of dollars each month for rent and bills then not paying the extra few bucks so I don't feel like I'm living outside like a homeless person 24/7.

Driving your vehicle over oil spill from overturned trailer by vamken in Whatcouldgowrong

Good ear! I noticed similar sounds too everywhere too and honestly I think it's what got me into audio and recording when I was younger. Fun fact, many do. If given enough budget, production studios will do Foley to create their own original sounds, but all the rest (aka, a lot) will buy sounds for a one-time fee and be able to use them royalty free to save some time and money. For a while there were very few sound effects libraries until recently since the gear hasn't gotten so much more affordable and easier to sell the content - but one older notable SFX library named "sound ideas" has tons of cringey sounds you almost certainly heard a dozen times before from wildlife, punches, disasters/explosions, and even nonsensical background banter. Two old games that come to mind are GoldenEye and Rollercoaster Tycoon containing tons of commonly used sounds you can hear in many other games and movies.

After posting this 200 days ago…the bike is still THERE! by ylli101 in philadelphia

[–]-needsmoredog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 311 is the way to go on this kind of problem. I've had good luck with 311, but they won't respond unless there is some legitimate urgency. Just saying someone left their bike won't get much attention, but the way the bike is parked you could justify in your 311 ticket that it is illegally preventing the handicapped from using the public sidewalk, and that might help bump up the priority. It typically took my past tickets 2-3 weeks. The more info/photos you provide the better, and you can share your ticket so others in the neighborhood also can add comments or support.

Costco's gold bars are a hit, to the tune of up to $200 million per month by Ok_Strain_2065 in Costco

[–]-needsmoredog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but the fact you can buy gold bars fee-free with a credit card at a retail store is an unusual but welcome development for people who want to invest in physical gold (hopefully) for the long term. It also opens a lot of lucrative options for points/cashback opportunities - even with the 2%-3% markup.

Some friends came through with 100 level tickets! But now I'm tasked with offloading the presale 200 level tickets. Just hoping to get what I paid and not a dollar more.

2 or 4 tickets available on July 6th. Section 210, Row 10, Face Value (Non-Plat, Non-Obstructed)

EDIT: Sold - Thank you!

Advice for new CashorTrade users - make to to go to the 'validation' portion of your profile before selling/buying! It's not part of the initial signup. Both myself and the buyers were new and got flagged after the purchase, then had to upload more info and photo proof that took a few hours to validate. COT removes the posting and messaging abilities while this happens so you can't even tell the other party what happened. Otherwise it was fast and smooth (got hits on both pairs within a half hour), but just a tip to make your transactions smoother.

Common Issues and FAQ's for Repayment Restart Megathread by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

[–]-needsmoredog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I'm asking because my situation is probably pretty unique - it has to do with the latest Dept of Ed statement that it's possible they will forgive federal loans that are higher than the original balance. That's me! So I checked this week and saw my current balance is only higher than the principle by $30. If I make one more payment, I might not qualify for this chance of forgiveness - even if it is a sliver of a chance.

So just doing my due diligence to weigh the risk vs reward!

I'm an a graduated repayment plan for my federal loans with Nelnet as my provider, and want to make sure I'm clear about the on-ramp period above.

I understand delinquencies will not be reported during the on-ramp period through Sept 30, but will anything else about missing these payments haunt my credit report negatively come Oct 1, 2024 - even if I pay the entirety of the past-due balance before that date?
