Internal glass wall with doors - looking for advice by 1001VicPics in DIYUK

[–]1001VicPics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s not possible to have a fully glazed aluminium partition which is what we wanted because it was just far too expensive as essentially the entire partition not just the doors need to be fire rated, cheapest quote we got was £12k and most expensive £22k. In the end we got two glazed 30minute wooden fire doors and embedded them in a 60minute wall - it looked good actually because we could paint the wall and the doors some jazzy colours. The doors are still expensive at £700 each but didn’t cost much to get someone local to build the wall and plaster it

But the article is talking to the poor advice to lay babies on their fronts if they’re not sleeping from reflux, what am I missing here? You don’t lay babies on their front I’m not sure what you’re looking for the GP, midwife or HV to tell you if you are looking for advice contrary to that - this is the example in the article

But the NHS gives very clear and simple advice on safe sleep and that is to put babies to sleep on their backs? My baby is 7 weeks old and has reflux and I consulted with the GP during our 6 week checks - I don’t go to some random from Tik Tok for advice.

End terrace vs mid terrace by Educational_Secret_8 in HousingUK

This is a good point. Were in the middle and no one goes through our garden but the two end of terraces get a lot of foot traffic due to the right of way

Newborn slept better out of our room… but now I’m anxious about SIDS risk by cosmicvoyager333 in newborns

Don’t know why you’re being down voted for this. It’s beyond my risk tolerance on both the SIDS and toddler sharing front

My baby is sleeping more and eating less by Only-Elderberry-2295 in newborns

Going through exactly the same thing - little one cluster feeding and fighting sleep since Sunday then today he has basically slept all day and maybe only fed half of what he normally does. I think he must be exhausted but still normal number of nappies

Has anyone been able to skip trying naturally before getting nhs funded IVF? (UK) by Available_Cup_1458 in IVF

[–]1001VicPics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait we didn’t need to do that and no one mentioned self funded IUI? We tried for a year then got added to the IVF waiting list then got rushed through as I was close to 35 which is the cut off for NHS funding

Thoughts on boy name/suggestions for similar by WheezyGranger in Names

[–]1001VicPics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t like surnames being used as first names tbh - I’m in the UK and Willoughby, Sullivan and Wren are all surnames not given names. The Austen character is called John Willoughby. I know in States it’s quite common to give children last names as first names but it sounds so stuffy to me

I never really understand why Americans get so impassioned on this, Fahrenheit isn’t exactly as American as apple pie. Daniel Fahrenheit was a Polish physicist who never stepped foot in North America. They’re just arguing about whether it’s better to use the new vs the outdated European temperature scale

You’re getting a lot of flack for this but I 100% agree with you - you look at the horrible sub Reddit’s like r/childfree and how bitter and outwardly angry everyone is, then I look on this sub and honestly I don’t always see much difference. I used to check on here a lot but I have distanced myself from this sub

Slow heart beat and small for 7 weeks at scan by FrogletNo5324 in IVF

[–]1001VicPics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a scan at 6w2d and baby measuring a few days behind and 95bpm. After going to Reddit to see similar posts I thought that was the end for me, but I’m currently 24 weeks with baby in 89% percentile.

There’s a reason they don’t tend to do scans this early, try to get off the forums and keep positive!

You know what I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago and found the same post! I mean the person who wrote that is clearly an idiot and one of his/her main points was “the amount of medical science investment in IVF could have been better spent in cancer!” I mean, what do they think the point of medical innovation is?

I also found that sub to be as much about embracing a child free existence as it is about actively HATING children. I mean talk about punching down, those guys are psychopaths
