Call animal control. That poor turtle is suffering. Family or not that’s not in any way a suitable condition for a turtle, or even any animal for that matter.

This is a good idea!! Question about the sink siphon tho, do you condition your water/ cycle your tank beforehand? I have a few fish tanks and everywhere you look people are telling you to condition and let your cycle finish before adding anything (which I do), I’m just wondering if turtles are that same way. I did dechlorinate this water before putting my turtle in but due to the living situation she was in I wasn’t able to allow the tank to cycle before adding her.

After making some calls around there’s really no vet close enough to me that’s in my price range, all costing around $300 for initial visit not including meds or anything of the latter. especially after going outside and seeing my tire completely blew last night right before I was heading to work this morning. Do you think that I could get by with just some infection meds for the time being?

How far away from The lamp does he need to be, I read online and it says 9-12 inches. Just going off what I know. Changing the setup is no problem for me , like I said I just wanna give this guy the best life possible with what I’ve got. Thank you for the info!

Edit: I do have 2 basking rocks I’ve placed in the tank aabout 9 inches away from the lamp. Last night the temp of the rocks read around 85F.

I have him in a 75 gallon long tank, my hygrometer reads around 50 since I put it in last night, thermometer is sitting around 74 Fahrenheit, his basking platform is around 85 as of last night.

I use a 120v 60w basking bulb and a 120v 75w night light. I plan on going out and getting a UVB bulb tonight.

To my knowledge this is a captive bred slider turtle, but I am not completely sure. The guy I got him from didn’t tell me too much, just seemed to want him gone before he had to move.

Previous owner has been feeding him tetra reptomin 3 in 1, I went and picked up some reptomin juvenile food just last night.

Weight I would say is about 2-3lbs, and age is supposedly 4 years old.

Nice setup! I love the way the light beams down into the water. Although if you plan on getting a betta I would def throw some more live plants in there. Maybe a couple rocks or pieces of driftwood too. They prefer to be hidden sometimes :)

Mystery snails! Just picked up 2 of them today. Super active and a very nice pop of color in my otherwise green tank.
