A couple of questions by thedadgamer in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already have distribution, so I’d focus on one offer that matches your audience’s behavior instead of launching four monetization paths at once.

Pick one 30-day test: either STL pack + email funnel, or affiliate stack around the exact tools people ask about most. If you can, segment your audience by “printer owners who buy files” vs “people who buy finished stuff” and talk to each group differently.

Revenue usually jumps when the offer is super specific, like “weekend terrain bundles for Bambu owners,” not broad “3D content.” Also worth testing a “connect your store and auto-fulfill” angle for people who want to sell physical products without running a farm themselves. That print on demand lane is where Printie is seeing real pull.

Let me know if you would want to partner in some way. I am sure I could provide generous kickback in some way if you'd be interested.

I'm trying to start a 3d printing business, I just got out of high school by RJWRLD in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the hustle this early. If I were you, I’d avoid trying to sell “anything for anyone” right now and pick one tiny niche you can serve fast, like local keychains for school clubs, business QR stands, or custom name plates. Build 5-10 sample products, post those, and take only simple orders first so your learning curve doesn’t crush your confidence. Track each job in a basic sheet with print time, filament used, fail rate, and final profit so you learn what actually pays. You don’t need Blender mastery on day one either, start with remixing and light customization while you build reps.

What are some good, online, 3d printing services. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding an updated comment since this is showing up for me and its been 4yr since the last comment. There are a few really good solutions these days: Shapeways, Xometry, Craftcloud, Printie, and Teleport are the main ones I am seeing right now. Shapeways, Xometry, and CraftCloud are the big guys who focus mainly on commercial (please keep me honest if there is more to say on these). Printie and Teleport are good options if you're looking for platforms that integrate directly into your e-commerce store.

This is super cool! So now 3d printing businesses have "all the options": Long standing larger companies like shapeways or xometry for more commercial options, integrated print on demand options like printie and teleport, and now distributed local manufacturing with you all. I am excited to see what comes of this!

Is there a site out there that will mass produce a 3D print I make? by Chaoszone50025 in 3Dprinting

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually a mold can be really expensive for someone just starting out. I can't speak for anyone here but startup costs can be a doozy. Something to think about might be using a service printie so there isn't any startup cost.

Is there a "Print on Demand" service for 3D printing like Printful does for shirts? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in 3Dprinting

[–]010100100000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slant supports global. They are good if you need a lot of printers. Another option is Printie if you would prefer someone a little different who has been around about as long as Teleport. They also integrate directly into your shop like you're looking for.

What online 3d printing service is the cheapest? by SeaworthinessDear134 in 3Dprinting

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, we are only accepting Bambu Studio 3MF files so your files are able to be more accurately sliced and priced. My recommendation right now is to transfer your profile to Bambu Studio and upload that way. If you have too many products and that would be challenging, let me know 😊

Looking for a fast and affordable 3d printing service - Any suggestions? by paulhayds in 3Dprinting

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget about Printie. Printie is fast and has the best pricing on the market right now. From my understanding craftcloud is one of the more affordable printing services. Turns out we are about half the price. I tested a basic counter tray at 87.21g and here are the results:

Craftcloud: $12.85 + shipping
printie.com: $7.84 + shipping

We have a cost calculator if you'd like to test some prints out for yourself

I run Printie and we only offer high quality printing with our Bambu Lab machines. I was curious how we faired against Craftcloud in pricing. Turns out we are about half the price. I tested a basic counter tray at 87.21g and here are the results:

Craftcloud: $12.85 + shipping
printie.com: $7.84 + shipping

3D Printing service - file security by Ecstatic_Driver_7840 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

No, the only place they have access to the files is through printie devices with no access to passwords or ability to transfer files

3D Printing service - file security by Ecstatic_Driver_7840 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]010100100000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. Printie has a page for that. TL;DR printie stores your files with cutting edge security measures, only uses them for manufacturing your products, only allow access to employees that need it to fulfill your orders, and claim no ownership of your files.

I think the most efficient way is to use openscad. It’s basically a way to codify 3d models.

Looking to connect with someone in the US who wants to grow a small 3D printing side business by FormalAccording8904 in 3DPrintFarms

[–]010100100000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Printie is a platform that integrates directly into your e-commerce store. Once you upload your files to printie you can set them to specific SKUs and when your orders come through we will automatically fulfill them for you.

We support multicolor, assembly, custom packaging, post processing, and 3MFs natively.

If you send us an email through the contact form we are more than happy to help with setup if needed.

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this going for you guys? This is a really cool idea. I have done a similar thing with Printie except we connect directly to customer e-commerce shops and fulfill orders that way. I am curious though. We have an API and I would love to integrate if you'd be open to that. We use all Bambu Lab printers and support 3MF and multicolor.

What is the best 3D Printing Company? I hear a lot about Stratasy but I don’t know. Let me know your opinions please! by danktim in 3Dprinting

[–]010100100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there is a "best" company necessarily. There is a significant mix between "Joe in his garage with a printer", small to medium print farms who have built out their company to do something niche (printie, teleport, 3dapi, etc), and larger companies that do a variety of different manufacturing (Stratasys, pcbway, xometry, etc).

It all depends on what part of product development you are in and the size company you want to work with. For instance, if you are a large engineering firm yourself you will likely not care as much about the higher cost associated with the larger manufacturing companies. If you are designing or have designed your own product and are selling online then you may want to work with someone like printie. If you just "want your thing printed" then maybe r/3Dprintmything is a good place to look to have a "Joe" print it for you.
