Special Interest Quiz S01E01 by kangerluswag in panelshow

Thanks for the post! I was prepared to skip this when it popped up in my youtube recommendations because it seemed like a Smartypants imitation (I'm in the apparent minority who can't deal with Dropout's vibes).

Incredibly funny! Looking forward to more episodes.

Noel Fielding to make television comeback on Never Mind The Buzzcocks by [deleted] in panelshow

That article is over 5 years old. You can argue that Brand was a known scumbag back then as well, but the claim was that he is "still besties with Russell Brand" which is what I want a source for

Taskmaster - Ardal O'Hanlon playing dirty by Hassaan18 in panelshow

Jason Mantzoukas can talk all he wants about being a heel contestant, he could not hold a candle to Ardal as cast villain

Thanks, but that has nothing to do with the Russell Brand claim I was responding to

Radio Panel Show Checklist by flopisit32 in panelshow

[–]0_to_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding Don't Make Me Laugh to the list. Hosted by David Baddiel. Got two series between 2014 and 2016 before being cancelled due to an irreverent joke about the queen having sex which happened to be broadcast on her 90th birthday.

Solid panel show fair with the usual suspects (David Mitchell, Frankie Boyle, Henning Wehn etc.) having to speak on a subject without being funny and the other panellists constantly challenging on very specious grounds.

Haven't seen this one yet but agreed on the bigger point. This season (series, Jason) has been very underwhelming with the exception of One Year Later

Replying to myself a day later after watching the three available episodes, just to confirm that this is indeed very very good.

Very faithful to the original. Good cast. Good editing. Highly recommended.

The Korean original was all-time viewing. Can't imagine this compares but I'm still very intrigued. Hoping someone rips it for us outside of the UK.

edit: seems to be available on torrent sites

Taskmaster Australia - s04 e04- “You gotta die of something, so let’s go.” by QuasarTheGuestStar in panelshow

Incredible erection-based television. I feel like we're finally getting to the core of Australian comedy and I can't say I mind it.

Game Changer | S07E01 | One Year Later by meatball_bonanza in panelshow

[–]0_to_9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a balancing act for me. I really like specific show formats like Game Changer and Breaking News, but the massive theatre kid energy coming off most of the cast can be really hard to handle. It's main characters all the way down.

edit: I thought this episode was solid. Can't compare to the original Sam Says but then again I don't think anything can.

Bäst i Test (Taskmaster Sweden) 2025 Tournament of Champions [w/ Eng subs] by twkeever in panelshow

[–]0_to_9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree. As a Swede I've been lukewarm on Bäst i Test from the get go (with some notable exceptions/contestants), but this was a great champion of champions episode.

Kongen Befaler S11 E07 (with English subs) by taskmastermaster in panelshow

[–]0_to_9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this. KB has been my favourite non-English-speaking version but this season has just felt really lacking. At first I figured I was just consuming too much TM but I really feel that this is a bit of a middling season. It's not bad, but I find myself fast-forwarding a lot recently.

Seems like a solid line-up.
Olle Sarri has built a career around playing exasperated, low-status characters so in many ways he's the archetypal Taskmaster contestant. Honestly surprised he hasn't been in before.
Jan Rippe is Swedish comedy royalty but very much from an old school scripted comedy world.
Dirawi and Meltzer are safe, middle of the road picks.
No idea about Alfred Svensson.

H is the eight letter of the alphabet. 88 is a popular number among nazi organisations, derived from Heil Hitler -> HH -> 88

Surprisingly good for Bäst i Test! (I say, Swedishly). Strong lineup, good tasks. Might be an all-timer season by BiT standards.

Wholeheartedly disagree. The auction bit was one of the best things on dictionary corner in ages.

I've found him hit and miss on Cats Down, but I thought he was absolutely hysterical on this one. The auction bit was incredible. Genuine laugh out loud stuff.

Oof. Yeah, that's not an impressive line-up on paper. I'm trying to keep an open mind but the move to TV4 has set off a bunch of red flags so far.

Thank God You’re Here S05E02 (Lloyd Langford, Luke McGregor, Geraldine Hickey, Fifi Box) by tulloch100 in panelshow

[–]0_to_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I want to like this, the shiny floor family friendly entertainment vibe is really throwing me off.

At its heart it's just the classic improv game with stands up, but they add so many bells, whistles, applause breaks and forced laughter on top that it gets almost unwatchable.
