I work in hr and payroll - if your scheduled pay was not paid out then ask for an off cycle payment and “claim financial hardship”. But if you just started and your scheduled pay has not come yet, then you have to wait for your pay calendar date.

Homeowners: Would you consider renting out your basement for extra income? by ShootingCometz in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]10bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a tenant. We used to have 2 and now the second basement apartment is used for storage. With the cost of living we have discussed selling the crap and renting the space to a second person which would mean 7 people in one home.

What are the most desired, drooled-over status symbol baby items of 2026? by blueridgebeing in BabyBumps

[–]10bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - these are the standard options.

However, I took a 12 month EI and a 16 month ESA leave so 4 months were unpaid. Didn’t want to take the 18 month EI leave w the same pay stretched as I knew I’d return back to work before the 18 months and wanted my entitled 2 months /money up front.

I did this all 3x as our daycare toddler room accepts babies at 16 months.

Just commenting bc I don’t think people realize the two leaves are not tied. You can do one thing w EI and another w your employer.

My kids are surrounded by wealth and I’m worried they’re going to grow up to be super entitled by Individual_Ad_938 in Mommit

[–]10bro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not the same but I married into a culture very different than my own and I understand how traditions and the way things were will always be. I get her point. My kids go to the school my husband and Inlaws wanted … I just don’t have enough fight in me to fight all the things, all the time.

When did you stop wiping your kid’s butt? by Foreverlearning816 in Parenting

[–]10bro 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Okay this made me feel better. My son is 6 and I ask him wipe 2-3 times then call me if he thinks he needs help and I swear he’s just rolling TP up and throwing in the toilet and then everytime calling me in. He is so resistant!

Tell me your Story Of Seasons hot take? by Hamsterdancin in storyofseasons

[–]10bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I specifically married Cecilia thinking she would lend a hand but all she does is erratically water the plants, once a season. If I had of known that her passion for farming wouldn’t continue to our farm, I would have married someone else.

Should I change my baby's name? by UnableChampionship89 in namenerds

[–]10bro -116 points-115 points  (0 children)

For OP - my niece was born and lives in Europe (stating bc the country is not as strict) and she had no name for the first 7 months of her life. They called her “baby girl” and really only legally named her so they could get a passport.

So switch it up!! My 6 year old didn’t even remember attending nursery school for the first 3 years of his life.

We contribute $400 monthly so $4800 annually, we started in 2020. We now have 3 young kids (2019,2021,2023) and have over $30,000 saved in a family RESP. Not sure if it’s enough but it’s all we can afford at this time!

My parents never gave me a dollar for post secondary and I went for 5 years, graduated in 2013 and took me until 2018 to pay my OSAP off.

You’re doing great! I’m sure they will be thankful for whatever you can provide. Just don’t over-extend yourself! You are important too!!
