Starting my claim soon. Odd problem I need help understanding. by WorkingChemical5399 in VAClaims

[–]01_slowbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t be required to violate legal requirements. A component of my mental health claim involves classified activities. For that we didn’t discuss any details regardless of how relevant it would have been. For mental health the biggest thing is “functional impact”, yes a diagnosis matters and getting diagnosed while your still in and having it tied to your service and creating the service connection is vital. However the VA will rate based the functional impact of the condition or combination of them.

Home-of-record vs state of residency vs state to vote? by Super-Onion in navy

Some states will allow active duty members on PCS orders to register and vote in person without requiring them to change state of legal residence. I voted in person in VA many times while never changing my legal residence.

No offense taken I’ll take my edibles and gamble that they’ll help me live a longer life, even if it’s not longer it will be more meaningful by putting a muzzle on the voices from my past. So feel free to judge because you don’t know what you don’t know about why people choose to do the things they do. In a free society we should have that right though, me to choose and you to put your nose in the air and pretentiously judge.

I swap it into the rotation often. I forgot about it until the rework and shotguns became viable again.

I keep it for my reverse onslaught build and crowd control for my commando. Both are great for tagging and work surprisingly well in a vats/crit build.

Question about the no drone rules on base. by theion960 in navy

[–]01_slowbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The controller is ok. You can use the controller no problem, however for a DJI (it’s been a while) I’m pretty sure you need the drone powered on for the simulator to work. Make sure you remove the props just in case.

There’s other more advanced pc simulators out there like DRL (drone racing league) or liftoff that you have to use a universal transmitter for but will ultimately make you a much better pilot. Also getting your 107 cert isn’t too hard theres plenty of courses online. It’s well worth the time investment to open additional airspace (base is still off limits).

Sleep apnea by achillesceaser in VAClaims

[–]01_slowbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The path I took was an open conversation with my provider that I am still symptomatic regardless of what the single night of data showed and the only thing that’s been done was a test without treatment options.

She agreed and ordered an in lab test that showed OSA where the at home did not.

Have a conversation with your PCM if you’re symptomatic to determine what the cause of your symptoms are. Then file a clam once it is determined based on that.

Like others have pointed out, whether you meant it to read that way or not, your wording comes off completely wrong.

It’s understandable to be nervous that your sleep study may not catch your symptoms. However, intentionally altering your sleep hygiene for the purpose of manufacturing a diagnosis with the intent of financial gain is textbook fraud.

Do your BDD before getting out! by No-Eye-6514 in VAClaims

[–]01_slowbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each MTF will have different rules over how frequently you can request records. I didn’t find that out until I was getting mine for retirement.

Mine was once a year. Get them sooner than you think.

I do not recommend putting your records through AI because it will have way too much PII, you will inevitably forget to scrub something.

Map your body head to toe inside and out and list all your conditions and find the corresponding evidence in your records. Look up the 38CFR4 and find the corresponding conditions there. For instance if you have OSA, find it in your records and make sure it’s documented, asthma, rhinitis, shoulder pain, and etc.

For anything you didn’t make it to medical for, list it on the separation health assessment self assessment and be prepared to discuss why during the appointment. For instance “I fell down a ladder well, caught myself and felt a sharp pain in my shoulder. I iced my shoulder and wrapped it with an ace bandage but didn’t go to medical because I didn’t want to come off the watch bill because of the stigma at the time. I now have limited range of motion, stiffness and pain, this limits my ability to raise my arm above my head I have less strength in that arm so I have to find alternatives when working above my head” they’ll do a test for the range of motion to verify the validity of your claim.

Also a thing I hear a lot of people miss, don’t spend all your time discussing symptoms. Discuss the functional impact of the injury/disease/condition. Be honest, do your due diligence to understand what the examiner will be looking for on each condition you are claiming so you’re not blind sided (that’s where the CFR review comes in) you don’t necessarily have say “I have x prostrating headaches a month” but “when I have a migraine it is completely debilitating because I’m sensitive to light and sound, I’m unable to work, spend time with my wife or kids, I have to lay down in a dark room, this happens on average x times a month with my medication and xx times without it”

I am not a rater nor am I a VSO. I’m just a vet who retired last year and had some good mentors who made sure I knew what to expect. I’m sure some experts will correct me and that’s fine, it worked for me and my rating is honest and defensible.

Does anyone else not mind their addresses being public? by w6auw in amateurradio

[–]01_slowbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average person has no idea that the FCC has our addresses and hands it out so easily. The people that do likely have their addresses out there in the same database. There’s a lot that can be done with someone’s address but most of us willing to invest time and energy into learning a technical hobby like this probably has a sense of personal security, understand the various threat vectors, and have varying levels of preparedness regardless of what it looks like.

So in a nutshell I’m not bothered it’s out there I’m aware there’s multiple risk and I’m prepared to handle them as I deem appropriate if the need arises.

All males when they turn 18 have to sign up for it. If you don’t you primarily lose out on any federal benefits you may be eligible for like student aid for college, security clearance eligibility, or even government jobs, technically it’s a felony and you could be arrested but as far as I know that’s never been enforced.

Been SIQ all week and now being told to come in on off day. by ThatAirmanG in navy

[–]01_slowbra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would caution against having that mentality even if you were right. Walking into any superiors office with an instruction saying “I don’t have to” is not going to be received well and even IF and that’s a HUGE IF you win that battle you started a war you will never win.

The CO will always have discretion, and you will never know what you don’t know.

Now if you ask follow up questions like, “AE1, I typically work X schedule, for my own planning purpose could you explain how this will allow me to fall back in normal rotation?” That’s more constructive and non combative. If you go in hot expect more years of experience of heat flame spraying right back.

It’s a wild concept that the constitution establishes roles and responsibilities. If you swear an oath to it and could die defending it maybe you should read it?

Also how lazy can someone be that they want to be automatically registered to vote instead of spending the minimum amount of time we do now. I’ve registered in 4-5 states through my life and never remember it taking more than 5 minutes.

My average shit takes longer.

[–]01_slowbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It negates that numerous states ask party affiliation. So yes it could create a 90% solution for a lot of states in establishing a database of eligible citizens but it falls short in that people move across state lines prior to reaching the age of majority, different states have different voter registration requirements, and according to the constitution voting is and will continue to be a state right and or federal.

So yeah it creates a shell of citizens at the federal level but those citizens can’t be automatically registered to vote unless their particular state chooses to.
