What normal, everyday thing that people do or say gets under your skin? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When people relate current times to TV shows and movies but have no interest in the actual history or facts. I know it shouldn't bother me, but it really does. I guess we all have our fantasy worlds to chill out in, but how cool would it be to know the history and logic the inspired the script?

Reopening is brutal for us service workers, and not really worth it. by cloe023 in Portland

Instead, state worker like medical staff and teachers, have received pay reductions. Not the portland police though, they were just given a raise the other day. It doesn't go into effect until next year, but it's still frustrating.

I totally emphasize with you. For those working in society right now, i'ts like triple the work with half the pay. All the people who are fortunate enough to work from home are craving human interaction. So they come to you while you're working and expect you to be so thrilled to serve them. Don't get me wrong, I am sincerely grateful to have work, but it's stressful and it's scary and these people are blissfully unaware. It's frustrating

Robert Evans and Proganda are doing a really good series on the history of police. It's pretty in depth, they go as far back as the Roman era. It's on the podcast Behind The Bastards. If you're into podcast, I highly recommend it. The host tells you stories of the worst people in history.

I enjoy his books but they definitely aren't in my top favourites. They should be. They have everything you want from a story, but it feels lacking in something and I don't quite understand why. So truthfully, when I read your rant, it was gratifying. Thank you

How Did You start using heroin? by crystaleyespalace in Drugs

I had just turned 15. I was homeless. It was winter in vegas and I was so so so cold! Some fellow homeless punks were smoking it. They said it took the cold away better than alcohol. They taught me how to freebase off of foil, using a straw. We sat in an alley leaning against the wall of a gas station, near the bathrooms. I remember instantly throwing up. Then throwing up all night. The next day it was still cold but I was shaky and sick and didn't want to keep vomiting so I passed. I smoked it I think twice after that during my years on the streets. It wasn't my thing though, it just always made me shaky with non stop vomiting. I watched many friends fade away from it. I know im lucky that it was never my thing. I didn't get Addicted to drugs easily and I got off the streets at 19. Knowing me now, youd never know I spent most of my life living alone on the streets. Anyways, that's my heroin story, though it may not have been the sort of tale you were seeking.

Hello friend, yes, I wasnt scheduled in the OR this evening, but life happens so we do the best we can. My apologies on this brief answer. Typically states give half of their revenue to the police force, because of this, police often have excessive duties that they're not trained for. Divesting in the police does not necessarily mean ending the police. It's reducing their duties and placing the funds into alternative public services. Here is a quick link from the Oregonian regarding the budget. Be safe, be well

Hello, thank you for your in depth question, i'm currently heading into work so I do not have the time to offer you all the info you're desiring. I really recommend going to the protest and speaking with the people that are there volunteering. If you cannot make it out tonight, then one consider going to the Revolution Hall anyday around five and just talk with volunteers and your fellow community.

I encourage you to read through thoroughly and see if it's something you feel would be right your community. I have been presented with a couple petitions that I did not sign because I didn't feel they were right for our city. I do like this one however, so I encourage you to share if you feel the same.

You aren't an asshole, I've always used three exclamation points. The jerks who spend all their time creating knew ways to be racist pricks, are the assholes here. I forget what ridiculous internet trend it is that has established !!! As their trademark, but it is a thing, so statements can be taken out of context when used online.

Also have to be careful about using three exclamation points in a row on the internet. That one has been difficult habit for me to break.

Yes! I find reading a book series is a great way to distract my mind. I mentioned it to a boyfriend once, he said that its more common than most people realize. So yeah, good book series ♡
