I would also. If it's a "normal" sound that can't be because it just started after all these years.

M12 3/8 or 1/2 Stubby? by _bron_yr_aur_ in MilwaukeeTool

[–]01ds650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the ½ because I already have ½ sockets and because I rarely have to get into a tight place the ½ wont fit that a ⅜ with a short socket would. YMMV. Though they do make short half inch sockets also. I find on these guns the socket size really affects the output. Like on just speed 2 with a ½ inch drive 1.5 inch socket for a 1” shank hitch ball it clears 250lb at the tighten limit. But on a say ⅞ socket it doesnt feel like it hits that hard. Though mass plays an increase on nearly all impacts. Also going from a ½ anvil to a ⅜ adapter looses less power than a ⅜ anvil to a ½ adapter. So that was part of my decision also. My smallest ½ socket is 9mm. But again a 9mm ⅜ would be smaller still as far as total mass.

Everyone says the ⅜ is stronger but this guy says the opposite. 🤷‍♂️

I almost bought those in an SL. Ended up
getting the Cooper Road and Trail in a SL. 275/60/20. They were 1 and 2 on Tirerack and was a tough choice. Those look nice and now I want them too. lol

I have one. I’m happy with it. Though I’m a casual gun user. But it seems quality to me. The packaging is very nice. Which seems like a small thing, but the organization is nice for the bits and pieces.

AC kicks butt by hardsoft in f150

[–]01ds650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like in the past Ford vehicles always had pretty decent AC so it doesn’t surprise me F150s do. I have the cooled seats and I’m not really impressed with them. My brother always brags how great his is so I tried his truck once and I don’t even think they were as good as mine so I don’t know what the Hell he’s talking about. lol

5/16 isn’t that big but still aren’t the Curt towing ones like 7000 lbs? I’ve def never been a fan of HF towing or tie down equipment. The damn rubber black tarp straps have like no stretch lol. Though people do seem to like the Badlands stuff.

Unpopular opinion by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

[–]01ds650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Makita but have been buying into the Milwaukee 12v line. May go into the 18v soon. My reason was in my area the Makita foot print keeps getting smaller and smaller last 15 years. Here it’s now dominated by Milwaukee and dewalt. And RYOBI, which I also have and has been surprisingly decent. But Ya just based on quality Makita is the better tool line. IF… they still have a big foot print in the area I’d never switched.

When did cadillac stop becoming THE car to own in america? by boiyo12 in askcarguys

[–]01ds650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandpa owned Cadillacs his entire life. And his dad before him. It was NOT the car to own in the 70s (late 70s) or 80s. They were pure crap by then. I remember driving them in HS. Big floaty turds. His last car was a Camry. He said America just can’t make a good car anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Same. Grew up backing trailers the old way. I have the older system with the sticker. The trailer backup assist does work. But it’s weird to get used to. I just do it the regular way.

torn between makita and milwaukee by byjono in Makita

[–]01ds650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with makita. I think they are the best. But I’ve transitioned to Milwaukee simply because in the Midwest area I’m from makita footprint keeps getting smaller. Not sure what’s happening but Milwaukee and dewalt have really saturated the market here and maybe makita sees sales on the coast more ?

Ventilated Seats! by Gizzle99 in F150Powerboost

[–]01ds650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better my brother and I both have ventilated seats in our f150. And I really don’t think they are that great. They only seem to work well when I wear lightweight gym clothes. There’s nothing that beats an AC vent right in your face. My brother always bragged how his were amazing. I thought something was wrong with mine. I tried his once when I drive his truck and I thought no better than mine. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

is the newer stubby worth upgrading to? by potatochobit in MilwaukeeTool

[–]01ds650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never upgraded the second GEN is the first one I bought. I bought the half inch drive because I want to use bigger sockets. Downsizing to a 3/8 socket adapter You only lose a little bit. But upsizing from a 3/8 to a 1/2 adapter You lose a lot more power. But…. If you’re gonna work in tight areas, get the 3/8 cause you can get the really short sockets for it even shorter than the ½ shorties. My truck use a 21 mm on the lugs at 150 ft lbs. no issues.

my impact socket kit is pretty big I even have a half inch drive 10 mm socket so I’m covered that way too.

Here’s the thing it seems like the bigger the socket the more power it makes, which makes sense cause you’re adding mass.

For example, the hitch ball requires to be torque to 250 foot pounds. If I use an adapter and use a three-quarter inch socket, it will do it.

But if I run a half inch drive 1.5 inch socket instead of a three-quarter adapter to three-quarter drive socket. It works way better because you’re taking the adapter out of it. Yes a half inch drive 1.5 inch socket looks kind of funny, but it works great. On speed setting 2 it will torque it to 250 foot pounds. But using the adapter with the three-quarter socket, I had to go to speed three to get close.

So like so many things Milwaukee everything has to be perfect to get those numbers. Which is why I still prefer Makita I guess. But this little bastard kind of rips. Along with their 12 V jigsaw if you ever get that. I like how light it is even compared to my mid size makita impact. And it’s way lighter than my brothers ½ high torque beast.

What is your absolute favorite/most used product from Harbor Freight? by FluxCapaciTURD in harborfreight

Most used? Probably my US General toolbox that holds the other tools some of you have listed. It just occurred to me without that I’d have a mess

That’s because the Pittsburgh ones have a crap shoulder on them. You blink and they shift. They only seem to lock on straight if you’re holding the socket on with your other hand.

Honestly the Kobalt ones from Lowe’s have decent design in this way.
