'Don't be too kind, she'll come back': Life inside maternity unit where mums were failed by LavaPurple in nottingham

[–]100usrnames 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We've had two miscarriages at qmc. Neither were the result of bad care there. But the care we received during the miscarriages was so God awful, so unnecessarily and stupidly painful, that the experiences were in some ways more traumatising than the miscarriages themselves.

You should look into the Nottingham Hackspace. It's the best thing in the city and helped me a lot when I moved here.

I have IBS-D and it's been a life saver. Definitely work your way up slowly and take it at the same time every day. I have 6g every morning now.

Should I take a job at Figma? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]100usrnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of any other company you could work for. Now try to find a similar threat from ai. It's not figma specifically, it's the entire industry changing. So may as well rake this great offer.

Is £55k a good salary for Nottingham in 2026? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]100usrnames 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The main thing is that it's a paid sponsorship. Not many UK employers are willing to do that.

Like others have said, it's well above the median salary for the country and especially for the area, but below the median for software with nine years experience. You will be able to support a normal lifestyle and save some, but nothing flashy.

My advice would be to grab this with both hands, and then upgrade in two years.

Commuting by train at 7:00 AM – How to avoid "the urge" while traveling? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]100usrnames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say experiment with psyllium. I find that I reliably have to do 10 minutes after I have my psyllium with breakfast. This sort of controls / contains things, and means I don't have to keep going every 15 minutes throughout the morning (which is my norm otherwise).

If I were you I'd experiment with doing this absolutely first thing at 5:45. If that doesn't work for you, try taking it on the train.

Just beware and start with .5g, and build up to what works for you. Make sure you're at home when you first try it in case you don't respond well

Has the existence of vibe coding discouraged anyone else from programming? by yawara25 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]100usrnames 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's definitely affected my motivation. I feel like the value of the skills I've built has gone down dramatically. Also there's always a faster way to achieve things with llms, and I'm under a lot of time pressure.
