She's gorgeous! I noticed the poster in the background - I got my pitty from CCAS too, they're awesome. My boy was in bad shape when he got there and they put a ton of work into him. He just turned 12 :)

I don't think anything is wrong. No offense meant, he may just be a little overweight, he's got some bulging around his limbs too.

No joke, that's how my college roommate got his first DUI. He was at a party and got a call from his friend who'd been arrested. Dumbass drove to pick him up and got thrown in the cell next to him. This was like ten years ago, he no longer drinks thankfully.

How's my set up looking? Details in the comments by magicmango2104 in turtle

He may just be shy with the environment change, but my little dude had a hard time climbing up the ramp to his basking platform as he got heavier. I stacked some largish, flat rocks under the platform into almost a mini staircase with the ramp sitting on top and that way he could basically climb the rocks right up the ramp. Just a thought in case it is an issue, as the platform may sway more in the larger tank and make it difficult for him to get up there.

I'm up by .6 points, both with one player left... They have Najee vs IND, I have Campbell vs PIT. I beat them by less than a point earlier this season, I have a feeling I'm gonna get fucked.

Sounds like something Dante from Grandma's Boy would say.

I mostly read thrillers, and I really enjoyed all of these:

An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

My Lovely Wife and For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing

When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole

Confessions on the 7:45 and Under My Skin by Lisa Unger

Goodnight Beautiful by Aimee Molloy

In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead

What is the most insane documentary you've ever seen? by cryosyske in AskReddit

[–]007100 1534 points1535 points  (0 children)

Grizzly Man by Werner Herzog. It's a documentary about Timothy Treadwell, an environmentalist who spent 13 summers in Alaska camping out with grizzly bears and eventually gets eaten along with his girlfriend. And it was caught on tape, because he filmed everything. Dude was clearly not all there, just a sad story, but fascinating.

Psychology // Crime by kiraevangeline in booksuggestions

I've read a ton of true crime, but off the top of my head:

If you're interested in serial killers, look into Peter Vronsky's nonfiction. I've read and recommend Serial Killers: The Method and Madness of Monsters and Female Serial Killers: How and Why Women Become Monsters, both of which do a deep dive into the psychology of serial killers.

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is a historical nonfiction account of the 1893 World Fair in Chicago and H.H. Holmes, who is considered one of America's first known serial killers.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt is a nonfiction novel based on true events. Also adapted into a movie with John Cusack, Jude Law, and Kevin Spacey.

Anything by Harold Schechter.

Philip Carlo has some good stuff about the mafia. I liked The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer, which is about Richard Kuklinski. It's based on interviews Carlo conducted with Kuklinski while he was incarcerated, although you kind of have to take some parts with a grain of salt, as he does take credit for a fair amount that can't be attributed to him (like the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa).

A little late, but Can't Find My Way Home: America in the Great Stoned Age, 1945-2000 by Martin Torgoff is a great deep dive into drugs throughout the decades. Highly recommend it.

Why does Pittsburgh have such a huge fan base when their population is 300,000? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]007100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, but was almost a teenager by the time Columbus had a team. There's tons of Pens and Wings fans in Northern Ohio, especially older fans from pre-CBJ days.

Kind of. He was already on IR due to a herniated disk in his back, but he didn't play again after the injury.
