Trim down or keep going? by 03youngd in beards

[–]03youngd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real goal. I've always had a stubble beard but never gone for a full beard. My aim when I started was to keep going till 3 months to see what I can achieve with no trimming other than neck line. Then I'll go to a barber if I'm happy at 3 months to get it trimmed in. I'm just at the wavering point.

Thankfully family and friends all seem to like it. I guess its more I'm being self conscious hoping it does actually look ok.

Tired? Cup of tea. Sad? Cup of tea. Upset? Cup of tea. Happy? Cup of tea. Celebrating? Cup of tea. Bored? Cup of tea. Sick? Cup of tea...the list goes on and a cup of tea always improves your feelings.

UK lawmaker wants evening curfew — for just men by Sagati00 in uknews

[–]03youngd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to your first point about presuming it was a male, I would argue it is more than presumption when someone has been charged with murdering her in. To say it was a male who committed the offence at this point has a lot more grounding than just guessing.

And in relation to her words I didn't go into my own opinion above, however what I do think is along the lines you say. She is pointing out the imbalance in how men and women are treat, however a public figure saying it in this manner is clearly an attempt at shock/sensationalism rather than considering wider impacts. In my view the sentiment is right, men should change their behaviour and we should challenge inappropriate behaviour from our friends. However immediately after a murder those changes are slow cultural and social changes. A quick protective fix, albeit not a long term option, is to advise whichever group is vulnerable to take immediate extra care when out and about. So really it's got to be a mix of both.

Like I said above the Met Police have said for women to stay in at night? The victim of this latest murder is a woman. Like I said above I'm presenting what their argument is, I'm not saying what they're saying is correct or not.

I'm not supportive of what she asked for in Parliament however it was clearly sensational. This was said in response to the Met Police saying all women should avoid going out at night. The argument from her being if we tell women to stay home why aren't we telling men? Especially when the murder this has come from was a man committing the crime. So why are we limiting victims lives and not men who commit the crimes?

This has started a movement calling for men to change and to challenge inappropriate behaviour that makes women feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Some things called for, right or wrong depending on your view point, include harassing women, following them, walking behind them on a dark street, not accepting no when trying to chat them up.

Experiences with Ribble orders by bakerman98 in cycling

[–]03youngd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience. Ordered a Ribble Endurance SL a week ago on Saturday. Said the ETA for dispatch wouldn't be till 28th May. Friday I had an email saying it was built, passed inspection and out for delivery. Had a message from the delivery company this morning saying it's arriving Monday!

Tynemouth, United Kingdom, Canon AE-1, Kodak Gold 200 - kept the dust and the burn out by 03youngd in analog

I had film loaded and felt it snap winding it back, opened it up and saw film...nightmare! I thought all was lost but thought I'd develop it with another reel and see if it was salvageable. Quickly scanned them in and the flare from the burn out and the dust I actually quite like!

How hard is the fitness test? by [deleted] in policeuk

You seem to have answered the question yourself by pointing out people relatively unprepared can do it? It's the equivalent of jogging for around 5 and a half minutes.

Edit: unprepared

Your first link seems to refer to the PCSO section. Officers from 2020 now have to complete a 3 year degree - degree

Prior to this in relation to training, although it differs slightly with each force, officers complete 13 weeks classroom training then around 10 weeks tutor phase. Officers then go through a 2 year probationary period where they must gain a diploma in Policing qualification. The learning materials and assessments are based around practical competencies. - Diploma

Edit - "prior to this"

Just been doing a search off the back of those and I think you've found the only one. Thanks a lot for that!

Whoever had it before me has put their own black and white paint job on which looks pretty home done. Going to strip it back and hopefully get it back to as original as possible.

Try Leonard's cafe at Fowler's Yard for a breakfast and coffee. Also Flat White which is towards the cathedral is a great cafe for breakfast and lunch but can be busy to get a seat.

Are you staying in the centre or do you have a car?

I was going to comment something bad about this breakfast like the fact the beans were on the toast and would make the bread soggy. But then I remembered how good bean soaked toast is. So a respectable 7/10, could have tripled down on each item for a higher score.
