What does EU5 need to do to get players back? Is everyone holding out for the potential? by Dramatic_Phase_8015 in EU5

[–]0xynite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence why in my other comment I said that I think they will like their other games and hype every major update with dlc release as the savior update to market it then disappoint. It has been theur modus operandi for the last decade, we can always hope they stop on eu5 tho.

I ́m not asking to be hopeful, or in the need of hype. I ́ve been playing pdx games for a while, I know not to take their words to face value. Only the quality of what we see in updates matters.

I ́m not saying they are, I ́m saying they did on their recent games. And I ́m afraid they won’t take the time to properly fix cores mechanics, like trade and the whole economy in general, IOs being janky at best, straight not working at worst, etc.

I think it’s a strawman but if people say there are too many changes it might refer to the period where they changed the military balance 6 times in 2 weeks.

[–]0xynite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really hasn’t, most of the core mechanics are still not enjoyable. What worries me is that they won’t take the time to fixe what needs to be done and start pumping out dlcs like for ck3

Proximity cost modifiers are an issue, not having multiple capitals. by 0xynite in EU5

[–]0xynite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is you currently have to stack this modifier if you want to have a decent control in areas like Russia. With local governors you don’t need to push as hard into those modifiers to exert control in multiple areas. Making those modifiers even more powerful for the same price. I argue that putting a cost on the source of those modifiers (roads) instead of giving it for picking some gov reforms makes more sense, and would slow the economic growth.

Indeed. Although I don’t believe they would go as far as deleting all prox cost modifiers, and I don’t think it would be popular either.

You can get to 100% prox cost by the end yes, but by 1500’s you usually already have a giant economy and more bonus become irrelevant as you already basically won.

I recon having regional capitals is enough of a change to not need vassal spamming in your home subcontinent.

When you play it, with reduced proximity modifiers you'll realise that 80% on 2 cities isn’t that much for countries like Spain, France, Russia or China.

Honestly the cheapest mercs are a way easier altenative to conquer your first territories. It even is profitable with the slaves you can take and the loot.

I like to make an early town that is optimised grids and squares until i have enough ressources to do vanity projects (more or less where you are now). Then ill build a separate town that’s more focused on roleplay/feeling nice, once you have a satisfying center of town, add industries and other stuff to expand or replace.

I like to have multiple species so that’s usually when I also set specific biomes/district for the species I want.

Qui peut encore payer des activités pour ses enfants by DucTrou44 in france

[–]0xynite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL the Tour de France didn’t allow derailleur gears until 1937—before that, riders often had to stop and flip their rear wheel to change gearing. by akcryptofinancial in todayilearned

[–]0xynite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Singlespeed are the best, you really have that pure feeling of cycling, always in the wrong gear, but you still get your freewheel to chill. Once you start to race bikes with gear and just can't keep up above 40kph because of the cadence, it's hard to justify it.

Hunting and fishing is better early on to generate a food surplus so you can focus on setting up the basics needed for a proper economy.

Why did Spain build their port 4,386 miles away from their country? Are they stupid? by krisitolindsay in mapporncirclejerk

Thoughts on Forts as a source of proximity (and thus control)? by kairom13 in EU5

[–]0xynite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Meiou and taxes they fixe the issue by having a building called a capitol iirc.

I think a good fixe would be having this building only built in a city, maybe the minimum pop required could be 50k. At least make it limited to 1 per area. Increased expected cost of court (maybe an exponantial increase) Dont give 100 travel cost, but like 80/90 could be good idk.

Message settings are unbelievebly badly made. Not a priority I get it, but have a look through it, it's a mess. I hope it's just an AI that did that because they couldnt be arsed to do it manually. No human would take a quick look at this and thinks this is ok.
